29:27 I like how they present Barnabas as so unbeatable that he literally picks up a random garbage ass level 1 sword off the ground and destroys Clive in swordsmanship. 42:10 "Lukahn" is the name of the prophecy speaker in Final Fantasy 1 (NES)

The Barnabas fight is like what would happen if a video game character fought a real life swordsman. Film and game characters attack with a big dramatic windup. It looks good on screen, reads clearly to the audience, and makes the swing appear powerful. It also makes the swing entirely predictable, so it's trivial for the defender to avoid or parry it, as Barnabas demonstrates. It really works for a supposed to lose fight. It's a battle that Clive cannot win by becoming more powerful, which has been his strategy this whole time.

just a random tip for Jesse if he ever plays through this again and hasn't worked it out yet. Going to hideaways gardens and then needing to go elsewhere in the hideaway, once you get the quest just use the map to go back to the hideaway and save the journey back up 🙂 loading screen is quicker than running 👍

I've finally caught up. Now to join the waiting room for Jesse's next video 🥲 These Human vs Human sized boss duels are always a spectacle, I'm glad Jesse enjoyed that Sleipnir fight. A lot simpler to follow compared to the dragon sized enemies who take up a lot of the screen. When Clive got hit by Barnabas' Zantetsuken, I though he'd out of commission for a while, letting you take control of some of the other characters even if it's for a time till Clive recovers, but I guess it's not meant to be. 38:25 Jill can wait, there's more important things to be done 🤣 43:21 There ya go, redemption at last 🍻 Also agreed, I really wished they hadn't made these orchestrion rolls massive gil sinks, they're even more expensive than both of Clive's swords and upgrades. CBU3 seems to be really confident that a large majority of the people who played this will immediately jump to Final Fantasy mode as soon as they beat the game. 1:49:48 Thank goodness you went back and talked to Tarja again so she can give you her curio. That one is easy to miss since she doesn't immediately hand it over to you once her quest ends. 2:11:00 - Missed opportunity to show how powerful Barnabas is. If only he made each individual Harbard as strong as the one you fought in Kanver, Clive and his crew would be screwed, once again showing how powerful He is rather than the game just showing him beating Clive in a cutscene.

⁠​⁠@@beufis6979Same here! I’ve been watching one other LP that’s a ways behind him and that person has used so many different ones, even under Phoenix. Better options for crowd control, whittling down the stagger bar, and other neat pure DD abilities. Hopefully he does switch it up before the end, because I genuinely think he’d have a blast but if he doesn’t that’s fine. I’m here to watch the story mostly because Jesse is so thorough. I’ll just have to get my gameplay fix elsewhere 🤧

Supposedly the first area in this video when you can repeat it - the first 3 groups of enemies are the best 3 in the game to spam repeat to get ability points - an easy 1k ability points each time you kill the 3 groups up to kzbin.info/www/bejne/iorVqWWAlMqEnJo here

Please try all the other spells and abilities (upgraded). You can respec instantly and for free so its really easy to try them. You may find something more fun than the horrible tornado that blocks your vision.

This. The phoenix's big ability is a lot better for doing damage to hordes and not getting you killed. Plus it heals regenerable health.

that tornado is great during a stagger tho. it adds so much more damage. aerial blast, lightning rod and gigaflare are my bread and butter during staggers on bosses. it's also useful for taking care of large groups of small enemies

@@shinigamiinochi jesse never looks at other abilities, he uses what hes given at the start and never changes, we are 14 episodes in at 3+ hours each, and he hasnt even looked at the other normal ability in the phoenix tree yet alone the ultimate. He didnt even try bahamuts abilities. lol
