Dang, your video has so many configurations, it looks like you’ve owned 5 different trucks. The 4th gen being my first truck, this really speaks volumes to my addictive personality. I have a huge list of things I wanna buy… armor, rock sliders, bumpers and suspension but after your video, I might just do armor and rock sliders and just go out there

for those that have funds to build out a truck in a week, what jobs do you have? I got my Taco end of 2019. just now have upgraded all lights to LED. have a roof rack, light bar and rocksliders. saving money to get the camper with tent. Also want a procharger. so it's a slow build. definetely want to upgrade suspension to get a 2.5-3" lift. With all your research how did you land on locked for suspension over king since it seems so many people choose king.

Good video, just a bit of input from an amateur: The problem with your tires in winter isn't the Toyo brand, it's that you're running R/T tires. Any R/T or M/T tire will feel worse in the snow and ice than an A/T, especially compared to a "3-peak" rated A/T tire. Obviously a dedicated/studded snowtire is far better in these conditions, but realistically almost none of us will be running those on our rigs. The Toyo A/T3 is noticeably better in snow and ice than the other tread patterns I've tried (at least vs comparable H/T and M/T tires). Again, it's not the brand, it's the fact that R/T and M/T tires are not at ALL designed for snow and ice. You can USE R/Ts and M/Ts in the snow, you can use driver skill and planning to COMPENSATE for mud tires in the snow, but yea - snow and mud are extremely different substances with regard to traction. The better you get for one substance, the worse you get at the other one, as a general rule. Everything's a tradeoff. I went back to A/Ts since I wheel in the mountains. There's plenty of mud here, but honestly it felt pretty terrible being on M/Ts in the winter. I'm more satisfied with my choice of compromise now.

very good answer, for years ive ran all of toyos tires between rt, rt (trail my currents),mt, and the at, they all perform about the same in cold/snow overall like i stated in the video i love my toyos im not switching them out lol i dont care what anyone says about them but over the years regardless of which they are its just something ive noticed from both on and offroad, i have also tried falkens i was pretty impressed with those in snow just not my preference of tire, ive tried off brands, ive also tried geolander which i was impressed with and they were hand me downs so didnt run them for to long, but i will stick to toyos just from my experience the cool thing i remember from on my last tacoma the a/t they lasted a gang of miles. but yes everything is a tradeoff ive learned over the years but hey thats part of the fun and part of this hobby you live and you learn

you give good advice. When I got my Tacoma I had so man mods planned for it, but I didn't have the bugdet...then went through a divorce and really didn't have any money for the Truck. I just enjoyed it as is and not I'm soooo glad I didn't have the $$ initially because many of the mods I had planned for it - I will NOT pursue because I realized I don't really need them.

LOL im at 67K (45 truck value new). I just bought a C4 fab overland bumper (full hoops headlights and grille) cause I want more protection up front vs my victory 4x4 blitz bumper I currently have installed. I also don't have any crazy suspension or tire setups like a lot of KZbinrs do. I did my research 2 years in advance of buying the truck itself. I also refused to go offroading until I actually had armor on the truck. Im glad I did cause the first outing, I hit my transfer case skid hard. If I didn't have that, I would have lost 4WD and be out thousands for repairs. I also did a regear first before putting any actual weight on the truck to fix the gear hunting problem that's well known on these trucks. As for suspension, I'm on my first rendition. a modest 2 inch lift over stock. Bilstien 5100s all around, OME 886 coils, and Icon RXT stage 3 leafs. 265/75R16 milestar XT tires. Im thinking of going to 285/75/r16 for my next set once my tires need replacing. That was part of another reason why I went with the C4 bumper is to make space for bigger tires. But yea I'm only at probley 70% life left on my current set so it might be a year or 2. Also, I don't have crazy trails in my state like CA does or Utah, Colorado, etc.... Its Minnesota. I have to worry about trees and mud. Thats another reason for the C4 bumper is to protect the front end of my truck against hitting a tree by accident while on the trail. I already have a bunch of lights but those came after I bought the armor. I also have to deal with the extreme winter MN has. In mid January (2025), we got -20F with -40F windchill in the Twin Cities. So yea all the stuff on my truck really does get tested in the temperature extremes. For example, my Anytime camera for the front, I'm on my 3rd camera. I have to replace it once a winter cause the salt and moister just eats away at the camera. Silicon does help where the cord comes out but eventually the camera just quits. So as far as what I spent on mods, I'm at like 22K over 3 years which isn't bad but probely better than some others. Research first, then buy. I learned that before even buying the truck saving me who knows how much.

Have you ever weighed your truck? I just weighed mine and it was just shy of 7000lbs!! Decided to take that back down closer to gross weight limit. Don’t want probs if I get in an accident!

I am getting into this my first Truck 2024 or 2025 trd off road premium I’m aiming for. I went to do some light off road and camping deep into the woods. But I was thinking of getting a 4Runner to sleep in the back of it making it a lot easier but a truck I do need for overall daily life too.
@JesseRizo
@JesseRizo 18 сағат бұрын
Either one will be a good option 🙏 Cool thing with the runner is like you said it’s easier just jump in back and sleep lol, but a truck is a little more versatile and also will flex a little more OFFROAD if needed
