Bjorn don’t worry about no curtains, after moving into my first house (I had an apartment before) the financial stress meant no curtains, no carpets and lots of IKEA budget furniture for a couple of years. I found that there are shops here in the UK that sell “ends of rolls” fabrics - the chain is called Remnant Kings - lengths remaining on ends of rolls that are not commercial for big jobs. My sister is really good with a sewing machine and made me up some very inexpensive curtains enough to give privacy in bedrooms and lounge area. 35 years later they are still in use! My IKEA furniture I was able to re-sell on the used furniture market once I had had a few pay raises and got my savings back up and could afford better quality but today’s IKEA furniture is much better made than it used to be.

Other than the slope for better drainage, I would like to recommend "permeable surface" , so the puddles cannot form in the first place. :)

Doesn't work in climates that have freezing winters. Your permeable surface gets demolished by frost and you get a sink hole.

I only have blinds for my windows. I don't have any drapes or other coverings. But I don't need much to feel at home. Good to see some of the basics are installed. Idehus seems like a typical contractor. I have same issues with my home newly built. I need to have them fix the tile in the bathrooms since it has become loose. After trying to get someone to deal with it, I been too busy and likely bother them again soon. It's great when trying to get things built and done but once it's sold per bank... no help no response.

Energy efficiency, proper drainage and space planning are things that need to be planned in advance. Don't rely on the architect or builder to do your planning for you. There needs to be a long floor drain (the length of the garage door) in front of the garage and two drains in the front of the house so that excess water can be accumulated and drained away from the house. These drains need to be put in before any asphalt is put down. Proper grading and drainage needs to done before asphalt. The road is higher than the house and will always drain water into the house and garage. Proper drainage will help address this. There are many KZbin videos that go into detail about how to deal with excess water and drain it away from the home. Excess water is the enemy of any building structure. It can cause foundation issues, mold and rot of the structure. Water constantly draining under the house or garage will undermine the slabs.

Bjorn, another maybe cheaper way to get privacy in the hallway is planting conifers alongside the road.

Hi Bjørn, instead of asphalt for the driveway etc, have a look at a permeable ground reinforcement system like from Ecoraster. Lots of grip, you can use the gravel you like to reduce dirt going into the house, the rain (and melting snow) won’t pool and it’s very strong, they even use it for heavy trucks and machinery.
