Travel is so important to perspective as a black person. It gives you more insight into your humanity, considering America strips you of it. I've lived on 3 continents, lived in 4 countries (Senegal being one of them) and 5 cities. Learned 5 languages. I traveled as a kid and adult, and now I get to take my children and husband. They've been everywhere and it's such a beautiful experience to share!

Same here. Lived: Continents(Europe, Australia, USA) cities (Austin, NYC, Prague, Barcelona, Melbourne, Berlin) I makes me so sad to see/hear other black people who are full grown adults who interact with the entirety of the world using the same lense of where they were born.

Why do you have to be black for it to be important? U can’t just be a regular person? Why do you feel the need to be accepted by the white man? I’m just curious as a fellow person of color, help me understand your view of it, is it the obvious dark history of the white man once owning black folks that the need to get back at them or show them WE CAN DO WHAT YOU DO? Please I’d like your insight

keep in mind in many of these coyntries they see two types of blacks. black immigrants from africa and black westerns from either england or america. and usually they can tell. so they tend to engage certain types of blacks. as they know american blacks have more to fier them than say one from ethiopia or anywhere in africa or asia

I visited Venice and some people were fine and I remember this one woman looked at me and made a sound of digust at my big afro. I'm sorry long prolonged stares and stern body language is not a good sign. You can tell when people are curious about you or you're being stared at with an aggressive attitude. Italians and Spaniards are very guilty of this and I've been to Barcelona as well and seen it. It's like dealing with white people in the US who rarely see black people and don't really want to. London and Paris are fine I much prefer to travel to multicultural cities or at least places people are half way decent about people who don't look like them. I'm not looking for the welcome wagon but hard stares are not necessary and I stare right back.

Unfortunately, you are making a generalized statement about African traditions. The continent of Africa is composed of 54 countries. Within each country is a diverse group of tribes, languages, customs, beliefs etc. I am married to a Ghanaian who is from the Ga tribe. Our surname/last name is both Ghanaian & Hebrew. They are Hebrews who believe in God/ Yahweh. They left Egypt with Moses. Their customs, beliefs, traditions, foods reflect their Hebrew heritage. The paternal house is of the priesthood. Those that strayed away from God have become part of what is called a fetish. So, the belief & generalization that idol worship, voodoo, witchcraft, Ra, Horus, Hotep, or even Islam/Muslim is the "original" belief or religion of the continent of Africa is INCORRECT!

A couple weeks back I apply for a passport. I so excited because I about to do some traveling. I been just about every place in America but this year in September I going to Ghana. We as Black Americans really do need to travel more especially to Africa. I mean we been hearing some bad news about Africa home they live and more. But do your homework I mean before you decide to travel so where out the country maybe watch some KZbin videos about the place you be travel in or read so books on it.

Traveling is one of the most important things to do in order to expand your mind and brain functions. So many ppl see the same roads, same buildings and same places to eat their entire life to the point that their perspective on life and ppl never changes. Staying in your neighborhood creates a mental jail for yourself!!!7

That's beautiful but no one should feel bad for not being able to do the same. Traveling is expensive and exhausting. Many people travel and learn nothing. They go for selfies and parties lol. Have purpose when u travel and yes write about it! But do it on your own pace and own budget. Don't rush and don't put it first when u have other priorities. I feel there's pressure on people to travel and those who don't are like looked down upon or something. I don't understand why.
