I struggled with addiction for almost 10 years. I have been in and out of jail/prison for years. Now I am working on my bachelors degree in psychology. This story is based on my own personal opinion and experiences.

My life is absolutely nothing like yours. I live in the UK and I went through school at the top of all my classes getting top grades, I went to university and I graduated with a bachelors degree with honours, never done any drugs or even smoked a cigarette, not even once... yet I gain SO much from your videos. Since graduating from uni I've been very much lost and struggled immensely with my mental health. And then I hear your stories and I think wow, if this girl can change her life after everything you've been through then I can to. It makes my problems seem so tiny, though they are so huge in my mind. You're one hell of a strong girl and I have nothing but admiration for you. On paper I look 'successful' but due to severe anxiety I struggle with employment, something as simple as going to work is insanely hard for me, so girl I get you when you say how good it feels to buy your own pair of shoes with money you worked for. I've paid 2 bills today and I feel so proud. Can't afford a packet of crisps, but it still feels good to know my bills are covered and I made that happen. Keep going, you inspire me so much!

So are you! You probably get up (almost) every day and get through the day. You have managed to get a geat education, be top of your class and get a job. This is a huge success and no matter what is going on in your life at the moment, nobody can ever take that success away from you. You have every right and reason to pat your shoulder, look into the mirror and proudly say to yourself "You are an amazing, fantastic and loveable person. I am so proud of myself." The transistion from fulltime education to work is a tough one and even tougher when you struggle with mental health issues. I wish universities in the UK would offer more support for the time approaching the end of fulltime education and the first couple months after. Please, do seek help. It is absolutely worth it! And, although I don't know you, I am proud of you for what you have achieved and one day so will you.

Jessica, you are an angel. I've just discovered your channel in a time in which I need all the help I can get. My partner of four years and his family have all battled addiction, and his parents have been in and out of jail/prison multiple times throughout the years. I've struggled as I'd never been around anything like that prior to meeting him. You have given me so much hope. My partner is 3 years sober, though we're still having issues with his family as they are all still battling heavy addiction. You have shown me to never give up hope, and have given me so much more insight. I relate so much to your stories, as I've witnessed many situations similar to those you have faced, though on the outside looking in. Your videos are helping me learn to help my partner more and more each day. Thank you for being so amazing, your personality is beautiful and I am so thankful to have found your channel.

When I first got out of prison I had extreme anxiety going out and being around large groups of people. I actually spent the majority of my first few months at my house. I kinda imprisoned myself at home. I thought I would be out and about and go everywhere but that wasn’t the case. I heard someone talk about this before, I think it’s called goraphobia? Probably wrong spelling.

I haven’t ever been to prison but I have agoraphobia from life trauma too..it’s very common to have, so you aren’t alone. Especially when you’re in constant ptsd, depression, anxiety cycle. I hope you can get therapy & psych help soon..I’m about to and desperately excited to have these resources. Side note, I love Greek mythology & agoraphobia comes from the Greek word “Agora”, the Agora was the town square/common meeting place etc with tons of people..so it’s a fear of public places. I try to tune everyone out and listen to music, that usually helps. Therapy will definitely be the perfect tool though.

Watching your videos is a little bittersweet for me. My mom went to prison when I was 11. She was doing so much better after she got out for a while, but her addiction has now completely taken over her life once more. Now I am in my 20s and we do not have a relationship. I worry every day that she's going to be arrested again or OD. I cannot give you enough props or express how proud I am of your success, even as a total stranger, and I am honestly envious of your daughter for having a mother so loving and determined. Sennding hugs, because they're all I know how to send. This moved me. I've never done drugs, been to jail/prison, but I keep coming to these recovery stories, stories of incarceration, stories, in the end, of hope, and I want to cry with you. Yours is the most authentic I've seen so far, but I know there are a lot out there, so I'm sure I'll hear others... Still, though... your words, conviction, emotion. I'm there, I feel it as you're telling it, and I don't want anyone to have to go through it. I know that's not reality. My heart goes out to everyone dealing with addiction, who gets out of prison and just feels lost. Phew, now I'm the one rambling. Don't know where I'm going with this. Thank you for sharing such a powerful story of hope, of struggle, of so many things ... I can only pray it helps someone, or several someones. I'm sure it has, or will. How can it not? Stay strong.

@@lijntje266 Yes here in Norway the prisons are great. You get education while in there and at some point they even allowed video games haha. Well, it's a bad place, but shouldn't it be a bad place people don't want to be? We could decriminalize a lot more addiction, but then if she had not gone to prison, would she still be alive? Prison, in her case, really sobered her up and gave her the chance to grow up in a place where she could not harm herself.
@mcearl8073
@mcearl8073 5 жыл бұрын
Simply Ina What human rights were taken away exactly? From everything I’ve heard what makes prisons pretty bad isn’t the lack of tooth paste options or even the food, it’s the other fucking people in there. There’s plenty of programs and education things for those in prison, there’s TVs, radios, books etc. then when you get out you get transitioned into a halfway house which helps you get on your feet and get a job. I used to work at a halfway house and it wasn’t really that bad for them there. They still don’t have 100% control of everything but I guarantee you one thing, they have more control in there than they did on the streets in their addiction. She really didn’t get out “homeless” if she was going into a halfway house.

Just found your videos a few days ago. I've been on felony probation since 2017, I'm supposed to get off this coming October. I just violated probation for the fifth time after doing great for a year. It is entirely possible that the judge will decide he's fed up and send me to prison. Thankfully, my PO did not recommend prison and sees that I'm trying to fix this mistake. I'm back on a program while I wait to find out what the outcome of this violation is going to be. I'm scared, but I won't run from it. I want recovery and I'm going to fight for it no matter what. Thank you for making these videos. You are helping strengthen my resolve so much, you're an angel for me right now and if I should end up in jail or prison, I will have entered strong and clean and with a head and heart full of your wisest words. Thank you.
