Our Church fashion shows were held in the auditorium. It was super fun, and we had models of all ages. It was kind of like when kids put on a show for their families. My mom was the commentator, and I got to help with the script. Everybody cheered loudly for everyone, and we'd have a big dinner party at the end.

The one and only fashion show I've been to (working backstage to help the models dress) was at a church, actually! It was a local event, a new vintage shop had opened in town and the owner was friends with one of my friends. She wanted to put on a fashion show of some of her garments to drum up interest and a local church agreed to let her use their space to have the runway. Not quite the same vibe as on ANTM, but even though I didn't walk the runway, my friends had a lot of fun getting to play model for the day at it.

I went to church when I was younger and was in several church fashion shows. They were always so much fun. This runway challenge has always been one of my favorites, possibly because of my own fun with church fashion shows, but most likely because Jade was absolutely amazing and I had to imitate her wherever possible, actual runway or just spinning in the department store.

that cape is heavy and catches a lot of air when twirlng. Jade has dancing background she knows how to work with momentum and has relative good balance. You do see her slightly unbalanced at the last twirl but she keeps it togehter and doesnt lose her face one sec. it was hers to win

@scarletbitch86611 ай бұрын
The diamond market is controlled by DeBeers. Diamonds aren't rare at all, but DeBeers withholds diamonds from the market in order to keep the price high. That being said, rarity and demand control what everything costs, not just diamonds.

That was such a fun runway! I love when models get to be a little more interactive and be creative while walking! Also, I always disliked when the models had to "pick a friend" to share prizes like this with. I've noticed they always cut to an interview with another contestant being unhappy that they weren't chosen. It feels so calulated, and it's definitely another way the show tried to stir up drama.
@MK-hh1vo10 ай бұрын
FYI, "confessions" only happen in the Catholic church. Fashion shows like these most likely happened in Baptist, Episcopalian, or Presbyterian churches.

I have to say the first few seasons were pretty problematic, but also felt more sincere and unedited in a way (at least with how judges acted). Look at how Joanie's hairstyles are dufferent in between the confessional videos, most likely she might not be event commenting the event we're shown... Also, now that I rewatched this, I noticed Jade's outfit seemed different in the backstage, probably they filmed more than 1 take, then switched outfits or accessories, cause I remember after Jade won the challenge, some of them felt Jade got the upper hand with the cape... Conspiracy theory: another production trick to make the girls dislike Jade even more...

So I worked on this show for a season (cycle 7), along with other reality tv in the early 2000s. Really important for people to know about these shows: we mentally break down people before we even bring in the cameras, then just try to gently nudge them into emotional outbursts. It’s really not a pleasant thing to do to people, but that’s what is required to make popular reality tv. This show in particular… every contestant who is on the show would probably do fine in the modeling industry. That’s not what the show is testing them on. It’s seeing who can basically survive the harshest emotional beatdown for entertainment value. Before the cameras come in all the girls have to do 3 days of psych testing. That leaves them pretty raw emotionally. They can’t speak to friends or family. Once the cameras arrive, they can’t speak at all unless they are on camera. They must wear heels at all times. They must keep their heads down in public. They always have to have a crew escort. When they eat, we made their plates, they had to eat it all, then couldn’t use the restroom for 2 hours without a crew member in the bathroom with them. Etc… it was all very strict, and designed to make it easier for us to instigate stuff. Mind you, this was back in… 2003? I assume (and hope) the industry has evolved and taken less of a Victorian freak show approach. Too many nights I had to stay up on su*c*de watch.
