Been working at a ranch tucked deep inside that forest if you continue in for about 8 miles. First time out I stopped at one of the vista points, and oh my god, I was awestruck. Just incredible. Blows me away that trees manage to grow on those steep slopes.

First time I went to Payson was 53-54 as a friend of my Dad was building a cabin on Tonto Creek south of the hiway at Kolh's ranch. You picked up the Bush Hiway in east Mesa ,from there on the road was gravel/dirt to Payson and beyond. There was about a mile of paved road in Payson ! I ran pilot car for oversize loads hauling dozers/scrapers late 90s when they were making the road east of Payson into divided hiway. Payson at that time still had a operating sawmill right on the road thru town.

By who's opinion? What's correct? for a hundred years, the locals pronounced it Muhgeeyon, which was also taught in AZ history classes from the 60s to the 90s. Only recently has it become mohgeeyon. But since it's not really a spanish word why do we treat the double l as a y? I will default to the oldest regional pronunciation, which is also the pronunciation according to Merriam-Webster as me-ge-yon (muh-gee-own) . Calling it moh -gee-yon is as quick a way to identify yourself as a non-native as saying pres-cott rather than pres-cutt, Dy-sart rather than Dy-sert, or Sa-guaro rather than sa-huaro.

First of all, I love your videos. Secondly, the Mogollon Rim has been my stomping grounds for decades. I have tons of drone footage from numerous camping trips up there, I just haven't edited and posted much of it to my channel. In fact, it looks like you were up there around the same time I was camping up there earlier this past summer. I have drone footage of those fires off to the west as well. You've inspired me to get cracking on more edits and video posts to my channel. Also, it should be noted that there are LOTS of Arizona Black rattlesnakes up there. I have encountered quite a few of them during my camping excursions on the rim, and I have the pictures to prove it. However in all my years camping up there, I have only ever seen one black bear. Keep up the great work, Jessie. 👍

Love your videos Jessie. If you have a chance you should check out some of the Madrian Sky Islands in the state. The Pinals, Catalinas, Cochise Mountains and Mount Graham over by Safford are all part of this unique geological landscape. They are high altitude mountain ranges that rise up from the desert floor and home to a vast array of diversity. Probably the easiest to access would be taking the HWY up the Catalina’s to mount Lemon. It’s all paved and it’s nice and scary with tons of drop offs. Also if you ever make it up to the Eastern White Mountains in the Springerville/Eagar Area you can check out the Springerville volcanic field, it’s the third largest volcanic field this the USA. Near Lyman Lake in the same area there are ancient geysers. They look like mini mesas north of the lake along HWY 191, but they have large holes going down in them. There are also hot springs in the are along the Little Colorado. :)

The local bigfoot apparently also enjoy the scenic overlook at Woods Canyon lake as well, the better to track the deer as their prey! About 3 years ago, a family that I know, I told them of the numerous credible bigfoot sightings up there, before they went, they seemingly didn't believe me. When they came back home, their 7 year old son told me of his sighting, "I saw a what looked like a big hairy man, and as he walked I heard the tree branches crunching under his feet".

Wish you could have seen this town and area in the middle 1960s!! That's the first time I went through Payson and it wasn't Incorporated until 1973. People used to go to Christopher Creek in catch 10 and 12 inch trout right from the roadway!!! Also the road from Payson to the top of the rim was a skinny little two-lane road and if you got behind a truck it was going to take you an hour to get to the top of the rim!! But the good part was is there was almost nobody around and the population of Payson wasn't much more than a couple hundred!! One last thought also in the mid-60s early 70s there were huge ponderosa pine trees before they had logged the big ones!! I mean 4 ft 5 ft in diameter and 180 ft tall!! Sadly not anymore!!

Another great video. I fly the DJI mini 4 also. i am suprised how it does in windy conditions. A trip that i dont think you have filmed is the Salt River area where there are kayakers, tubers and wild horses. I fly out there quite often. There is a large area that the tubers use to go into the water where i fly the most. It is the parking lot about 6 blks. east of Blue Point pull off. The area i fly from has a covered area with a concrete picnic area where you can set up. You can fly all the way to Saguaro lake and back and then fly west to Blue Point. Be careful not fly over the dam at Saguaro since the dam is considered a critical structure due to the 9-11-2001 terrorist attack. I believe you live in the East Valley so it should be a fairly short trip. There is a ton of info you could put out- Saguaro Lake, the dam, wild horses, tubers etc. Last weekend we say two basejumpers jump from nearby mountains and a group of horse back riders traveling next to the river.

Say, Jess, do you want to see some Ponderosa titans that truly live up to the name, Ponderosa? Come to California's Sierra Nevada! They grow more than 250' tall, with trunks more than 8' diameter. And if they grow on steep slopes, they get basal buttressing, just like Giant Sequoias.

I just purchased my first drone. It’s the 4K Pro plus more kit. I’m wondering what software you use to insert the music and do your editing? Your editing is nicely done. Also, where do you get the background music from? Yours In particular seems to be well chosen. .

Great question! I use CyberLink power director 20 for all my video editing, I think the latest version is power director 24. Its easy to use, and I get all of my music from Epidemic Sound and they have thousands of background music tracks and sound effects. You just have to type in what kind of music you are looking for....for example.....western music travel music, mysterious music, creepy, happy, upbeat etc etc....I also just updated the description of the video and included links for the software and music in there as well. If you have any questions...dont hesitate to ask! and you will the love the mini 4 pro....it packs a punch!
