Now that you're better on wood and dirt, consider usingbthosevand sluices to redirect the badwater right at the sourse on the edge of the map. That'd be a lot of storeed fresh water....

Can the sluices at the and of the second reservoir be set to like 10 or 20% so you can get more water fresh water out of it?

Set to Close Below 100% and it will stay closed until there isn't any water left (100%), then it will flush the tank. As soon as there is Any Water (99%) it will close and keep that water. Maximum water for the current build. Current settings Dump All The Water, as soon as there is any contamination. (defeating the Tank) It won't start holding water until all the contamination is gone (granted it's quicker). Holding Minimum water. Of course he should Really divert the badwater Sooner, so that it never even gets to the river before the tank... But that would require Building, rather than just changing sluice settings.
