A lot of people won't appreciate what a masterpiece of editing this scene is. It's so chaotic, and it was shot with rapid handheld shaky cam, yet you always know exactly what's going on. It rightfully won the Oscar for Best Editing.
@Puschit16 ай бұрын
I understand the shaky cam for some of the shots when you follow Bourne. But they used it throughout, even when showing the headquarters. It's stupid, unnecessary and makes you sick after a while. The first three movies were great and almost perfect but the overuse of shaky cam is the one big issue with them.

It's kinda cool that they genuinely do cross Waterloo station from one end to the other, with pretty much perfect continuity and geographical accuracy, and in about the time it really takes. The layout is a bit different now, but the bridge to the concourse is still there at one end, and the off-license at the other. A lot of films and TV shows go the easy route and jump backwards and forwards between locations as needed (I saw a lot of this recently in the London scenes in Moon Knight), but in Bourne they made the effort to keep it accurate.

I agree, the bourne movies are well known, but not quite as popular as mission impossible and bond. The main thing that made the bourne movies so good is that he has no help, he is not part of some noble greater cause, and the movies were all somewhat believable-no crazy sci fi tech. Also the fight scenes were extremely well executed in these movies, they don't involve crazy flips and fast punching scenes, they actually look real.

High tech weapons are Hollywood fiction, not used in the real world of covert intel field agents. In fact, during the height of the Cold War years between the USSR/USA, the majority of KGB field agents were late 20's to early 30's pretty women used in "Honey-traps" mostly, while the CIA field agents were based on being invisible to the KGB's mindset of what to look, which wasn't the everyday ordinary-looking middle-aged women in their 40's early 50's with a feeble look to the KGB and GDR's Stasi that they would never consider relevant even to the present day always looking for the prevalence of strength! I do love the international-spy-thriller books, movies, and old TV shows: JB 007, J.Bourne, M.I. movies & the old TV show, Man from U.N.C.L.E., The Saint, and of course the laughing to "Get Smart" never gets old!

That's Bourne's biggest advantage as a solo operator. Drop him into any environment, he'll immediately analyze how to use it to his benefit. If Bourne actually picks the time and place for an encounter, you should just accept that you've already lost.

I love how Black Brier version of Bourne gets him with his pants down at the car bomb scene, it was awesome that the writers felt no fear showing another agent could play Bourne and at the same time show that CIA doesn´t play cheap and the taxpayer money is well used.

To me what's so great isn't the line "Jesus Christ. That's Jason Bourne." Which IS delivered perfectly btw. It's the lead up to and 1v4 fight. Because when we see Jason and reporter-guy in the camera, we realize that the team just WATCHED someone they consider a myth not only confirmed as alive, but as better than them all. It's the WEIGHT behind the line that's so great.

Well, not really a spy. Government operative (nice word for assassin). Definitely one of the best Gov Op action flicks. For actual spy movie, nothing comes close to Alec Guiness as George Smiley, in Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and the follow-up, Smiley's People. Old now, but above all others. Not much "action" but brimming with intrigue and suspense throughout.

This is a textbook example of "Author's omnipotence". By spending a lot of time thinking out what happens in a compressed amount of time in the scene, and inserting cause and effect to fit the goals of the character, the Author presents genius while not having the same level of genius as the character. You can see this too in well-prepared speeches and business or tech presentations; Preparation is the mother of success.
