I was a mortician and I am telling you after 3 days in a tomb in the middle east after a horrific death that body would not be in any shape to wash or anoint even if you could get past the smell. And yes Rabbi the decomposition process begins roughly 20 minutes after death.

We have nothing from the time of Jesus of from the first century or from the disciples themselves or the ppl that saw the truth as Jesus as the messenger and followed him as such (ebonites) we just have fabricated versions centuries later. It baffles me that Christian’s will believe words from random authors that never even knew Jesus…..

@@John-uk8eo It is definitely the Christian's bibles that are mistranslated and corrupted. Christianity has been deceiving so many people for thousands of years. Christianity adopted way too many idolatrous and pagan beliefs contrary to what G_d actually said. Christianity is not the group that they claim to be, Christianity is a Wolf in sheep's clothing! G_d warned us about Christianity thousands of years ago. The Christian's bibles are just very badly mistranslated and corrupted versions of the Torah/Tanach with a whole lot changed including names, a whole lot added, and a whole lot taken out. Everything that G_d said not to do, Christianity did. Back in the 70s when we were still forced to be Christians, I was a counselor for Billy Graham on his Crusades and had to take extensive Bible training. Even back then they told the truth that the Christian's bibles are mistranslated. They only showed us the differences between the Greek Septuagint and the modern Christian's bibles though. Two totally different reads. They never did get into the Hebrew text. The Christian's so called "old testament " is Not the Torah/Tanach. G_d wrote the Torah before creation. G_d encoded the Torah/Tanach, The Hebrew letters and the Hebrew language so there is much hidden in plain sight. The Torah Is THE BOOK OF LIFE and the Blueprint of Creation. I’m sorry but your explanation is worthless. In the gospel of John, chapter 19, it says that Joseph of Arimathea and Nicodemus wrapped the body of Jesus with spices and then interred him. Rabbi Singer is correct in noting that the author of John was attempting to fix what are obvious problems with the other gospels. There is no way on earth Jewish women would have come to the tomb with spices several days after the body was buried and performed this procedure on the body of a naked man. There is absolutely no way that would have happened. You can tell that the authors of the other gospels are Greek and not Jewish because they did not know how absurd their story would appear to Jews. It is completely unbelievable and highly improbable. Just one of the many, many inconsistencies and errors found in all of the gospel stories.

This rabbi is just like the Pharisees back then they cannot accept or do not want to believe that they don't recognise there Messiah. They are set up for a great deception when the one they will believe is their messiah turns out to be the Anti Christ, after 3 and half year's of good he will turn out to be Satan himself, then 3 and half year's of tribulation before Jesus returns and ends it all. During the tribulation period the Jews will come to their senses and see the truth and lead many to Faith in Jesus, saving many. God bless

The women did not come to wash the body. In none of the gospels is there any mention of such intent on anyone's part. They came to anoint. Because when Joseph and Nicodemus took over the body from Pilate, they wrapped him in a linen cloth and piled 60 pounds of spices on him - which was a common J. custom and the women could not have been ignorant of it. So spice wasn't lacking in the burial procedure. But they hurried the job, due to upcoming sabbath, and did not anoint him. That's what the women came to do. And I would assume they did it to show devotion and respect. Nothing too strange in that scenario, whether it be real or not.

Just wondering if the tomb Jesus was placed in was meant as temporary? Would spices be reapplied to the linens prior to transporting a body to it’s final resting place. Could the women have simply been delivering the spice mixture in preparation for the body’s reanointing and removal from the tomb by those authorized to do so? Did the followers of Jesus do things according to the Talmud or the Old Testament or break some traditions like David’s soldiers eating the Holy Bread? Also wondering if an underground water source could cool a tomb/cave down to slow a decomposition. Surely there must have been a water source nearby that Tomb to maintain the Garden in close proximity to it.

Jewish burial Washing and Anointing In both ancient and modern Jewish practice, the body is ritually washed (in a process called tohorah) after death before being wrapped in a shroud. The practice of anointing varies over time and location, but in ancient tradition, the body was also anointed with oils and sometimes wrapped with aromatic herbs such as olive, laurel, palm and cypress to help fight the effects of the rapid decomposition that occurred in the Mediterranean heat. However, it should be noted that Reform Jews do not partake in tohorah.

My understanding the women were going to anoint jesus body by pouring a liquid over it. This was to stop it smelling. The body had been previously wrapped and prepared with spices for burial. Was said to be a quick burial before the beginning of the sabbath.

Even back then they told the truth that the Christian's bibles are mistranslated. They only showed us the differences between the Greek Septuagint and the modern Christian's bibles though. Two totally different reads. Unfortunately they never did get into the Hebrew text. The original Hebrew text is totally different than the Christian's so called "old testament ".

Hi Tovia' You are actually - putting aside - much more than you realize . ;) There are a couple of reasons that saying the empty tomb scenario - couldn't have taken place - is just a tad unjustified - just like you said in another of your presentations relatively recently - that it was basically unlikely that the Roman authorities would have consented to allowing Joseph of Arimathea to take Jesus' body down off the cross or stake - because the Romans usually left the bodies on the Crucifixion stakes for some time after death - as an example to others - to basically not cross the Romans or their laws. You didn't use those exact words of course - that's just my understanding of what you were saying. Be that as it may, I'd like to cover that aspect of Jesus' death here first up - because, for a start, Jesus did not die on Good Friday - because He actually did give the Religious leaders of His day a sign that would cement His claims of Being the Jewish Messiah for that 1st century Age: "Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth." Now, Matthew was seemingly or apparently the only one of the Gospel authors that records Jesus as saying that a sign was given to that evil generation of Religious leaders seeking a sign of His Messiah-ship and, from the 'Bombshell' chapter as you call Matthew 23 - Matthew also shows Jesus had a certain amount of distaste for the Hypocrisy shown by those religious leaders as Matthew 23:1-33 shows clearly. Matthew also covers some things in his testimony or gospel account of Jesus' life and times that the others don't seem to cover as well or even at all in some cases - because the rest of Matthew 23 gives the only two reasons FOR the upcoming the Destruction of the second Temple in that 1st century being the persecution and Deaths of the those apostles and NT authors sent to warn of that impending destruction of the second temple and Jerusalem and even the blood of the Prophets being required of that 'evil' generation of Priesthood - that at some point in the past their ancestors Murdered the Prophet Zechariah near the Altar in that second Temple also: "Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! Behold, your house is left unto you desolate." [Matthew 23:33-38] I'll get to verse 29 shortly - because the Jews are most certainly not holding up Jesus' - second - coming to Earth - even though apparently some in Christendom seemingly think that is the case - because that second coming already occurred in the 1st century - 3 days and 3 nights after His death. ;) But only if you believe Acts 1:2-12 to be a true account of Jesus' appearing bodily to his disciples. Regarding the 3 days and three nights 'sign' of the length of time Jesus would be in the Tomb, however - IF the accounts about the women coming to the Tomb before Daybreak on a Sunday morning are accurate and each of the Gospel authors that cover incident that seem to agree on the 'first light' Sunday morning visit by the Women. And you are exactly right - it doesn't matter how many women actually visited on that Sunday morning. :) [Matthew 28:1, Mark 16:2&9, Luke 24:1, John 20:1&19 ] However, counting backwards from before first light on a Sunday morning - 3 full periods of Daylight and 3 full periods of nighttime - doesn't take you to a Friday at all. Unless you belong to another planet with different math to our long established human variety. ;) Now as to why Joseph of Arimathea might have been given consent to take Jesus' body down from the Cross - is because of the annual Holy day [i.e. the Passover ] falling on that week in the Middle of that week and Jesus' crucifixion therefore being before the Passover Annual Holy days began - and to leave his body on the Stake - would have most likely have caused a disturbance among the Jews that the Roman Authorities would not have wanted - since Jesus was relatively Famous and regarded as a prophet by the masses and claiming to be a King of the Jews - so they were just covering their own arses by allowing Joseph to take the body down. Daniel's 70 weeks prophecy [Daniel 9:24-27] shows the Messiah was to be 'cut off' in the Middle of a Week. [Daniel 9:26-27] Daniel 9:26 is clearly a reference to Vespasian as being the one to destroy the City [ Jerusalem] and the sanctuary. [ the second Temple] "And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined." Just as clearly the Jewish historian, Josephus' 'wars of the Jews' accounts were covering the desolation's of both Jerusalem and the second Temple that were to follow - that Jesus' apostle John was required to prophesy about as Revelation's 'small book' prophecy from Revelation 10:8 through to that prophecy's ending in 11:2 shows clearly also: "And he said unto me, Thou must prophesy again before many peoples, and nations, and tongues, and kings. And there was given me a reed like unto a rod: and the angel stood, saying, Rise, and measure the temple of God, and the altar, and them that worship therein. But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months." [Revelation 10:11--11:2] That entire' small book' prophecy represents - the internal dating - of the book of Revelation [contrary to the secular scholars assumptions that it was written by some 'unknown John' in the Emperor Domitian's time of between 81-96AD*] to having been completed before Mid 66-70AD and thus, all the other Gospel Authors books and Paul's writings also - therefore - to well before 65-66AD since John's Revelation prophecies were announcing Events which were 'soon' and were AT HAND - to come to pass in that 1st century era. i.e. as Revelation 1:1 & 3 show clearly; "The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass;" [first part of Revelation 1:1] "Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand." [ Revelation 1:3] * Refer to Wikipedia article Titled; 'Book of Revelation' for details of the incorrect dating of the book to the wrong Era - similar to the secular scholars incorrect dating of the book of Daniel to 200BCE or Antiochus IV Epiphanes's era of around 167-164BCE due to their assumption that Daniel 11:40-45 was inaccurate in covering Antiochus' military campaigns and Death when it is actually covering Vespasian and Titus' Military campaigns and Vespasian's death - due to natural causes instead. But that's a whole other story I need not go into here atm - but reading the Article Titled; 'Vespasian' at Wikipedia puts Daniel 11:40-45 into its true time-slot of having been written in Ezra's Post Babylonian captivity time - making the book of Daniel highly accurate to the Nth degree and not the least bit 'Mythical' as scholars claim in their 'Book of Daniel' article at Wikipedia. ;) As for verse 39 of Matthew's reference to the Jews recognizing Jesus as their true Messiah - Matthew shows clearly that the Masses did indeed Acknowledge Jesus in that very specific way - in the first century so the modern day Jews are not holding up Jesus return as the Messiah in our modern age at all - because He's Coming back as their God and their rightful King instead. [Zechariah 14:3-18] IF Jesus was as popular and as well known as Matthew says He was - there's no way the Romans would have refused Joseph of Arimathea's request for Jesus' body to be taken down before a major Jewish annual festival season was to be celebrated in the Middle of that passover week. "All this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy King cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, and a colt the foal of an ass. And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them, And brought the ass, and the colt, and put on them their clothes, and they set him thereon. And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed them in the way. And the multitudes that went before, and that followed, cried, saying, Hosanna to the son of David: Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord; Hosanna in the highest. And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this? And the multitude said, This is Jesus the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee." [Matthew 21:4-11]

Oh my goodness, I get it. You don't want to believe so you stay in darkness. Remember when the woman poured the valuable perfume on the feet of Jesus and wiped it with her hair? He said she understood that it was for his burial. Remember that it was the Sabbath , they barely had time to place Him in the tomb, so they had to return. Remember that the Children of Israel were slaves in Egypt for hundreds of years - what happened to the Pharaohs? They preserved them with expensive herbs and perfumes. Jesus was the King of Kings they wanted to honor Him. The tomb was guarded by Roman soldiers , the most highly trained soldiers of the time - maybe ever. It was an automatic death sentence to allow that body to be taken. What other force other than a mighty , terrible angel could have rendered these seasoned fighters like dead men. Bottom line Rabbi, the tomb is empty, He is risen, all power in Heaven and Earth has been given to Jeshua. Stop kicking against the goads, like Paul did, before it's too late.

LOL, they did not see Jesus as just a man, he was the messiah. They rushed to put Jesus in the tomb because of the special high day due to passover. You don’t need an “excuse” to visit Jesus tomb, he was the messiah, they worshipped him. They were heart broken. Your excuse is childish. There’s guys who date a girl and when they break up they’ll go sit at a place they went together because they’re grieving. Your excuse is not solid.

One thing that has bothered me about the whole Passion story is that all the disciples reportedly ran away after Jesus was arrested, yet we have detailed accounts of conversations that took place behind closed doors (the trial, Pilate, Herod). So how do we know what happened and who said what? Now, when I was growing up all this was very simply explained by the nuns--the Holy Spirit told each gospel writer what to write and that was that. No need for further questions, no need to look deeper. But it seemed to me even then there were holes in this story. If Jesus was buried on Friday night, and the tomb didn't get a guard until Saturday night, that means that there was a big chunk of time where the tomb was unattended. Also, why didn't the resurrected Jesus appear in public the way he did before he died? Contrary to what many Christians assume, the disciples did not officially announce the resurrection the day it supposedly happened, but on Pentecost, two months later and at least one month after Jesus had supposedly ascended into heaven. Why wait so long? And where were the Romans that day--Acts makes no mention of them being present, even though it was a major festival with thousands of pilgrims? You can't tell me that they were all over the city during Passover because they were afraid of an uprising, yet when Pentecost rolls around, they don't seem to be a bit concerned about the goings-on with Peter and the other apostles. As I've gotten older I've come to question this story even more. I am beginning to wonder, did the arrest, trial and crucifixion even happen at all?

You need to do some detective work... there are snippets of information dotted around the gospel narratives that will help answer some of the things that bother you... including secret believers in positions of authority that might have been privy to events that took place out of the public eye.... such as Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea. The disciples waited until Pentecost because Jesus told them to wait until the Holy Spirit of promise was given...etc...etc. Luke 24...9 And behold, I am sending the promise of My Father upon you; but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with power from on high.”

However, the spices were not allowed to be applied because the Sabbath was about to begin. Naturally the women followed the command of the Sabbath and rested on that day. So they went back the day after to apply the spices. So the women going down to the tomb were not there to clean the body of Jesus, that had already been done. They simply wanted to apply the spices externally. Get your facts straight before you are manipulated by Satan to deceive and mislead.

The family brought spices to the tomb on Sunday after sunrise. I didn't read anywhere about the body being anointed. ??? This is a disappointing answer. Please stop claiming Jesus died on Friday. Every Jew knows Passover is eaten on a Sabbath day, so there is no way Jesus died the same day he ate the Seder. He was arrested on the 15th. The story illustrates the power of language in general, and word choice in particular. I'm referring to the use of the word, 'anoint'. To a native English speaker, 'anoint' carries with it a sense of ritual paired with requirement. Pair this with the details of a hasty burial in order to comply with Mosaic law as told earlier, and one is left with the feeling that 'something' wasn't done. 'Something' that was REQUIRED wasn't done. The author doesn't have a line saying, "The women went to anoint the body to fulfill the commandment /the law of (blank),...." But the IMPRESSION of ritual requirement hovers above the scene. 'Anoint' puts it in the reader's mind. The idea of women doing this is less unbelievable given the haphazard history of abbrogating social commandments in the history of Jesus. Eating picked corn, healing,..on the sabbath can just as easily be used to fortify the claim of truth in light of the history. "Rules for thee (then), But, not for thee (or me) now."

I don't think that's his point at all. His point is that nowhere does the Jewish scriptures mandate or discuss anointing dead bodies with spices. People did it because it helped to allow sufficient time for family to gather and the burial to happen without the smell of decomposition being too strong. Women don't go back after the burial with spices to anoint the bodies of deceased men from two/three days ago. I suppose you could come up with ad-hoc ideas, such as that they were anointing if there was going to be another burial within the supposed Joseph of Arimathea's family, and they were going to share the freshly cut new tomb or something.

Rebbe Tovia forgets that in April (when Jesus was buried) temperatures in Jerusalem are close to refridgeration temperature at that time of year inside a stone tomb at night. Contrary to the description given by Rebbe Tovia, Jesus's body was not "dug up", he was lying in state in a cold stone tomb below the ground level. Jesus was placed ad hoc in a single shroud folded over to be attended to more attentively after the Sabbot was observed. The NT does explain the delay in preparing the perfumes, there was simply no time to prepare the body and so the women had to wait until after the Sabboth (around 6 pm Saturday to put perfume on him, Jewish first day Sunday actually begins after the first 3 stars on Saturday night are seen), . A certain sinful woman was give specific instructions by Jesus at a dinner when he was alive to keep perfumes for him at his death (Luke 7:36).. So Jesus's body was cold and lying in state for only 24 hours , his body was still fresh. Rebbe Tovia knows this.

@@FrankNStein-pf9rr per Christian belief he was a perfect, kosher, Jew. The women who it says washed his body were Jews. Did you not hear Rabbi? If they were not Jews even non Jews would do that because of stench & disease. You people need to be humble when shown errors.

@@Sola-Scriptura444 The Moshiach of the Bible Dies for No one, he Atones for No one's sins, he is Not born of a Virgin, he is Not the Son of Gd, he is Not Gd in the flesh, he is Not a Sacrificial Resurrecting demigod who dies for the People, as all those are PAGAN CONCEPTS derived from PAGAN MYTH, Not the Bible/Judaism. Psalms 92.10 But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn I shall be anointed with fresh oil. Isaiah 33.5 The Lord is exalted for he dwelleth on high he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness. Psalms 18.46 The Lord liveth and blessed be my rock and let the God of my salvation be exalted. 1 Samuel 21.9 And the priest said the sword of Goliath the Philistines whom thou slewest in the valley of Elah behold it is here wrapped in a cloth behind the ephod if thou wilt take that take it for there is no other save that here And David said There is none like that give it me. The Philistines put golden mice in the ark of the covenant. Solomon opened the ark of the covenant and the comments was all that was in it. The Philistines are a part of Israel by the comments of God
