Yep, George didn't have much issue with people who hold a belief in supernatural things, as long as they're not shoving it down people's throats, but he definitely had issue with the hypocrisy and mind control that comes from organized religion. I think part of his aim in being so aggressively anti-theist in his shows was to make religious folks as uncomfortable as religious folks make atheists and agnostics.
@natureboihikes78273 жыл бұрын
He also wanted his pointed comedy and blunt honesty to inspire open and intelligent discussion. He sometimes just got exasperated by the sheer mental enslavement of reason that organized religion often fosters and facilitates. While I wish he were still around to offer his unfiltered views of current events, it is probably good he isn't because seeing what has occurred over the last six years probably would have given him an aneurism.

"But he does show himself in miracles." A miracle isn't showing himself. A miracle is something happening that you have no explanation for, so you decide that god did it. That's not god showing himself, it's you deciding that something that you can't explain is something that god did. It's completely in your own mind. "Some people actually see him, though, like in dreams and stuff." That's not seeing god, that's having a dream. I have seen a lot of crazy things in my dreams, but that doesn't mean they are real. People dream about things that they have heard about, learned about, hope for, seen, etc.. It's all stuff that our brains put together and come up with while we sleep based on past information. Believers will see god in their sleep because they believe he exist and want to see him, but that doesn't mean they've actually seen him. They need to see him while awake and while not under the influence of drugs for it to have credibility at all. "You can believe in the sun." Yes, because believing in something isn't pretending something is real. It's accepting that something is real. Believing in a god and believing in the sun are not the same belief because the reason for believing in a god is faith and the reason for believing in the sun is that you can see it's there and feel the heat and see it's effects. "Y'all say a little background on Joe Pesci because... we don't know who that is." You have the internet, same as us. Look him up.

@@moebakh9135 Why does god need to test us? Why does god need us to believe in him on faith? How does your comment make sense in the light of sections of the bible where god had apparently revealed himself directly to others? Why does god need us at all? While you're answering those questions, keep in mind that I don't actually believe in a god as I have seen absolutely no evidence of a god. I require evidence of things, and your god, if he exists, would know that. So by not revealing himself to me but wanting me to believe in him after creating me to be this way, he has failed to provide a fair test. The truth is, there is no ultimate point to life. We are not being tested, we are simply surviving as best as we can and simply because we can. Beyond that, what ever point you have for your life is what you give yourself. No god gives that to you, you own that.

Born and raised as a New Yorker, and was known for his black comedy and reflections on politics, English language, psychology, religion and various taboo subjects. He and his *"7 dirty words"* comedy skit(which was a pretty funny and relatable one and recommended) were central to the 1978 U.S. Supreme court case F.C.C. v Pacifica Foundation, in which a 5-4 decision affirmed the government's power to regulate incident material on the public airwaves. And widely regarded as one of the most important and influential American stand-up comics *OF ALL TIME,* and not to mention he dubbed by the newspaper to be *"the Dean of Counterculture comedians".* The guy said a lot of facts and yet was funny about it at the same time, told it like it is and wasn't afraid to speak his own mind and was true a comedic legend. Fact fact: George Carlin played a character called "Rufus" from the movies *Bill and Ted's excellent adventure(1989)* and it's sequel *Bill and Ted's bogus journey(1991),* Starring *Keanu Reeves* and *Alex Winter* from the Lost Boys(1987) Both great movies with awesome soundtracks, highly recommended 😎 *ALSO!* Joe Pesci is an Italian American actor who's well known for being in a couple mafia films like *The Goodfellas,* *Casino* and another good film *My cousin Vinny* and also from the *Lethal weapon* movies, starring *Danny Glover* and *Mel Gibson* and he also played one of the burglars named *Harry* from the first 2 *Home alone* movies. George Carlin "saving the planet" Another great awaking commentary
@sobo20014 жыл бұрын
Even if God answered all my prayers, and helped me through all the hard times, what about the people who never catch a break. It doesnt make sense to validify God through my own life experience. People like to say that God helps those that help themselves. So apparently God is helping the ones who dont even need it? Sounds like the government.

Yeah, George Carlin was very smart guy, well educated. He told a lot of facts, trying to make sense out of nonsense. The type of comedian who wasn't afraid to speak his mind and he didn't give a damn because he told it like it is. The type of comedian that make you want to think while telling some of his jokes. Some of his jokes can be relatable to everyday life. He wasn't just a comedian but he was a pholosifer as well. Likes to make you laugh and educate you at the same time and he wasn't afraid to speak the truth and we loved him for it. *MORE* George Carlin please 😎

You guys both laughed, and made a "how ridiculous" face, when he mentioned being a Sun worshipper, but yet you have no problem believing in a mysterious being floating around in a heaven above. Little food for thought; people have been worshipping the Sun for MUCH longer than any of the current gods, so why is it ridiculous to place faith in it but totally logical to believe in some other god?

I was just like you kids at your age, even was a youth leader, but after watching enough of George's stand up, my bullshit detector had become so empowered, I couldn't stomach the church anymore

He's in a lot of gangster movies like Casino and Goodfellas!! And I agree, he's not to be screwed with. But he was one of the most popular actors in the world in the early '90's, which was when this was filmed.

You should have mentioned Joe Pesci's name so they know who you were referring to. One might think that you might be saying that GEORGE CARLIN was in a lot of Gangster movies.

I've watched few reactions to Carlin and one thing that bothers me is that young people, but far from beeing kids, still believe in fairytales in 21st century. The other thing I see is that none of them know who Joe Pesci is xD

How do you know ther is a higher power? What evidence have you based that on? I have a saying. "If you can't show it, you don;t know it". everything I KNOW I can demonstrate to be factual.
