I love the chaotic sense this series manages to create. Nobody can quite tell what’s going on, but it leaves an eerie feeling in the mind of the viewer. It doesn’t need jumpscares or anything like that to make it scary, it’s just the sheer quantity of unknown mysteries we are surrounded in.

As a Christian, I see this less as an offensive joke and more as a jab at the idea of "we deserve your land because of our beliefs" where people try and use a peaceful ideology to justify violence (think for example The Crusades or ISIS) as well as the nationalist view of always being morally right when compared to other countries.

It's around 5 for imposter, 6 for among us, and 3 for Suspicious. So really: Revelations => Among Us.

ok holy FUCK this is probably my favorite video ever released by Mr.Manticore yet. how the fuck do you perfectly balance humour and horror, wordlessly flesh out the culture of the united states in this universe, AND set up parallels for future events in under 3 Minutes?? also, just a heads up, spoilers below firstly the concept of jesus being used as a super weapon in the vietnam war is like, fucking hilarious. like fuck the alt history plotlines of 'wHaT If gErManY wOn WwIi' we need more batshit insane ideas like THIS. but also, it wordlessly fleshes out the culture of the US at the time. it would be far more accurate to call this conflict the Vietnam Crusade rather than the Vietnam War, because it was nationalism justified by divine forces (a divine force they created !!) that led to war, rather than cold war conflicts. Clearly, in this universe, Christianity is a way bigger deal in the U.S. in this reality than ours in the 70's, and that is. kind of terrifying? even in our world, christian and catholic belief was used to horrificly abuse kids. i don't want to know what it was like over there. not to say that the cold war had no part in it? i mean the korean war happened as well, so the cold war had to have been happening. however, if religious belief hadn't fueled the fight then i doubt jesus wouldn't have been used in combat. and i mean USED used. Jesus wasn't a soldier on the field, he was a literal weapon deployed by the troopers. the glimpse of him we see on the field, he is surrounded by soldiers, strung up on a cross. divine figure or not, i doubt there's much active fighting one can do while crucified. I find it very interesting that Jesus Christ, in this universe, was manufactured by the U.S. like, not the concept of jesus, but like. the actual physical manifestation of christ. it is no longer a metaphor of the U.S. using its religious ideals to crush foreign, ""lesser"" countries, that is literally what is being done here. furthermore, it's interesting how Vietnam is described as the 'first saved state', implying that Vietnam would be assimilated into the (assumed) 51st state. Not only is this a horrific twist on the concept of redemption so prevelent in Christian belief, but also directly parallels the U.S's actions with native Americans. (just a heads up, i only have like. a very basic understanding of native American assimilation, so if i get some stuff wrong please correct me. I do not have any Native American heritage myself, i just want to point out some pretty interesting parallels) from what i have gathered, the violence against native Americans was justified by, you guessed it, religious fueled nationalism. Americans were the ""brave explorers"", and they were violent and animalistic ""savages"". obviously this was horseshit, the US was invading upon the Natives land, and the Native Americans were simply defending their home. of course, the U.S. took these acts of self defense as a justification to escalate the conflict. however, the native Americans weren't exempt from ""redemption""! as long as they gave up their land and culture and attended our Christian schools, they wouldn't die and instead be subject to just the normal amount of racism every other racial minority faced. it wouldn't surprise me if the exact same thing was happening in Vietnam. For the second time in the U.S's existence, it would deprive a foreign power of it's culture and resources, and act as the saviour by providing their own, more ""civilized"" culture to ""redeem"" this foreign power and hey wait a fucking second that's what the lunarians are doing to the U.S. in the present day. they are taking the people's ability to communicate, while also providing their own schools to teach lunarian language what the FUCK. make no mistake, this isn't an epic revenge, this is horrific! there's a clear divide in what a government wants vs what the people in a country want. nothing proves that more than the Vietnam War itself, a war that no one wanted BUT the government (more specifically, no president wanted to be known as the guy who lost the war) if the lunarians are doing this as an act of revenge, why punish innocent civilians, and not the one's who made the decision? it's not like the lunarians are unable to differentiate, as the first interaction with a lunarian PROVED. the queen evicted the guy who made the CALL to open fire from reality, not the guy who was simply following his superiors orders (at probably the threat of losing his livelyhood, maybe worse? i believe in the military, if you disobey a superiors orders, you are liable to some pretty horrible punishments. in the situation of first contact, anything goes) I am really hoping these are actual deliberate connections Mr.Manticore set up in the text and i'm not fucking insane because this shit's been eating away at me for like, a month now. thank you for coming to my ted talk

Both this and the Momument Mythos are probably some of the most potent critiques of American Exceptionalism & Imperialism I've ever seen, and make a lot more people think than twitter tankie posturing. In the Nixonverse we're seeing the corruption of at least two messiah type icons - Superman and Jesus. This episode just flat out acknowledges it's about "their" Jesus, and it's how these ideas being come corrupted, much like how George Washington became the serpent.
