Dre and Ye have a very strong fetish of just not releasing music 💀 having a perfectionist mindset is scary, because there’s so much unnecessary procrastination that gets in the way of the actual music. You just may fall out of touch with the love you made music for in the first place.

Tbh I think one of the main reasons why JIK failed was because Kanye really thought he was doing something for the first time. He thought the “novelty” of mixing Gospel and Rap was enough to make his project interesting. Meanwhile acts like Lecrae, KB, 1K Phew, Andy Mineo, Trip Lee, etc had been making music like this for years. Even Chance the Rapper’s Coloring Book wasn’t that far off from what we saw on JESUS IS KING. I wish he had collaborated with those artists and combined what they had been doing in the underground for 20 years with his own soulful and ever-creative style.

To me Jesus Is king was Fire, people did not get it because it was a gospel album. If people became Spiritual, they would not see it as a gospel album it was just like the ultra beam song in Pablo album. In short if you ain't Spiritual you'll judge it as gospel music but if you become Spiritual you'll realize its not about the mind control gospel

Im so confused by the beginning of this video the 1st Jesus is King album did very well. Every song was number 1, 2, 3, ect on the gospel charts. I mean there was no one on the charts until after all of his tracks. What more can you ask for?? Are we talking about it did bad in sales? I mean we can all listen to music for free now so thats not the best way to critique success.

Jesus is king 2 is pretty awesome too. Because there’s a sense of completeness and a more modern twist to the way the beats and sample are mixed in. Eminem’s verse is still crap though
