Where are the citations? He seems to quote something from the ADL in 2016 suggesting left/right violence is basically equal. The thing I found from the ADL stated that 74% of the 372 people killed in extremist violence between 2007 and 2016 were at the hands of right-wing extremists. These are not just from a single event. I don't know why he brought up the Oklahoma City bombing so often, that was in 1995. What the ADL DOES state is that _in 2016 alone, right-wing extremists did not dominate the murder statistics, as was usual for the past 30 years._ 2016 was also a large year for non-violent right-wing extremism spurred on by the alt right. "Because extremist murder statistics are volatile and can vary considerably between any two given years, the relatively low numbers of deaths connected to right-wing extremists should not yet be taken as indicative of a trend, particularly given the high numbers in recent years. Similarly low numbers in 2017, however, might indicate some sort of shift." Aside from this being 2 years ago, the ADL also stated that white supremacist violence doubled in 2017. 2016 is probably going to end up being the odd one out for a while.
@Jrez6 жыл бұрын
Okay nvm, I finished watching the video. He's just another idiot with a serious case of arrogance and a side of projection syndrome. @@tarisco614 whether or not the court made a good decision has nothing to do with the distinction being discussed. The distinction is that Trump’s tweets are ruled as official government statements that all Americans have a right to read. This doesn’t mean that Twitter all of a sudden becomes a public platform, it means that the president is treated differently than the average person, because having access to the presidents statements is a key part of a functioning democracy. The ruling was that an elected official cannot prevent a citizen from viewing their social media posts, not that a social media site cannot ban an elected official's account. These are 2 completely different things. One is saying that someonw holding public office cannot prevent someone from seeing their speech (which would be a form of government censorship) and the other is saying that a private company cannot enforce their own community guidelines. The fact that this guy can't disentangle these concepts is a bit concerning

I actually understood what this guy is trying to say (I think). isn't he just saying that alex jones can't be sued for defamation because his statements are by definition untrue as part of his character on his entertainment show? I don't know if that would hold up but honestly I get his point. and he's also saying the complete opposite of the coin too, where you could make the argument that journalists reporting on the false story could actually be sued for knowingly publishing the false information, even though they're not saying it's true. I don't know if this could ever happen though. Destiny was trying so hard to say this is wrong because the statement the journalists are making is that someone said something, not about the contents of whatever that person said. so to prove the journalist's statement false, you would need to prove that they knowingly reported that alex jones said something when he didn't. because alex jones did say that thing, they can't prove the journalists wrong, so no defamation lawsuit. hilarious

I’m an attorney and listening to this kid larp as a lawyer was painful. The worst is his repeatedly flexing two of the most basic legal sources available. Blacks law dictionary is just a dictionary, it’s not authoritative. It is palpable how pleased with himself he is when citing “Cornell.” What he’s citing is an online aggregation of the US code that happens to be hosted on Cornell’s website. Its just statutes, but he’s like Andy Bernard with how smugly he unnecessarily name drops. He’s wrong about everything in this conversation, for someone so illiterate he sure is confident in his legal prowess.

An analogy needs to be made to traditional public forums. If the president is meeting with people in a town square, or giving a speech in a local park, if a citizen acts brazenly and constantly yells/interrupts and causes a huge disturbance, no one seems to have a problem with the secret service removing that person. That's the Twitter equivalent of blocking a troll whose goal is to rile people up rather than having dialogue.
