Hello! If you are still there I have a question Do you have an interest in aviation? I was just wondering because the planes act very similar to how they would act in real life, and the only thing I found that criticized this scene was the cannon sound, which to date no movie has ever got right, not even Top Gun Maverick. So I don’t really count that! But anyway my question is that I heard there was a sequel to this film? Or was it cancelled? Or mabye I was just misinformed. Thanks for taking the time to read this message
@IndependentVFX7 ай бұрын
Thanks for the great comment. Yes, I absolutely do have a love and interest for aviation. I know what you mean about the canon sound, hopefully someday some sound guy will get it right. There was talk about a sequel being done, but I havnt heard anything yet. Perhaps now with Pakistan having the J-10 theres a good reason to make a sequel!

1 = 0:15 when pilots have to be scrambled. a siren is sounded and pilots run to their designated hangers / aircrafts. they are told about the mission during take off but here they are seen being told all the vectors while being scrambled which wastes time as each second counts. 2 = 2:19 pilot is seen using guns at a very close range while he is carrying 4 missiles and he could've shot the mirages from far away. also it is a part of pilots training in which they are specially told to not to pass fly into the debris of the destroyed aircraft. 3 = 1:07 they are seen flying supper sonic but only few feet from each other which would be very difficult. also one took of before the other one but they are very close at one point which shows that the first one waited for the second one to come. this is dangerous as they are potentially giving enemy time to come. i have first handedly seen PAF fighters flying supersonic to the Kashmir border on Feb 2019 (don't remember the exact date but it was Saturday or Sunday) and they had at least 10-15 second separation between them.

Great work Scott, I've watched this about 5 times now, I like the fist bump they give each other, very 'Top Gun'. I wanted to ask, did they give you the specific Log C luts to use in After Effects, I might be doing some collaborations soon and I'm not sure if this is something I need to be asking about? Thanks
@IndependentVFX5 жыл бұрын
Thanks CG Visuals - to answer your questions: The original footage was Red, so on import in After Effects you are able to interpret the Red Raw in a way that replicates LogC. Then I would design the comps to work with a standard Arri Alexa LogC to Rec709 LUT to try and standardize everything. I had cineon renders coming out of 3D which are significantly different to the Alexa LogC, but the Aexa LogC proved to be a good middle ground (for me anyway).
@CGVisualsVFX5 жыл бұрын
@@IndependentVFX OK I think what I'll do if it is Log, is create an adjustment layer with the Alexa LogC so I can see what it would look like and then when I take it off everything should match the flat color profile and not stick out when color grading, thanks.
@IndependentVFX5 жыл бұрын
@@CGVisualsVFX Work and composite all your layers to look correct in the "flat" Log colour profile. Place an adjustment layer at the top of all your layers and then apply a LogC to Rec709 LUT to this (you can use Lumetri Color and use one of the Alexa LUT presets), this adjustment layer acts as a grading or LUT preview that you can turn on or off at any time. Thats one way to do it. There are other ways using After Effects's color space management and output profiles. But I personally prefer the manual method.
@CGVisualsVFX5 жыл бұрын
@@IndependentVFX Thanks, I'll remember that I would prefer doing it manually as well, much appreciated.

great shots, great work from independent VFX...par excellence...however i would like the director to explain the following-why the fuck would a so-called 4th gen fighter JF17 choose guns as the preffered weapon before missiles, does it make any sense? also when u know u r too close, why wud u use a CCM? why did the Mirage2000 not use flares&chaffs? kudos to the VFX team,...the film director/writer...they know squat about modern aerial warfare

@TLDR_filmmaker5 жыл бұрын
Hey Scott! Thank you so much for sharing a bit of this sequence, wonderfully done! Been a fan of the channel since the custom muzzle flash videos years back! It was also nice to see a little of your BTS on what shots were done where and what you used to complete the composite. This all helps me as I'm currently developing a shot sequence somewhat similar to how this was approached for my next indie feature film. The only problem is it takes place at high speeds on the ground (Not too crazy looking futuristic military equipped hoverbikes). I know I will have to do what "Sherdil" did by mixing specific composite and CGI shots, the part that's killing me is planning camera movements while also giving the illusion of fast speed with foreground objects passing the characters and camera. I guess my question would be... is the easiest way to achieve such a sequence is to purchase/build out a full 3D terrain so that all my live shots on a prop hover bike can be handled with virtual camera placement and tracking, then selectively drop in foreground objects within that composite to fill out the missing bits. (and of course all the extra little things like a wind machine, dust, heat distortion etc) My original idea was to use a drone to capture backplate footage at a slightly lower frame rate, speed it up, and then either use CGI bikes for the wide shots and live footage for the close ups, but then I began imagining how the sequence would play out and trying to match a blurry tracking backplate in 3d space sounded like a nightmare. I thank you in advance for reading this insanely long comment, any advice would be awesome, but not necessary as I'm sure you're incredibly busy. Thank you so much for sharing what you do and I look forward to seeing more so I can learn to be a better director for VFX teams (currently just me and another, but hoping to have a VFX team in the future as I'm more of a director/cinematographer)
@ChrisGeden5 жыл бұрын
TLDR Filmmaker same here. Best muzzle flash tutorial out there by far.
@IndependentVFX5 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the kind words. Regarding your question, without getting too specific... my advice would be this: The best way is always to go with real footage first - at the very least this will give you a good reference point to match if you end up creating CGI environments and elements. Also, going with real stuff always tends to give a better look in my opinion. However... you do have to be careful not to create too much cleanup work for yourself - you need to figure out which shots need to be done as chroma shots, and which shots can work with real backgrounds or done in-camera. I think a mixed technique solution is the way to go, as there is never one technique or method that covers all shot types. The most important step is to create a storyboard/shot list and then use that to plan the approach for each shot. I hope that helps.
