Glad to finally see one of these 'in the wild'. As I'm not much of a fisherman and lean more towards family fun, we went with a 252SE. But those supercharged engines sure were tempting. We have all the power we need with ours, all are happy. Hope to see more of your review of this great boat.

I'm interested in using this boat on the great lakes but unlike a prop-drive the jet doesn't have the ability to change the prop to slow the trolling speed. How slow will this boat troll?

Without a trolling motor lowest speed is about 1.5-2 mph

with the newer hull and extra weight, how does it do in big water? Im seriously considering one of these, if it can handle the twice a year trips to the gulf and graveyard of the atlantic

I have not had it out in big water much but I can tell it rides better than our 252S. The boat is still lightweight compared to others in its class. I did have it out on a day where we encountered 2 foot chop and it handled that well. We felt safe and did not get wet.

No more than 3 to 4 days. Longer than that and you start getting barnacle buildup

Not keen on the swim ladder sitting in/on the water. I would imagine that if the boat is hauled after each use you'd be OK but dockside tied up in saltwater the ladder will get snotty quick.

I imagine most have their FSH on a lift or trailer. The ladder is pretty close to the water.

We were waiting for 7 months for R255 to come in and have to say I'm a little disappointed and taken at the same time the side walls of the Hall are flimsy and they cut a lot of corners on the interior as well I have had a Yamaha 242 limited for the past few years it's a great boat I'm completely shocked that Yamaha cut so many corners on this model

I don't think they cut corners, but I do think in this Post Covid environment all manufacturers have been put through an unprecedented situation which caused all sorts of challenges in delivering products on time with quality. Yamaha turned out a pretty good first year boat in our opinion and the 255 FSH will only get better over time. Also bear in mind that a 255 FSH sells for in some cases 50% less than competitive boats in its class. This means that the fit and finish on a Yamaha boat may not be the same as a Cobalt or Whaler.

Anyone else wondering why the bilge pump is running so much?

Not the bilge. That is the livewell running, circulating water so that the bait fish get good oxygen levels. Keeps them lively. The pump continuously fills and drains the well, that is what you're seeing.

@@JetBoatPilot the answer should be “absolutely NO” the Ttop will 100% break loose if anyone tried to tow with it! The screws that holding the ttop will never support the pulling weight of the towing!
