Love this boat, especially for the price. I have a question though. Yamaha says youre supposed to flush out the engines/jet drives ASAP after exposure to salt water. Say you trailer the boat to a new location, and youre staying at a hotel for a week. What are the logistics of actually being able to find a fresh water hose to flush your engines after a day on the water? Maybe I’m being dumb, but this is a genuine concern Ive thought about with all Yamaha boats.
@BoatTEST3 жыл бұрын
Most ramps nowadays have hoses to prevent the spread of invasive aquatic species so a hookup isn’t out of the question. Alternatively, there may be one at the hotel. Worst case…. Just wait till you get home. It’s not really going to harm your boat to wait. Just don’t let the summer go by without a flush. That’s pushing things. - Capt Steve

The boat has a fresh water tank. Should be trivial to hook up the washdown hose to the engine flush ports. I do it on my current boat when a hose isn’t available.

Clearly a lake/bay boat, but a nice package. A deeper V hull might open this up to the coastal crowd. But yeah, a lot of the 500 hp seems wasted.

I'd be curious how this would perform in one of those Haulover Inlet videos. But you're right, not all 25 ft center consoles are built equally. Lack of trim tabs also puts all Yamaha boats at a disadvantage for rougher water. This would be an ideal bay fishing and weekend sandbar boat though. But in the open ocean, I'd be a bit hesitant to go out with this in anything other than ideal conditions.
@korndawggy18013 жыл бұрын
Even though it does seem like a nice boat, I feel you're right about all that power and fuel economy being wasted. Would be nice if they could come up with a stern drive with propellers with all that power or use their outboard technology instead of just jet ski engines.

Took a trip offshore in my buddies 255 FSH, winds were 10-15, seas 2-3 feet. This boat sucks as an offshore fishing platform. It beat us up pretty bad heading back into the wind. Very wet boat in any kind of chop. My Cobia is only a 22 footer and is far superior as an offshore platform. This is a cool boat, just not made for serious offshore fishing. Just my 2 cents. @Teo P

57 mph is impressive, but they REALLY should have put a grab handle on the upper rear part of the captain's seat rather than on the lower part. Under way in rough waters it would have been VERY useful. What are you supposed to do with a grab handle on the bottom of the seat? Big miss~

Only difference is 255 is supercharged and 252 isn't. Some models of the 255 also have the rocking joystick and throttle by wire instead of a physical cable. Those are the only differences. I just bought the new 24 252 with the new 1.9L engines but I fish more than I need a family boat so I wanted the better economy of a naturally aspirated engine.

Only a jet drive could fail to hit 60mph, with 500hp, in a small boat…what a waste 🤦♂️
@jefffawcett16263 жыл бұрын
Jet powered boats are always going to be less efficient (speed, range) than outboard equivalents but they offer some handling and shallow water advantages as well. The biggest advantage of course is cost. Dual outboard powered fishing boats in this length capable of 60+mph will retail new for 2-3x the $82k retail of this rig. I've owned Yamaha jet boats and found them to be both dependable and a good value if you can get accustomed to their operational idiosyncrasies.

You have to have a sea-keeper gyro to take this seriously as an offshore player because the platform not only is amazingly light in weight but also quite buoyant (sits on top of water.) Far too overpriced and wholly lacking in support because of shortages of parts makes this a no go period as of August, 2021. Still definitely know they have a winner so are doing what makes business sense...just total nonsense as far as the customer goes tho...at the moment. Definitely great news for Boston Whaler and Sea Ray...and possibly Mercury Motors as well. By way of example no way to climb above the T-top as an option just says to me not a serious attempt to truly attack this indeed very vulnerable center console market. Plus no mounts for a trolling motor in the bow ... a cheap bow ladder and hardly top of the line anchoring system as needed for offshore work...a lot to really hate here in point of fact. Think I'll go with a Hurricane as a vastly superior product in this class of fun and fish beyond any doubt.

You’re kidding right? This boat can be had for under 100k, a dual engine 25 foot center console boat, good luck finding anything close to that price point, most in this category go easily for 150K and upwards. Yamaha has been successfully making these jet boats now for 2 decades and are they sell like hot cakes for a good reason, parts commonality has become extremely prevalent and they’re not mysterious or difficult to fix anymore. The center console market is diluted with overpriced same-old/same-old crap where you have to pay more for a boat than your house, and frankly uninspired and non innovative designs. Welcome Yamaha to this market, and ask any dealer how popular they are becoming,
