Always an inspiration Chef Corso! Thanks for teaching me how to cook good food on the trail.😉👍 I’m glad I found your channel watching Dan Becker’s channel.

Being in the wind and altitude I prefer my jet boil as a complete cooking system. I'm not usually focused on hyper light weight. Great content.

Been using the Windburner for years in very harsh New England winters and never disappoints. Even lights easily in a blizzard!! Super fast boil times too.

Love your cooking gear videos! Would love to see comparison video between Minimo and Windburner especially with the pans. From little research I have done I see Jetboil Minimo cooks more evenly especially around the sides of the pan. Thanks

The positive with the Minimo: the squatty bot is great for cooking and stirring. The negative: it has the same quarter sized burner as regular jetboils. They're fine but I don't love them. I much prefer the even heat and flame of the windburner.

Just stopping in to say "Hi Chef." I love your bringing REAL cooking into camping. LOVE it!!! Thank you for showing freeze dried isn't the only way to eat. I can't really articulate how much I enjoy watching your videos. PS My early 1990's MSR Whisperlite is still going strong... wink...

Thanks for dropping by CH and appreciate the kind words. Nice! Glad it's still kickin and cookin!

Ooof, you’re not from Louisiana. Can’t put any form of tomatoes in gumbo. I think it’s like a state law over here. Great review. I’m weighing options on buying one of these systems. This really helps. Love the channel.
@allentufts87992 жыл бұрын
Go with the MSR you will not be disappointed. The simmer features alone will give you way more options for cooking. They both are great, but I always reach for the wind burner as its bombproof. As for the gumbo.....welp I won't add anything more than you have already other than andouille sausage weighs the same as the spam and I would have taken that instead....

You ever try deep frying fish you caught with your Windburner? It works since the heat control is so good in the msr. It's such an amazing piece, worth the extra it cost over a Jetboil.

Hey KD! ya know, I haven't put it could probably work for a rig or car camp situation.
@tamaracheeseman1832 жыл бұрын
Very nice! I had no idea that you could bring cut okra on a hike. File Gumbo would also be an option for the gumbo to cut on weight and bulk in the pack, and it is a great thickener.

Hey TC! Yes, it can last for a couple days with minimal issue. And great idea with the filé!

What system would you prefer. Jetboil minimo with jetboil pan or msr windburner with their integrated pan?
@ChefCorso2 жыл бұрын
Good Q. I do like the MiniMo squatty pot but much prefer the MSR windburner stove construction and cooking. As I system, I like MSR and use the chimney, skillet and group pot consistently.

Looking forward to more stove comparisons. This seemed like a bit of a jet boil redemption, but the windburner still looks very cool and like a better potential all arounder to me. But obviously at the expense of a little space and weight. The base for the windburner duo also looks very cool, but I figure I should get into cooking on the trail more before I need to go that direction.
@ChefCorso2 жыл бұрын
Both are very solid options and are good for different reasons. Find the one that works best for you.

One thing that you didn’t include in your chart is if they include a piezoelectric ignition. I know my jetboil minimo does, but I don’t know about the MSR windburner. I noticed you used a lighter, does that mean it does not include one?
@ChefCorso2 жыл бұрын
Good Q MM. Neither includes ignition. I have yet to find an igniter that lasts for the long haul and they break oddly quickly, so I always carry a lighter as a backup.

hi n I like the 2 diff dishes but u used the same utensil 2 stir so u contaminated the vegan dish. also can u do video with penny stove vs sterno inferno? I have health issue whereas I can't use gas stoves. thks rox
@ChefCorso2 жыл бұрын
Hey RB. Indeed I did. Luckily, my vegan friend was ok with it. I'll see what I can do for another alcohol stove video. Check this one out: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eHrUoK2MgJd_Z5Y

You cook much like I do (and I mean when I'm at HOME) - if I were on the trail I'd be taking dehydrated veggies for this type of meal
@ChefCorso2 жыл бұрын
up to you on which ingredients you would like to pack but you can easily pack along some fresh options.
@solidus19952 жыл бұрын
Msr seem to be better in general but the jetboil seems to have a more simple construction which I prefer over the complexity of the msr
@ChefCorso2 жыл бұрын
both definitely have their positives.
@samchallis4482 жыл бұрын
Just odd stove choices because classic Jetboils are known PRIMARILY for their stove/pot integration. That's usually the point of buying a Jetboil.
@ChefCorso2 жыл бұрын
hey SM! the classic models do indeed and that is a pro to them. But this was a new stove and wanted to give it a try.
@Minetoday142 жыл бұрын
Chef.........omg....total food oops, you cross contaminated vegetarian with your keto meat meal.... Doh....looks amazing either way.... :) Don't know how picky your friend is...LOL
@MichaelsPwner2 жыл бұрын
I’m not really concerned with using the same tool to stir both, unless it was an allergy issue. The bigger concern is that he licked the spoon and stuck it into both.
@ChefCorso2 жыл бұрын
good points for both and he was fine with it. Sometimes trail cooking is a little less buttoned up than other times. If there was a strict allergy, then I would have been more mindful. Maybe we all need a little residual spam in our life?...ha
