This country has a a lot to offer, and we are having a blast in Bucharest so far. On this vlog, we walked through Bucharest from Victory Square all the way to Bucharest Old Town to show you the daily life of the locals and the vibes of the city. Check out our Romania travel vlog!

i know the expectations of foreigners regarding Romania are low , but when they come here to see with their own eyes... always they make surprised faces Romania is member European Union since 2007 (just 14 years ago , that means Romania is almost a "teenager" in democracy in comparison with Western Europe) ,and NATO member since 2004 of course the country develop fast in every year , step by step , brick upon brick ... Romania looks better now than the year 2000 , and will be better in the future... than in present.... over 10 , or 20 years Romania still learning...i hope the country will implement the best things coming from West , not necessarily all ...

You are Absolutely Correct! We encountered a gypsy lady carrying a "baby" wrapped up in a white towel while in an uncrowded bus on our way to the Vatican City, Rome. Not Bucharest though. When the bus swerved sharply at the corner, she some how deliberately landed on our male colleague and uttered a foreign language which we thought it sounded like from a gypsy coz she looked like one! When the bus stopped, she alighted like a flash of lightning and we saw her dumping the "baby" in the garbage!😲😱 We told our male colleague probably it was her strategy to pick-pocket him. True enough, his Cash was gone!!⚡😵🤦🏻🤷🏻‍♀️ 23:45 No offence But we saw quite a number of gypsies roaming in Rome especially in the buses and trains! Perhaps, they've moved there instead! 🤔💰💰

Brașov is the most beautiful city in Romania. And the best people in the country. Next to it is Sibiu, lovely town but the prices are high for romanian standards. Cluj is the most modern town of ours with nice people and beautiful sites. Iași, Timișoara are cultural places, with old and new buildings. Maramureș zone is the most pitoresque, if you want to see villages that are neat and cosy, with the most loving people in the world. All Orthodox churches keep more or less close relations to each other. The Patriarch of Constantinople (that's his title, although the city is nowadays called Istanbul) is informally considered the head of an equally informal union of Orthodox churches worldwide. One on one, relations between Orthodox churches reflect the relations between the states they function in.

Bucharest urban planning is a constant work in progress because every regime, the monarchy, the communists wanted to redesign the city but never got to finish and after 1990 it's been no planning whatsoverer. There are urban planning laws but anyone can tear down or build anything due to corruption. A lot of great architecture was lost that way and a lot more is in danger of being torn down and replaced by ugly office blocks or condos.

That's nonsense, most gypsies in Romania don't even know what Rom/Roma/Romanies is, those names for gypsies were pushed by western NGOs in the late 90s and now foreigners confuse Romanian with Roma (the new pc term for gypsies)

@@Zdamaneta Your comment is so over the top disgusting and ignorant since "tigani" means literally slave; It's not very different from the n-word. The fact that so many people are uneducated about our own history and use it casually doesn't take away any of its weight. Here's some basic history you skipped before you jumped straight to spreading misinformation: There's no word for "tigan" in Romani language. The word *rom* means human/man/husband and it's been used by the Romani by centuries. You just still recite some long-debunked propaganda from the early 2000s with the "western NGOs". Every group has the right to call itself what it finds representative. (If Romani was the name given to some rich, white Western population then you would've done anything to get confused with them. Double standards much.) The word "țigan/tsyganskiy/çingene/cigány" was used as pagan and impure in the Byzantine Empire. By the time it got to Romania in the 14th century, it was used to describe slave exchange, and it had nothing to do with ethnicity. The few Romani who were managing to escape slavery, which rarely happened, were no longer called tigani. And your racist comment getting double digit likes shows what's wrong with this country and how much hate is alive and well in it. This holds it back from growing and catching up with the rest of the EU. This type of behavior really hurts our reputation. I hope those who liked your comment more than the OP comment also see this message.

Very few Romanians are speaking nice about their country ... they should be the best ambassadors but they are not, that's why probably Romania is under rated. In fact it's a cultural thing to complain about everything ... always complaining, always. The Bucharest traffic patterns sound very much like what you find in Boston. Sort of a random fishnet. I remember getting lost driving around, it was not fun. I’m glad you had a nice time in România! I was born and live in Bucharest and I can tell you that it is a city that has many beautiful places, but most importantly beautiful people! Of course, there are people that won’t always want your well being, so to speak, there are robbers and scammers still, but we have many things to offer! Unfortunately the government is busy with corruption and stealing the money from our taxes (that are very high) and they couldn’t care less about historical buildings or improving tourism in Romania, but the few of us who still care would want tourists to see Romania for what it truly is! I am Gypsy by the way, but I don’t steal or do bad things and I respect people. We do exist, there’s a lot of great gypsy people with big hearts that have nothing to do with people that do bad things! Thank you and hope you will come again!

To sum up the graffiti situation, the reason everything is covered in graffiti is because there's a huge graffiti scene in Bucharest, rappers promote it, it's part of the extreme sport lifestyle, so every teenage boy thinks it's the coolest thing to do, and ruining beautiful things with your graffiti tag is considered cool and rebellious. Most guys do it at least once in their lives.

I might be late to the party but I have a few "corrections" to make. Or rather warnings. You are absolutely right about the good sides but rather missing the bad parts. I will start with the funniest one. The old town actually IS a tourist scam trap. It might not seem so to you because you're not exactly used to the prices and economy here BUT the Old Town has very, VERY high prices, especially because of the tourists. Like, everything you find in the old town can be even double the price than any other place. Another thing related to the first, it is not as safe as you make it sound. It is safe in big areas because they're big tourism attractions and we happen to protect those areas more, both by law and as citizens. Funny enough even the "dangerous people" avoid doing anything wrong in these places because they know it brings a lot of money. But don't wander around at night, straying off the main places, assuming you won't be mugged at knife point. (we don't really use guns over here). Last but not least, the crime rate is low because the only crime that's counted is the REPORTED crime. A lot of it isn't reported or it's simply swept under the rug or we simply deal with it on the spot.. It is more common for a Romanian to take matters into their own hands than call for law enforcement.. It has it's ups and downs but I guess that's how we are?

The primary population in Romania are Romanians. There are isolated communities of gypsies that actually cause problems. But they are not native Romanians, they are nomads who settled with the flow of immigrants hundreds of years ago. The news spread that Romania is a country dominated by gypsies, because they cause problems everywhere they go. But every country in the EU has its gypsies, only that each country manages its internal problems differently, and unfortunately the laws protect gypsies in our country because they have the right to vote and everyone has something to gain. But for the most part Romania is super safe and beautiful at the same time. Too bad that some people give their opinion until they see it with their own eyes. Thank you, however, for showing the truth through what you do!

Like in most of countries from the former communist block the corruption and the lack of interest and planning from the authorities made all this progress to seem like pulling teeth and pushed the people to leave. 3.4 million Romanians left the country in the last 10 years; second highest emigration growth rate after Syria(as of the 2018 statistics) .
