never use these for something important. there was a case in my university where one student used a frixion pen for calculus midterms. the lecturer left the answers in his car for a whole day, and it disappeared. completely. she had to retake the test alone. i like the fact that you won’t need correction liquid/tape with this, but after that case, i hardly use my frixions anymore.

These are good for marking important parts of your notes and books but I wouldn’t recommend writing your notes with it. I used to use them when I was in Germany but after coming to Japan I stopped using them. All of the important parts of my notes disappeared a week before my exams when it was summer. I had to ask my friends to let me copy their notes and found out that they only use the frixon pen to either underline or highlight what’s important.

I’m pretty sure it’s heat sensitive ink so if you put it in the freezer the writing will come back

Hi there! According to Pilot Japan's website, the ink will disappear at 65 Celsius and maybe reappear at -10 C. Hope this helps!

This actually happened to me when I forgot a school assignment in my car in the summer. Fortunately the professor could see that there was something written there so she let me write over it with another pen and bring it in the next day. I loved the frixion multipens for years. Like others said it erases in hot temperatures, also the ink runs out super quickly and the ink tends to skip. I used them so much that I had to replace the ink at least once a month and the refills aren't cheap. I've since switched to pilot coleto and fill it with mechanical pencils with colored lead.

I love the pastel Frixion markers with the white body and colored caps. Any chance they come in NON-eraseable? The colors are perfection, but I hate how the ink vanishes if left in a hot room/car/etc. I've tried putting those pages in the freezer and the ink somewhat comes back, but not nearly as vibrant-- and the yellow ink doesn't reappear well for me. I would love to see pastel Frixion available in a non-heat sensitive version. I want what I write permanent, and the "freezer method" isn't my favorite.

Tip for frixion pens. I've had success storing them in a bag and inside my closet because it gets super hot in the state I live in :/ I've had the ink disappear when stored in a hot car, so don't store them there haha. Also, I don't like using the pens so much. If I use them for notes, I'll upload my notes right away to my phone so that I won't lose them in case they disappear. Don't use them for permanent documents. Also, I love the markers a lot. I'll continue using the markers because I like to use them for diagrams in my notes.

I love using FriXion for my notes (and also my tests). Every time we take a test, I'm always afraid that something might happen that will erase the ink. Since we'll be having online classes this year, I won't have to worry about that 😂

Did you leave the pen in a hot car, or similar hot area? Ink may have a disappearing effect if that happens, put your pen in the refrigerator for a few hours and see if the ink color returns. Curious to see if this may be your case over it running out of ink so soon.

People are complaining about how the ink disappears when left in hot temperatures for extended periods of time, but even though I live in Thailand, which is a very hot country, I never had that problem! Maybe it's because I rarely use the Frixtion pens but are use the highlighters instead, and I love the pastel highlighters so much 🍬

Here are my very few complaints, when the ink is erased it leaves a slightly brown/ orange stain on the paper and it is hard to write over something that has previously been erased, sometimes the rollerball tip doesn't dispense enough ink to draw a good line even with a brand new cartridge

FriXion series is high tech, but it will disappear when put in a high temperature area. My favourite Japan's stationery still are Pilot (retractable ball pen and mechanical pencil) and Pentel (retractable gel pen)

protip: dont use the eraser on top of the pen. Use a regular lighter and shortly hold it against the paper, since the eraser sometimes damages the paper the flame does not. its not the friction what removes the ink, its the heat. I know fire and paper? it works just fine just watch out near the edges ofcours, and only use the flame for a very short moment on the paper

The FriXion gel pens all use the same ink, so it's entirely up to personal preference!

Hello Jetpens, I have had a problem with the FriXion point (American line). I had bought it a few month ago, and all of a sudden, it the ink stopped flowing. Also, the tip is slightly bent.

Oh no! Try to store the pen in your freezer overnight, then remove it for an hour or two prior to writing to allow it to come back to room temperature. FriXion ink is thermo-sensitive, and if a FriXion pen is exposed to too much heat or sunlight the ink can actually become "erased" inside of the pen, causing the pen to write as if it were dried out. Storing the pen in freezing temperatures will usually reactivate the coloring in the ink and allow the pen to write normally. Let us know if this works!

If the ink doesn't actually "erase" (it instead disappears due to exposure to the heat generated by the friction of the eraser) then is it true that "erased" content could return if exposed to cold again? I am confused about this because people say that if you leave a document in a hot car and the ink disappears then you can just place the document in a refrigerator to make the ink return. Wouldn't that same process work for ink that you erased with the eraser if the action/purpose of the eraser is to generate heat in order to make the ink disappear???

Now I'm more confused than ever. I don't want it to be a "guarantee"! In fact, I want my erased markings to be erased permanently (ideally). I don't really understand the application for your pens when erasures are as certain as a slot-machine payout... If I am writing to someone else and make a mistake in my written correspondence (I write "I hated the food last night" then change it to "I disliked the food last night"), it seems possible that the recipient can determine what I originally wrote by cooling my card. If I'm using the pen for my personal notes then it seems that unwanted text may re-appear, causing readability issues as I try to figure out what was erased and re-appeared and what was never erased. I also wonder how cold the ink has to get in order to re-appear? And after it re-appears, does it stay visible when the paper gets back to room temperature?

The temperature has to reach below -10° C for it the ink to reappear, so your writing should stay erased unless you put it into a refrigerator or freezer.

warning: be careful and mindful of your surroundings and environment with these frixion writing supplies! your writing will disappear if left in a hot area for a certain period of time (ex. left in a hot car, a hot classroom, a hot bedroom, near a heater, etc.) these pens are meant to erase when they come in contact with heat, so please be careful with your notes and papers with which you use these pens to write! if you live in a particularly hot climate that is hot much of the time or hot in places where you generally keep you notes and papers, consider buying a different type of pen and keep in mind that these are meant to erase when in constant with heat/friction! (in terms of friction, this also means that your writing could erase from lots of rubbing on the paper [ex. if your paper is held loose in a binder or in a loose notebook and frequently rubs against things] so be careful with that as well!)

They work well on top of other inks! It depends more on the type of ink you use whether it smudges (for example, rollerballs will smudge no matter what highlighter you use).
