Could the New York Jets attempt to trade for Detroit Lions Quarterback Hendon Hooker this off-season? If the NY Jets aren't enamored with any of the QB's in this upcoming class, they could pounce on a talented backup option who could have an opportunity to start if Aaron Rodgers departs. As always..Go Jets!

What about Jordan Travis? Everyone seems to have forgotten him. If he is fully recovered from his injury from a couple of years ago, I'd sure like to see what he has to offer the Jets this preseason. Obviously so much is hinging on what happens with Aaron Rodgers. Hopefully that will be resolved soon.

These people are so clueless. They must not watch College football and just go by the combines and pro-days and pre-season games. Travis won his last 17 games in college, beat Jaden Daniels both times they played, and holds the all time TD record at Florida State, a legendary football program, and he did it in just 2 1/2 years as their starter.

@@christopherschlacter4953 bruh, that sucks…I say they’re sorry because I was fucking born and raised in Syracuse, NY. I lived in that shithole city for 26 years until I joined the Army to fucking leave. I have seen too many seasons where su barely won 5 if that games a season. When I was 16 with some influence from my HS principal I became an Ohio State fan. A few years later out of spite of my hometown team I chose also to root for Duke. McCord transferred to that wasteland disgrace of a city after playing for a premium program in Columbus. Ohio State after McCord left went onto winning the national championship. Bet he feels silly doesn’t he? So yeah they’re sorry, the city is a shithole. The university is an over priced academic laughing stock. After I got out of the Army I stayed in the area surrounding the installation I was stationed at in middle Tennessee. Throw in the Tennessee Volunteers as another team to root for just for safe measure as a way to embrace my new home. I can’t wait till next football season as Tennessee takes on Syracuse in the first week of the season. The orange will face no match for the SEC powerhouse. Part of me wants to be in Syracuse for that win at a place like tullys, be the one Tennessee fan cheering for every touchdown they drop on su. Back to my first point, sucks you chose Syracuse, don’t know why you wanted to go there.

May be an unpopular take, but I like Adrian Martinez. He gets a lot of hate because he went undrafted and played in the ufl but he was also projected to be a 4th round pick, has an nfl arm, elite athleticism, and was ufl MVP. I have to think that he is the best young option to develop and more polished than a rookie, including jordan travis who is essentially a rookie and recovering from a devastating injury. Not against bringing in a qb to compete, but I wouldn’t rule out Adrian Martinez or give up either too much draft capital or cap space to aquire a vet.

Listen, why don't you approach the New England Patriots and inquire about 'Bazooka Joe' Milton? This young man is rather raw but he's got the potential to be a great 'dual threat' type of QB. I'm a 52 year fan of the NFL, so I've seen a lot of football. Joe Milton has me hyped. As I look at this year's draft there's no question Joe is far and above any of the QBs coming out this year. One of the teams you mentioned needing a QB should take a look at Milton. 🙏🇺🇸✌️😎

@thatpatrickguy3446
@thatpatrickguy3446 7 күн бұрын
I've lived much of my life around Knoxville, TN so I'm at least somewhat familiar with Hooker from his time at UT. Right now I think he's a decent backup QB with the potential to be significantly better. The Lions didn't seem to think so last season when they brought in Bridgewater, but that's not really a concern for me. Bridgewater had been a starter and Bridgewater could also be a mentor so I think Bridgewater was potentially brought in as much to help Hooker as to be an established commodity as backup. That said, I don't think the Jets should offer more than a 5th round pick for Hooker, and preferably not more than a 6th. He is relatively untested and he's a question mark more than a known quantity. This puts him on basically the same level as Jordan Travis, though with more NFL experience. But having both Hooker and Travis in the QB room with Tyrod there to mentor and shoulder the starter's burden if Aaron leaves would be a decent situation. Travis deserves a chance to develop. On the flip side, if I'm the Lions, I hold on to Hooker. I can afford to play hardball with him, hold out for a desperate team to offer a 4th or a 3rd (and I can unfortunately see former Knoxvillian Little Jimmy Haslam offering something stupidly good if he wanted to bring him to Cleveland) and maybe even then the Lions keep him around. But they might be looking for a new third day developmental QB to have behind Goff, so they might let Hooker leave for a second day pick. The Jets shouldn't draft a quarterback this year, shouldn't draft one next year, and probably shouldn't in '27 either. Unless, of course, it's a 6th or 7th round filler pick. They have too damn much work to do to build a solid protective wall in front of the QB before they put a high round pick in there to be beaten to death. Again, Sam Darnold in NY, absolute failure. The same Sam Darnld in Minnesota, playoff caliber QB. What was the difference? It wasn't Sam. He was still flawed and made mistakes at times, but he had more time to make better decisions behind a good to great offensive line instead of being rushed into error because he was behind a ineffective offensive line. The Jets need to follow the Minnesota Method and build a good to great offensive line and a good to great stable of backs (and the Jets aren't bad on that front as is) to keep the pressure off of the QB. Once those components are in place, then start looking at wasting a high first round pick on a QB. Hopefully the Jets can trade from 7 back to the mid to late teens or early to mid twenties to pick up extra picks, perhaps in next year's draft too, and then get a good, solid building block for the line mid first round. The BPA, though focusing on either line would be wise, over the reach makes the most sense to me. And this should be the idea even if the Jets can't pick up Hooker for a reasonable trade. Travis deserves a chance to develop before being ashcanned (and potentially going on to be picked up and succeed elsewhere, being yet another discarded Jets QB who ends up rubbing the Jets' nose in the sh!t), especially since his rookie contract is seriously affordable. Keep up the great work Ian! I still kinda resent you making me somewhat of a Jets fan, but it's all good. 😛

By consensus, the QB draft class is weak. With so many holes to fill in the roster, the absolute first question should be, "Is Jordan Travis fully healthy by the time OTA's start? That is one of the biggest question the front office has to answer. If he is, roll with him. If not, roll with Tyrod Taylor.

I’m honestly good with going in with Tyrod Taylor tbh. If this is gonna be a similar situation to how Detroit’s offense, it’s gonna be a run first, PA style which means tyrod doesn’t have to do to much. He has the experience and I doubt we will be competing. This year is about evaluating what we have do they fit the system and can our coaches make adjustments and keep us in close games. I believe the defense will recover due to all the coaches hired on the defensive side of the ball. But the offense is the biggest question mark. We have a solid wr and rb room but oline and qb has me less than optimistic. I know some ranked in the top 15 at their positions but still. First time OC with a First time HC. Only time will tell what this team will turn into. Culture isn’t built in a day. Gonna be at least a year.

A healthy JT is a better option than Herdon Hooker. People forgot JT went toe to toe with Jayden Daniels and was in the same conference as Drake Maye and won Acc player of the year over him. If he is healthy with Breece, Allen ,Wilson, maybe Adams if he decides to stay, if not grab McMillan with the 7th pick resign Moses. That offensive may look similar to the Lions. Maybe not as explosive, but if all goes right they should be at least a top 15 offense next year.

They should start T. Taylor. Jets really gotta give him a chance already. Rodgers isnt the future, he knows it and AG knows it. Starting Rodgers doesn't help, let TT start and if Rodgers is willing to stay back and be a mentor around the other QBs then that's fine.

I don't know. I see the connections but it doesn't seem necessary. I love Tyrod as QB1.5 and I'm excited to see Jordan Travis assuming his rehab is 100% successful. I would be happy with those 2 and some mid round rookie. I also think the team should diversify by looking beyond the Lions connection. What they've built up there is their own organic success. Copying their homework is dumb.

I rather a new QB with no NFL experience than Roger with full experience and bringing the whole team energy down by shaking his head every time he make a bad play and pointing ☝🏽 fingers every time someone drop a ball or do a mistake but when it's Roger fault it's a the game 🤧 IM TIRED OF IT

You said it yourself, they brought in a retired QB over the young guy who had 2 yrs in the system. Tells me they know enough to see he ain't a guy who can be the QB. I'm more interested in Justin Fields

I would rather the Jets cut ties with Rodgers. Go with Taylor and see what Travis has. There's a few QBs in the draft that I think the Jets can take a shot at in the 3rd or 4th round. McCord, Dart and Cook all would be worth a shot. If not, I would bring in a guy like Heinicke in case Travis isn't ready, because we all know Taylor isn't making it past week 6.

I've said this too many times. It's time to stop running and hiding from it, we have to draft and develop a quarterback we haven't done it since Sanchez and even with Sanchez he was not an elite QB. I believe we should wait to do this next year. We have our bridge in Rodgers and if not I would offer Fields a 1 year deal. But the vision and plan should always be to draft. We won't get Shedeur or Cam, Jaxson Dart and McCord interest me as flyers but not in the first round at the moment. But '26 guys excite me A LOT. Iamaleava, Clubnik, Nussmeier, Allar and Manning (if he comes out) have insanely high ceilings. If those guys put together solid seasons I'd be much more confident bringing one of those guys in next year.

With Hendon’s age I could see him requesting a trade. It’s one thing to be 21 when drafted and sit a few years. If you’re drafted at 24 and up you don’t have that window. I think Hendon looks fine. I’d take a chance on him over Darnold. Darnold is NOT the answer imo anywhere other than where he’s at. The guy is with a QB whisperer, he’s sucked everywhere else prior.
