The SDK Manager now supports this functionality, you can use it instead of the scripts. Also, remember that the SSD you choose comes out of the power budget for the board. We discuss this in the accompanying JetsonHacks article: wp.me/p7ZgI9-3KW

This should work, it's the newest version of JetPack. The scripts figure out which Jetson you have attached, and flashes it if it's an Orin or Xavier. Earlier versions are in the versions in the Github repository. If you're talking about 4.X versions of JetPack, you will need to look in the 4.X branch. Thanks for watching!

It depends on how you want to use it. If you boot from the SD card, you can format the SSD and use it as extra storage. If you want to boot and run from the SSD, you will need to use the SDK manager to flash the SSD. The issue with using the method in this video is that it is currently not possible to download the Super disk images directly from the JetPack SDK pages. You must use the NVIDIA SDK Manager to do that. I'll be making a video that goes over the options. Thanks for watching!

Not easily, there's a bunch of tricks you would have to perform. It will depend on how the manufacturer of the board has everything set up. This is usually not very well documented. Instead, flash your SSD with the SDK Manager with the board support package from the manufacturer, which will make sure that all of the tricky parts are taken care of. You can flash the minimal setup, and then apt install the Jetson specific libraries. Good luck on your project!

When the jumper is on and the power is supplied, the machine will boot into recovery mode. This takes a few moments. Thanks for your videos. I wonder what do you think about the new nano? Because I can't help but think it's a terrible product. I first thought it's too expensive, but might be a good choice in some cases because of the decent performance upgrade. But then I learned they removed the hardware video encoders! Wasn't this thing designed with computer vision in mind? I am honestly a bit shocked some product manager at Nvidia thought that was a good idea. I am sad to say, but it's probably gonna be goodbye for me for Nvidia Jetsons. Seems lots of people use something like the Radxa Rock 5 now instead, which I am also gonna get soon. Maybe you can make some videos on that too in the future? ;D

It sounds like it doesn't meet your needs, and you should move to something different that does. Personally I have given slack to anyone who had to create new products during the pandemic. That includes movies, music, electronics, and so on. Typically building and marketing products requires a lot of different trade offs. It is way harder if the people aren't in the same room. If the criteria for your project is hardware video encoding, then the Orin Nano may not fit the bill. NVIDIA may have not included hw encoding for a variety of reasons, I don't have enough information to say how they choose their feature set. It sounds like the Rockchip based machines may meet your needs. There's nothing there that interests me personally, but it'd be fun to hear how that ecosystem and support compares to the Jetson one. Good luck on your journey!

An x86 machine is a PC. Desktop or Laptop.

@@JetsonHacksI know, I was looking for the ios 32bit version to download but it's no longer being supported. Is this the same process for the agx orin?

@@Key_Capz_ The method shown in the video should work for the AGX Orin, but I have not tried it.

@@JetsonHacksI just test it, it works and on a x64. I was reading the md file and they are referencing a x86 machine but nothing about it being required.

Very nice information. Could you please do a comparison using the new Orange Pi 5 8GB Rockchip RK3588S 8-Core 64 ARM Mali-G610 GPU, AI accelerator NPU with up to 6 TOPS? 😎 Thank you. Amazon... $101.99

Thank you for the kind words. Unfortunately I do not have a personal interest in doing comparisons. I would guess that CPU wise the Pi 5 offers slightly less CPU performance (ARM A78 for the Orin Nano, ARM A76 for the Pi 5). The Pi 5 GPU/NPU combination is interesting. However, a lot of ML/AI performance is around how well you can bring models for inferencing into the environment. For example, the Orin Nano quotes 40 TOPS, the Pi 5 is 6 TOPS. I would suggest that if you don't know how to take advantage of either of those specifically, you won't get near that performance. Typically a NPU has a very specific model spec that it can run, whereas the Orin Nano has a broader range of formats that it supports. This includes the optimized ML models that NVIDIA provides, which is quite a selection. The Pi 5 has a great price, it's not clear how big is the Pi 5 support community and developers. Here's a couple of review sof the Pi 5: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bWrPoqh8eZiiipY and kzbin.info/www/bejne/nHm0Ynqmjrd7htE to give you an idea of how the two compare. The Orin Nano is something different than the Pi 5, so it depends on what your application needs. Thanks for watching!

It sounds like you should return your purchase. If you are seeking help, go to the Jetson Orin forum: forums.developer.nvidia.com/c/agx-autonomous-machines/jetson-embedded-systems/jetson-orin-nano/632 Good luck!
