I came here for Bleach but I watch some of the gaming uploads and it's just...really weird? A guy has an interest in anime and gaming and wants to share it online and instead of people just enjoying it, you got people whining in the comments. I can't imagine how annoying it must be to scroll through all that as a content creator. If you don't like something that someone uploads just...keep scrolling? It's not like he's stopped uploading gameplay reactions, just be patient and wait? I don't see anyone in the gaming videos whining about wanting more anime reactions but all over the anime reactions you got people crying about Life is Strange or whatever. It's pitiful.

Yeah Lille's transformation is supposed to evoke the feeling of like a biblically accurate angel, and those were commonly depicted as disturbing to look at. So in that regard this transformation makes sense.

Correction Lille was suppose to look like a biblical seraphim angels, which are the highest ranking angels closet to god, having 6 wings. only the 4 winged cherubim angels were depicted as disturbing looking.

Ima explain the plot that shunsui's bankai tells: So some context, his shikai is based on children's games and his bankai is based on theatre plays for adults. We know this because the play shunsui is telling is a suicide story of a couple, a man and a woman. Lillie Barro is the man, Shunsui is the woman. In Act 1: because the man hit the woman, he feels great shame as if the wounds he inflicted he can also feel them (and it becomes real damage). Act 2: the man starts feeling even worse for what he did and develops a sickness because of this great shame. Act 3: as a way to atone the man drops into a endless ocean hoping to drown and the woman also drowns with him because she pities him. However, the man becomes a coward, starting to swim up to the surface abandoning his promise to drown along with the woman. Act 4: As a result of all this, the woman wanting to get rid of the man's regret and cowardness, cuts his throat. And then drowns along with the corpse of her man.

im just gonna add that story parallels them beautifully. S upposedly this is a story about a man and a woman. I guess the woman is ohana and shunsui i guess thats the reason they have the same scar in the eye. thats probably also the reason why ohana only shows up in act 1,3, and 4.

Yeah the thing about the higher Quincy transformations is that they are meant to represent Old Testament angels and let me tell you...those things are freaky...like they are more monster than alot of old school monsters. Lille is based on a Seraph which is a multi-winged monstrosity who sits next to the throne of God, forever singing glory to it. If anything Kubo's ability to commit this hard to classical concepts in this day and age make Lille go extra hard.

The Spirit that appears in the episode is Katen. One half of Shunsui's sword. Kyokotsu is not shown here, but she is a separate entity keeping up the trend of dual wielding Zanpakutos having 2 spirits with Ukitake and Ichigo. Shunsui calls Katen "O-hana" cause the "Ka" can be read as "Flower" and Flower can be read as "Hana". And the "O-" is an honorific for women from old times to signify familiarity. Katen calls Shunsui "Sakuranosuke" from his full name, Kyoraku Jirou Sakuranosuke Shunsui. And also because "Sakuranosuke" gives a flower relation in the name like with her own.

So he is supposed to be an angel. His transformation represents those "biblically accurate" angels. If you haven't seen them. Look it up. They're angels but look super weird and creepy. Shunsui bankai is my favorite because its such a unique & symbolic ability that brings a theatrical story to life,the story revolves around a couple,a man and a woman.Lille plays as the man & shunsui as the woman Act 1: The man hits the woman and feels overwhelming shame.The pain he caused her begins to manifest on his own body, symbolizing the weight of his guilt. Act 2: Consumed by regret,the man falls ill as his guilt slowly destroys him. Act 3: Seeking redemption,the man tries to drown himself in an endless ocean.The woman follows him out of pity,but the man becomes a coward and try to swims back,abandoning her. Act 4: In the end,the woman disgusted by his cowardice & betrayal kills him by slitting his throat and drowns herself alongside his corpse. Peak writing on god, Kubo's cooking with this one😭🔥🔥🔥

it would be sus if oetsu turned into something freaky too. It is weird it happened twice. Both times there was a reason why they became ugly. Tousen's was to show how he fell. He lost his true sight after gaining eyesight and all that jazz. Lille is like a seraphim the way they were described in the bible. Being the first quincy blessed by yhwach. Still unfortunate. I wouldnt consider Lilles transformation as hideous. I actually think Kubo was cooking here. Have you seen the "biblically accurate" portrayal of angels and their hiearchy (seraphims, cherabums etc)? I think this is where Kubo was going with his design of Lille's transformation. Especially since he is "the closest one to god" and being the first Quincy to receive a Schrift from Yhwach giving him a TOP rank among other Sterns.

so as we know kubo went to germany for this arc to get inspiration. which is a very very christian society. the idea for all the transformations are angelic in nature for the quincy. the inspiration in lille was an angel called the seraphim. and yeah they were all hella ugly. but they were also the most powerful. being a member of the elite guard he got the angelic treatment of an angle whose sight would burn men alive. its quite fitting to be fair.
