This is by far the best beginners tutorial I have seen. I am new to flying drone, specifically the DJI Air Mavic 2S I have started flying, and I am learning how to fly, but I am a little concerned about trying different maneuvers without really understanding the controller/Fly app. But, you do such an amazing job explaining each component from the drone to the controller, to flying. This is an excellent video! He's right, before you go out always check if there is an update, there usual is. These updates are imperative and most of the time u can fly without doing the updates. There are different updates, so make sure to check both.

24:35 ALWAYS choose the Drone to return home when losing signal. In case you won't get the signal back it will hover until the battery is flat and simply land, depending on your settings. And that might be over water. When the drone is in "Return to home" mode and the signal is back the drone will ask you to continue coming home or flying. 😉

Smart! So, if you are on a boat, and move away from the original home position, your drone will basically go there, and land on water (unless you continuously update the home position, of course...) ALWAYS is not a good suggestion, I would say, as it is with most absolutes :)

I bought the fancy kit and while waiting, thought to study how to fly the little ship. I checked out, let's say, many. Yours was the one that covered everything. The Smart Controller is more like this than different. It's just, I'm better off with less fiddling and have more money than brains, which isn't a high bar. Anyway, first flight this morning. I just got my air 2S in the mail yesterday. I’m so glad I found your video because I bought a refurbished unit and it did not come with a manual. I don’t know if the new ones even come with a manual as far as that goes. My first room was a phantom three Pro, which I loved in 2014. I had that for several years but ended up crashing it because I did not do a proper preflight turns out I was running a DroneDeploy mission over a housing development, and when the mission was over, it came back, but the return to home altitude was set to zero. So it came down from about 300 feet all the way down to the ground and hit the ground about 10 feet in front of me bounced off the ground turned upside down and skated right to my feet. It never flew right after that. I didn’t get a Mavic pro and I’ve got to tell you, I didn’t like it. The biggest thing is I didn’t like the small screen using my iPhone I like having the big controller of the fan and three Pro and using my iPad. So after keeping my Mavic pro for several years and only flying it a couple of times. I finally sold it last week and bought an air 2S. they may be thinking I’m gonna have the same problem with my small iPhone but I’m not gonna use that. I bought a Protech 8 inch tablet that has 1200 nits of brightness. Basically it’s like the DJI Crystal monitor bit better. Thanks again.

What a great informative video, thanks Jeven. I noted that the remote cable connection to the phone was for an iPhone. Can you also get cable's for Android based phones. Also, I plan to fly from a boat. When you use the 'Fly Home' button, does the drone fly back to the exact location it took off from or does it my to where the remote is?

Not sure. Probably not. You’ll just need to limit your cache or move the data from your app to your SD card

@@JevenDovey I think you're 100% correct. I have been moving the data from the phone app to the SD card. Albeit a bit annoying, it's the BEST option. I was watching this video again today and had a heck of a time finding the RC setting to recharge my phone 26:20. I finally looked in the manual and found “The remote controller automatically charges Android devices. For iOS devices, first make sure that charging is enabled in DJI Fly. Charging for iOS devices is disabled by default and needs to be enabled each time the remote controller is powered on.” Hopefully this will help some of your other subscribers. As it is, it is not recharging my Samsung Note 8. I sent a message to DJI asking about it. Thanks again for this extremely useful video!!!

I have Adobe Premiere Pro, so I know what that is and how powerful it is. I just need to "really" learn how to use it and hopefully not overuse it. I just ordered a refurbished Air 2s and hope it's gonna be ok. I already have the Mavic 2 zoom and the original Mavic Air 2.
