I was at Woodstock 99 !! this is the one moment that was peace and serene I remember being so hot and crammed body to body with people I was stuck were I was for hours !! she came on and totally tamed the crowd I mean there was 500,000 people there doing what ever they wanted there was zero cops until Sunday night she gave a sense of peace and calmness that was so special to see all those people singing and being in the moment no cell phones just being in that moment !! I always told this story to people who talk about this absolute kaoss called Woodstock 99 this was one of only a few times the whole weekend it resembled peace and love !!! I was a 16 year old boy who was all about painter back then and I was blown away at the way she too the crowd of that size and transfixed us all into this beautiful moment in time !!! thank you jewel you an angle !!!

She is a TRUE angel. What you described is the extreme alchemist gift few are given to heal spaces, unbeknownst to most. It’s just a captivating healing spell. Beautiful work to Jewel. I could tell from this, the energy she was fighting to tame. She was also fighting to tame the guitarists drummer and other male musicians going off that hectic energy. I remember when I first saw the video for "Who Will Save Your Soul". I went out and bought the album and was chastised by my friends who were all metal heads and punk rockers, I'm still a punk rocker, but Jewel's songs really got to me. I still get the chills listening to "Pieces of You" after 20 years... Her lyrics, for the most part are so chillingly real.

Jewel was easily the best performance at Woodstock 99, much better than all the dated heavy stuff that got all the limelight and controversy at the time. So much versatility and layers to her performance. I'm surprised this set isn't discussed more in the annals of Woodstock folklore. Really, watch the whole thing, incredible set.

I loved Jewel as a kid because my parents listened to her a lot in our house, but I have newfound respect for her as an adult. She is the whole package: She writes her own songs, has an unbelievable voice, and is a unique and skilled guitarist. Hers was the first concert I ever went to in 1999-I was nine years old and my memories of the show are scant, but I do recall a lot of banter in-between songs, and she yodeled for us at the end of the show.

Anyone else who was there do you remember the wind storm and rain during her set? The entire weekend was sunny and 100 degrees but when jewel came on there was a cool rain shower with really strong wind gusts. Some of my favourite bands were there but Jewel stole the show for me!
