Absolutely fantastic, Rachel. Congratulations, it is an amazing find. I searched on Llifle because I did not know this plant. The vine itself is a bit straggly but the amazing caudex makes up for it. I kinda like the lion in there but then, I am a big fan of lions too🦁

Hey Rachel! Wow, what an amazing and unusual plant...first time I’ve ever seen it. I can understand your excitement and anticipation while waiting to receive it! I can’t wait to see Jesse grow and bloom! Did you have any luck with the Joshua tree? I think they’re both from the same arid and dry-desert climates. Happy belated birthday wishes, by the way. Hope you had an amazing day! Thanks again for sharing such a unique and special plant with us! Big hug 🤗😘

Hello John and how great to hear from you again. I really am delighted with this plant. I wanted a big caudex and decided to treat myself. I actually can't stop thinking about it! I am sad to say that the Joshua tree did not survive, despite my best ministrations. I know you went to a lot of trouble to send me that plant so that made me doubly sad. Thank you for dropping by and sending you big hugs. Rachel

You've encouraged me to do my own repotting of my big container summer growing plants and using styrofoam to lighten their soil contents. I can't bear to throw out all those styrofoam contains that come from the grocery so now am repurposing them for added value. In prep for the fall will change over the contents to bee attracting plants that grow easily by cuttings. Admiring your attractive greenhouse and succulent collection.

Good. I am glad to hear that. The more these non-biodegradable products are used, the slower they are to find their way to landfill and this is a good thing. Thanks for watching and good luck with those big containers.

Rachel, you really have a special cordex here. I also have had a thing for them also. I have grown euphorbia obesa. In case you are interested my own favorite succulent at this time in my collection is kalanchoe beharensis which really grows pretty fast and looks amazing and feels amazing cus the texture is just so velvety but the leaves are nevertheless hard. Do you have one.? Thw common name for mine is called Napoleons hat and it is a large size like a hat now its older. I first saw it at hidcote gardens but it wasnt such a good specimen anyway but it still made me want to get it. It has the most sensual leaves of a plant i have ever come across; In short its very sexy also!......and further more its easy to grow but i bring it in cuz i dont want it to deteriorate in any way. Its in a very large pot now. I love it when people show something different to the norm and your plant has the IT factor!
@GardeningatDouentza4 жыл бұрын
I love Kalanchoe beharensis too. I have one and also a smaller plant of the 'Fang' variety. I understand completely how you are so taken with it.

I bought an adenium obesum (not quite your plant but seen on the vendor's website) or dessert rose in seeds from ebay. They are such an expensive plant to buy but I had to get one when I saw it to replace the one which was left out over the frost. I was so shattered over its loss. During COVID times buying seeds from China means a very long wait and uneven delivery. But the excitement of seeing sprouts well worth the bother.
@GardeningatDouentza4 жыл бұрын
The adenium is a fabulous plant. Well worth its position in any collection. I hope it does brilliantly for you.

@@GardeningatDouentza I just watched it. Sorry about the first plant, hope the second one is growing well for you. The reason I’m asking about the method of growth is that I have just ordered a Stephania erecta ( which I always wanted to grow and love those gorgeous leaves) and just found out that is quite tricky to grow!i wonder what I put myself through!!
@GardeningatDouentza3 жыл бұрын
@@marygorchidsmore2058 The second one is doing well and has lots of tendrils, leaves and even had flowers so I know it is female. The first one, unfortunately, already had rot in it when I got it. You'll have to coax your stephania (wonderful plant, btw) to grow roots as it will come without them. The trick is not to rot it. It will grow tendrils before roots. I would suggest potting it in a very slightly moist well-drained potting mix, keep it in the house and be patient. At the moment I'm at the stage where I don't know how much root my plant has so watering is tricky but you will need to get the tendrils to grow first. Hope this is some help. Good luck.
