I've watched several videos on Macodes Petola, but first time I came across yours. I've just ordered one for the third time in 2 years. Since I've killed them twice now, I was doubting whether to try this again. My problem is indeed finding the right balance between keeping it moist but not soggy, but then again not letting it dry out. It's such a fine line. My first one lasted the longest, couple of months, in fact it was growing like crazy so I had to repot it, bigger pot. It did not like that at all. For some reason I couldn't keep the new spaghnum moss from drying out too quickly. Second time I ordered it plus another jewel orchid the Aspidogyne Argentea. Both died weeks after I got them. This time I placed them in a closed terrarium. They rotted. I'm so glad you mentioned that, about humidity. The thing is I don't have a green house and no fan. Not about to get that for such a small thing. So now I'm thinking I'll still use the terrarium but keep the top open, for fresh air. I've just got to figure out now to keep it moist and not let it dry out. Hmmm, what about a self-watering pot? Could that be an option?

Also that sphagnum/perlite/bark mix rules for Nepenthes too! It’s a great airy mix that keeps roots moist 👌🏻

I can hope!!) then I might get a tall Milsbo for Christmas and I plan on putting LOTS of jewel orchids in it!!! I want at least one of each.... I LOVE them!!!! I'm planning of jumping head first into the deep end!!! Bummer... it looks like Roehampton Orchids does not ship to the USA :(

I seriously love your nails! I wish mine would grow like that, but unfortunately they like to split once they get growing. I’m sure my husband would like it if my natural nails would grow so I would stop getting my nails done. 😂 Beautiful nails for a beautiful woman. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us, I can’t wait until Christmas to set up my milsbo wide cabinet using your guide!!

Thank you so much! ❤ I used to bite mine for the longest time haha glad I was able to quit that 😅 Oh that Milsbo wide is actually my favourite one right now to be honest 🥰 the glass windows are so huge it displays the plants better than the tall!! 🌿 Great choice!

@@PlanteriorDecorator that makes me even more excited! We looked for the tall one and couldn’t find one, so we finally drover almost 2 hours to the only ikea in Utah and it was seriously by luck I got that instead of the one that starts with an f (fabrikor?). I liked that one too because of the antique round edges, but I was leaving there with one or the other! 😂

Great Video. Giveaway is a great idea. It might be an ambitious project :) but have you thought of doing LONG timelaps? Not a 24-hour cycle but more like 3/6/9/12 month cycles? It need a lot of editing for each day of recording and a bit of extra HDD but I think it would be something people would lose their mind seeing a group of plants growing over a long-period of time!
@PlanteriorDecorator4 жыл бұрын
It is certainly turning into an ambitious feat with all the entries!! I think I found an Instagram contest random selector tool online that will work well though! 😁 Oh that would be so cool! I don't even know what kind of camera I'd need to do that 😶 but doing something like a pothos vine would even be really cool to see!!

It's sad knowing that these beauties are trampled by wild boars everyday or thrown and fed to cattle here in Indonesia just because they're abundant. While people in different part of the world appreciate them a lot.
