Just FYI, in Dutch, Spinoza is pronounced with a soft 'z' only, not a 'tz' as you do. And, on a different note, when you're in Amsterdam you may want to visit the so-called 'schaduwkade'. It's the inner side i of the Nieuwe Herengracht: opposite each house on the other side is a copper plaque with the names of the people deported by the Nazis as part of the Holocaust. My sister Suzanne Rodrigues Pereira lives in #20: she helped to organize that memorial.

I was surprised when Dr. Abramson said that yiddish was one of the four official languages of the Netherlands so I tried to find some more information online. In my googling I couldn't find anything to substantiate it. I think Yiddish is probably not an official language of the Netherlands, but does anyone have any knowledge on this?

It’s a bit of a mistranslation. The only “official” language is Dutch. However there are regional languages as well as recognized languages. Yiddish is a recognized language in holland along with languages such as Low Saxon, sinte, and Dutch sign language. Hope that helps

There's still an evening clock at the moment in the Netherlands. After 22:00h you're not allowed outside. Shops, museums and tourists attractions are closed. The Dutch government is deciding on lifting these measures on the 20th of april. Hopefully the boat trips will proceed as planned. :-)
