Hi TheNowaisis, Welcome! Excellent, I'm honored! Appreciate Your Comments! So far We've Tested 16 M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD Drive Heatsinks and 3 Thermal Pads. Interesting to note, a different JEYI model was one of Our Top Two performers! Our Top 2 listed below. Third as alternate. 1. Acidalie M.2 2280 SSD Heatsink, Double - Aluminum Heat Sink for PCIE M.2 NVME SSD or SATA M.2 SSD with Silicone Thermal Pad amzn.to/3HWMVSX 2. JEYI M.2 HeatSink, Heavy Duty Aluminum Convective Heat Sink, Passive Heat Sinks with Fins, FinsCold iGlacier8 (35℃ Decrease Max) amzn.to/3YHa9U3 3. Alternate. Appears to be of same Design as Acidalie. ElecGear M.2 2280 SSD Heatsink, EL-80P Heat Pipe + Double Deck Solid Aluminum Heat Sink Cooler for 80mm PCIe NVMe and SATA NGFF M2 SSD Internal Solid State Drive Memory, Thermal Pads Included amzn.to/3Yry8qu As an Amazon Affiliate I earn from qualifying purchases! Hi Juan Pablo, Nice Motherboard! Nice size too! Sounds tight. This JEYI Finscold 007 2 Pack M.2 NVMe PCIe Heatsink stands taller than a Motherboard Heatsink. Any idea how much space You have between Motherboard and Case? This Heatsink measures 9.9mm thick plus thickness of M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD Drive. Do You have that much space? Since You have PCIe 4.0, Heat can definitely be an issue to avoid.

I am at my wits end with heat sinks on NVME SSDs. I have killed two NVME SSDs trying out heat sinks. Samsung 970 Evo Plus and a WD SN850x. After instlling the heat sink and putting the drive on a MSI Pro z690A system board, neither drive is seen in windows. I did not try the drives prior to installing the heat sink. The sn850x was tried with the JEYI Finscold 007. Putting drives t into a ext USB nvme adapter recognizes the drive but the drive cannot be intialized. Other NVME drives in the same z690 a slots work fine. I have a 1tb sn850x in another slot under motherboard supplied heat sink. Anybody have any ideas on what I am doing to kill these drives. Good thing for RMA and Amazon returns.

Hi Ronald Naeyaert, Welcome! Why do You think You've killed the Drives? Not seen in Windows. Cannot Initialize. Very Odd. May have something to do with the external Enclosure Bridge Chip. Set them on Motherboard 1st then in the Enclosure. Enclosure may have a problem. Very odd. Have to ask if the Drives were new or used? If they'd been in a RAID Array, that would occur. Have to use diskpart to fix. Then back to Disk Management to complete. Run diskpart from command line. Press Enter after each command. list disk select disk 1 clean convert gpt create partition primary format quick fs=ntfs assign exit Voila! Hope that helps! Let Us know!

Thanks for the fast reply and help. Both drives were new out of the box, never in RAID. Neither drive was seen as an uninitialized disk by WIndows disk managment on the z690 board. In the external nvme adapter on a different computer, the drives were both seen by disk manager as uninitiized but then I tried to initilze I recieved an error, don't remember what it was. Samsung drive was warrantied and I have a new one that is recognzed and formated perfectly. The sn850x was just recieved today and will go back to Amazon tomorrow. I have ordered the sn850x with heat sink.

Hi@@ronaldnaeyaert3653, Good timing for both of Us! Really odd situation. New, no RAID, OK. Since both were RMA, no way to check either with diskpart. Let Us know if the next one has the same Results. Very strange set of circumstances.

Hi daslolo, Welcome! Interesting thought. This is a decent M.2 NVMe PCIe Heatsink for the price. And they fit! We've now Tested 16 M.2 NVMe PCIe Heatsinks and 3 Thermal Pads. As for the Supermicro Dual M.2 NVMe Adapter, this an excellent Dual Adapter! Just needs a Heatsink Solution. Ans as for a Riser Cable, been there done that. Results? BSOD on Quad card using PCIe 4.0. Appreciate Your Comments! Thanks for Watching!
@daslolo
@daslolo Жыл бұрын
@@BuildOrBuy Does it depend on the quality of the riser? I've tried 2 out of 3 and stopped testing when it finally worked for the graphics card, wouldn't work for high throughput application since it uses a USB cable. BSOD on quad card - I wonder why, any theory?
@BuildOrBuy
@BuildOrBuy Жыл бұрын
Hi@@daslolo, Good Question! Quality, most definitely. Specifically, PCIe 3.0, easy. PCIe 4.0, definitely a problem. PCIe 5.0, now that's going to become a much bigger issue due to signal integrity. Wonder if that's even possible with a Passive Cable based on Our PCIe 4.0 problems. We tried 2 of the supposedly best available at that time. 1. LINKUP - Ultra PCIe 4.0 X16 Riser Cable [RTX4090 RX6950XT x570 B550 Z690 Tested] Shielded Extreme High-Speed Vertical Mount Gaming PCI Express Gen4┃Reverse GPU Socket {23cm} Designed for ITX amzn.to/3PXsWY4 2. Substitute - Original not available. Same Brand. Different model. LOUQE Cobalt RC260 Twinax Gen4+ PCI-e 4.0 Riser Cable amzn.to/3FZ8NMD As an Amazon Affiliate I earn from qualifying purchases! Expect We need a Cable from someone like 3M for Signal integrity. PCIe 5.0 requires special redrivers for that.
@daslolo
@daslolo Жыл бұрын
@@BuildOrBuy very interesting! Physics become unforgiving at these frequencies. I wonder if the bits arrives out of order due to cable bending.
@BuildOrBuy
@BuildOrBuy Жыл бұрын
Hi@@daslolo, That's a very good Question. The best I can offer is in retrospect when Parallel ATA Cables went from 40 Wire to 80 Wire. Then We went to Serial ATA. And everything changed again. And not all SATA Cables are equal if Tested for Bandwidth. But if they work, no one bothers to Test and Verify those signaling differences. Subtle but Significant. Whereas with PCIe 4.0, signal integrity may require an active cable or a Cable Interconnect such as an NVLink. We know enough to realize how little We know and therefore need to know more! This is an issue We need to be mindful of. Especially with PCIe 5.0! Better cable, better Interconnect, better shielding, redrivers, etc. We're eager to see how this plays out. Yes cable bending could have something to do with this. Look at Network cables. The twist is specific for the Spec for a reason... This type of Testing should be done on a Scope to visually inspect and see where signal integrity breaks down before System Testing as We were doing.
