I mean on one of the busiest airports in the world ATC tells you to enter a runway and hold. I'd have asked twice too 😄

This could have all been avoided if ATC had specified "with the airplane" from the start.😀

I think I would have preferred to hear, “EVA stay where you are, I’m sending Delta Tug 2 to pull you to the gate.” Followed by, “Delta Tug 2 Where Are You?” 😂

I have no problem with the EVA... Better safe than sorry! He is just double-checking the taxi instructions, making sure that he understands what is expected of them... He is instructed to hold on a runway FFS. I don't know what the circumstances were at the time. I do not know why he was instructed to hold on the rw instead of going from the rw onto a taxiway (@Golf) and then to hold there. The instruction sounded exceptional enough for the pilot to double-check... I would have done the same... Good pilot!

I don't know how familiar are you with emergency procedures, but if you have one, all communications should be cut to a minimum.

EVA didn't double check, it quadruple checked. At some point the crew's English comprehension level isn't sufficient. I'm not going to weigh in with a judgment but others probably will.

@@H89SA To me this is not an argument to NOT get clarification/confirmation on a taxi instruction... If there was an overload situation with the controller, then the controller could have revoked the EVA taxi clearance and instructed them to wait.

I know Kennedy Steve was getting exasperated here but I can't fault the pilot for asking for confirmation three times that he was being asked to idle on a runway. It's unusual and making sure that was really what was intended feels fair.

The order to hold in a runway maybe made little sense to the eva pilot. better sure than sorry i guess.

As a Pilot, any instruction to cross or enter runways has to be correct and you need to keep a lookout just in case something even a UFO is somehow on final about to hit you and your 400 passengers!! So double checking if the instruction feels wrong or a plane is in the wrong place at not seen by ground. cant be too careful even if ground has to confirm IMO..

When in doubt seek confirmation . Cross a active runway that is normal . Taxi on a active runway then hold short , you better read that back a few times .

At 1:05, would it have been better if the controller had instructed "Left Foxtrot, Right 22R, Hold short Golf" at the start? Or is that not accepted phraseology?
