I’m glad to see reviews for cheaper options but I personally don’t buy computer parts on aliexpress as I prefer to have proper EU warranty. It’s good you mentioned fan headers. For those who already have this board, or that are on the fence about getting one: There is a new bios with 1.2.0.0a AGESA support, and Ryzen 9000 series support. Changes I could see so far: added a vdroop load calibration option, and now I can go up to 6000MHz on the ram, albeit not at CL30 (CL34 works with 1.35v), and before I couldn't get past 4800Mhz, no matter what I tried. Afaik AMD mandated BIOS flashback support via USB for all B650 and up mainboards (don't know about A620 though) to avoid the exact problem of having to install an older CPU just to flash the BIOS as part of their commitment to platform longevity. Part of why AM5 became generally more expensive than AM4. That board not having features mandated by AMD would be enough of a reason for me to steer clear of the manufacturer altogether. Other than that I completely agree with Steve - AM4's history + AM5 being a well rounded platform is all the reason you need to get a good quality board and be happy with it for years to come. I might've overdone it a "little" with my X670E Taichi Carrara, but I do not regret it one bit. 😊

I would also be interested in seeing you test a Biostar B650 motherboard because I think it's the most underrated brand in the world. My first motherboard (back in 1988) was a Biostar Baby-AT design and it worked just great. The fact that Biostar still exists today just shows that even thought they're not a big player in the West anymore, they're not junk because they have persevered over the past 40 years. I have the one. Its BIOS stands between the 4-brand mobo and this video`s mobo. I mean there are more overclocking features and other settings but some are missed: some memory timings, no overclocking profiles, no 3-pin cooler management (only 4-pin PWM), mobo sensors show weird secondary temperatures. I.e. the 4-brand mobos do not have those issues obviously (or much less). As for hardware I ought to say the colorful mobo is great and looks very cool. This video highlights the memory techs EXPO and XMP. I know XMP is the older standard that Intel developed to enable memory timing settings. But I always thought EXPO was just a name game by AMD and that it was their name for XMP. Now this motherboard make you select between XMP or EXPO depending on what standard the memory supports. I think it would be interesting to watch a video on the implementation of XMP and EXPO that explains if they actually differ in any way and then just how they differ. Is the data stored in different formats or is there something else that makes a difference. I know that the timings might be different for the Intel memory controller and for the AMD memory controller, but is that all? What difference would a MB like this do handling the timing data depending on if you chose XMP or EXPO? Or is this actually just a name game?

Another great option for budget b650 with is the CVN B650m Frozen V14 for $145. A lot of feature at a lower price. I just bought a bundle with 7500f for just $300.

Fair assessment of the motherboard

Hmm have to agree. Do not skimp on the MB. $50 USD is nothing when you consider the difference in a one level up CPU or GPU. Interesting board. I have a Chinese Mini ITX AM3 bought a few years back. Used it with integrated graphics and even stuck a 1070 on it with a riser. THX for the review. I was waiting for it after you mentioned it was coming.

I want one of those LOTES backplates. They are way stiffer than the ones I usually see on budget boards.

The cheapest B650 Board in Germany is the Biostar B650MT for 85€. And the very recommendable ASRock B650M-HDV/M.2 cost only 124€ atm.

am using a Soyo B550 Monarch Dragon board for my 2nd rig (Ryzen 5 5600). So far it's been great except for the initial issue with updating the BIOS (the seller did not update the BIOS for me. Had to do it myself but i screwed it up coz everything is in mandarin! Had to asked an expert to restore everything back). Am aware that the "current" Soyo has nothing to do with the original Soyo, but am riding a bit of a nostalgia wave with my "Soyo" board. Hope you guys could review the new "Abit" board too.

i got the Jginyue B760i Snow Dream paired with the ES i5-12600HX mutant from Ali one of the best hardware purchases i made in last 3 years i mean this is just typical "Chinese Jank" but for not power hungry CPUs it can do... question - why haven't you added m2 wifi card?

There is Jingyue B650m gaming PLUS for 69USD,locals don't really recommended it for high end builds. For china board warranty, it's in china only.

I love cheap stuff. I would actually buy this, but pair it with an equally cheap 7500F. I'm almost certain that the 7500F and 7700 users are the target audience for this. Jank is love, jank is life.

The seller change for a new one three times, although I found the trouble at my 7700 CPU finally. No transportation expenses I should pay, their sale-after services is not too bad I think.

can't find any niche or use case to buy this over an Asrock. If i'd try really hard, I would just buy to test if this will survive more than 6 years of continous operation

Maybe with the newest BIOS (16/8), the faulty power reading issue has been fixed. This can be a really attractive solution to AM5 ITX, if they can sort out the software side

Regarding RAM stability, it is not the bios, it's the cheap 4ss slots. Take out the RAM, and re-seat it. Set the timings to 30-38... and you'll see.

I generally expect 3+ fan headers for a PC (CPU, intake, exhaust), but I assume this type of board is for small form factor with only exhaust. 👍🏼 Weren't it for the memory compatibility, it would seem great for that use case. Aside from warranty, with products for the Chinese market we are also unsure how they stand up to legislation in our region, e.g. CE & RoHS in the EU or RCM in Australia or FCC in the USA. Igor's lab was able to buy products with arsenic and electrical fire hazards just fine from Ali Express. 😅

Honestly, would immediatly buy it, if it wasnt 130€+ here from germany. Would tinker with the vrm heatsink, maybe check if I can inject the new agesa code into the bios. Its cheap enough to be a fun project, and looks decent enough to be daily when all works out
