I do really like this detail with the piping and you can even make it in a different color if you want o go crazy. I really need to learn how to do the skiving of leather as I see it.

Awesome thanks for your support Dave 🙂 I got it from Linton leather here in the UK, not too sure who is a supplier in the USA, maybe Rocky mountain or buckle guy? I have been trying out the ecostick as the Bostik I have been using has some very nasty chemicals in. So far so good 👍

Great video, especially for me as a beginner. Can you tell me what leather you are using? Veg tan that’s dyed, if so what weight/thickness? Or chrome tan? As a rookie I am challenged choosing leather for projects. I’m a fabric/canvas/vinyl bag maker but leather is still a learning challenge for me. I keep watching videos using veg tan but can’t seem to find many using chrome tan.

That my friend is an excellent bag!! I’m going to have to order the templates!! The only process I think I’ll struggle with is the skiving all edges. How can I do that without the skiving machine?

A paring or a skiving knife would be good for this, just need to make sure that they are nice and sharp 👍

Once again fabulous craftsmanship. I've enjoyed watching your channel for several years now and you work only seems to get better and better. I also greatly appreciate you showcasing traditional leatherworking skills and the use of the proper leatherworking vocabulary. What type of skiving knife are you using and where can I purchase one in the States ? Additionally, What temperature do you set your hot plate on the heat your creasing tools ? I look forward to your reply, CW Peterson Grass Valley, California; USA

@@JHLeather thank you, I’ll get on the Abbey England website 👍🏻
@JHLeather
@JHLeather 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you 🙂 I use a pairing knife from Abbey England or you can use a straight edged Japanese knife which would also work well. Not too sure who would be the best supplier in the use but I'd check rocky mountain leather supply and buckle guy. For the crease heater, I set it to max power and then as I've used it for so long I kind of know what's long enough but have test pieces of the leather you are using nearby to test on first. Then you can put it back on if it's not hot enough or let it cool if it's too hot. 👍
