Hi! I’m a 21 year old Italian girl andI’ve been taking Zoloft (50 mg) for three months now. I suffered from severe depression, anxiety and binge eating. I constantly isolated myself from people and my life was a nightmare so I finally dedicate to take this medication. I feel so much better and I’m socialising a lot more than before. I’ve dealt with anxiety, depression, body dysmorphia, ocd, and who know how many other things for ~10 years and I’ve never been treated. I’ve dealt with it in silence and if people only knew what went on in my head I’d probably be in a psych ward, and I wouldn’t complain (if I’m being honest), many times I’ve desperately wanted to be admitted into one. Anyways, I had an appointment yesterday with a new pcp and he sent me the prescription; I just took half of a 50mg, it’ll be that for a week and then 50mg for 82 days and after reading these comments, I’m terrified. Update: I’m one week in and I haven’t felt like this in years… I felt like I was woken up from a spell and I’m slowly recovering and feeling like myself again, I’m feeling calm and concentrated. Been taking anti depressants so far and it has improved the quality of life. But here is the twist folks: MEDICATION is not going to SOLVE all of your PROBLEMS. YOU have to put in the inner work so that the medication can work with you, you have to help yourself first before the medication helps you, here are some couple methods I think that can help improve the quality of your life: 1. Getting a new job 2. Cut out toxic friends and make new ones 3. Stop chasing relationships 4. Start making decisions for yourself 5. Control your ego, treat every person you come across in life with equal respect regardless of what position or status he or she holds 6. Go back to school, get an education learn a new skill 7. Make decisions for yourself, if you wanna do it, do it, if you don’t then don’t 8. Delete or limit social media (this is literally the biggest reason why people have so much anxiety and depression these days) 6. Stop chasing the approval of others. 7. Stop watching stupid videos or music that revolve around anxiety or depression (self help bs) Do all of this, take your medication, and your life will improve.

Hi! Could you tell me if zoloft causes cognitive impairment and memory problems? I have read several studies which stated that it is uncertain. And if it doesn't, why do a lot of people complain about it? Thank you for your time!
@stevenlupanko2983 Жыл бұрын
Been on setraline for 7 month now it genuinely took 5 months to work at a level where I could actually say life was a bit better. I could feel it doing something from week 2 but it felt like I was trapped in the breaking bad meth lab it can still be like that from time to time. It's not working great for depression but less suicidal thoughts and tears. And I suffer from panic attacks and intense fear and hypersensitivity to just about any noise and all these have toned down a bit. I'm thinking up upping the dose to 100mg but I think you have to know when to hold them know when to fold them and from what I have seen with many other people on a higher dose very few have a better reaction but some do. I just feel upping my dose is cutting out a future option if the medication starts to poop out. Ultimately I will never be completely right as I haven't been in 30 years medication or not. I'm wired incorrectly and that's that I try to work on acceptance that this is the way its going to be and that I have to live with GAD and MMD . shit happens hey. There's always ice cream and hot chocolate to cheer me up.

Hi. Why is caffeine never mentioned ? Caffeine is a stimulant of the central nervous system and impacts the brains chemistry. Surely it must alter the affects of anti depressants ? People with depression can typically take large amounts of caffeine. I manage my symptoms with as much as 8-10 shots of espresso per day. Now I have been prescribed Sertraline , and I am nervous to take it with such high amounts of caffeine, yet doctors never mention caffeine. Why is this ? Please could you clarify the situation when it comes to taking caffeine with these medications. Thank you

Please research Robert Whitaker before taking any antidepressant medication. He was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize in his work on the subject. Antidepressants can work up to three or four years and then you’re worse off than you were and dependent on medication and now with side effects. His evidence based medicine research is world renowned and published. He has two books. ‘Anatomy of an epidemic’, and ‘mad in America’. Please read and be informed before doing this to your brain and body.

I started these 5 years ago. Without full details. I'm 27 addicted to sertraline an quetiapine an worried I'm not ever goin to come off them. I wish i had just not started in the first place. if I have 3 days not regularly consuming I end up with migrains & suicidal thoughts.. If I have a alcoholic drink. For 2 days I have a cumdown feeling really bad overthinking.(don't have cocaine)..just being onest. You will regret it evan more then some one who's not on medication. If i don't take them I carnt sleep. People use them as an excuse if .. I'm feelin low (Have you takin you meds?)..people use it against you. Specially x boyfriends relationships can be 10x harder, family too when they don't understand you and want you to calm down.. have you been to see your doctors?? Haha I hate that. Please take what am saying an don't jump to easy option. Fight against yourself to feel good.. don't listen to a doctor who has only been a doctor for 5 mins an wants to prescribe sumthink to you because they can. Do everythink befor you go to a doctor and have these chemical based drugs. Take vitamins,work out,buy a dog,get you brows done. Clean you bedroom get hair cut, Just don't put something in your body.. That is forgein and not organic. It's a synthetic fix in my eyes and slows you down.. I feel like I could of tried harder for my self when I younger. Don't go down my road guys. Be better then me

LSD and mushrooms completely changed my whole outlook on life. I became a better version of myself This experience gave me a lot of confidence about my self and my body. A bunch of bad thought / behavior patterns were broken. One of these was pretty bad OCD that made me wash my hands a lot. It gave me a lot of hope that things will be fine, this is the one thing that I heard throughout the trip: Everything is alright. The main reason for the trip was my severe depression and it definitely helped me (although it's not gone). Before all I could do was lay in bed. Now I am trying to rebuild my life one step at a time which wasn't possible before."
