I relate too this on all levels. Its deep. I myself call myself a producer but sometimes find it hard to open up about my skills and talents. But I have been working on this for the last 5 years and I ve been producing since I was 15. Yeah charisma is a definite natural trait. Im 33 now so im starting to value creating creative structures to keep me moving forward. Appreciate the podcast topic fellas.

I think the analogy is pretty good. As for the research I believe it’s side by side with practice in the aspect of learning music theory and different cadences to rap with. Strategy would be what demographic fits your brand or how you get in position to network and do shows. Of course there is plenty more to the conversation though.
@mwright80
@mwright80 Жыл бұрын
The analogy sounds a little awkward but it's HIS thought process. But it all implies that artists often focus too much on their personal/private skills, but they need to give just as much attention to their professional/public skills. And artists do better when they are the total package.

I think a person that has great charisma would be Ari Lennox. On the opposite end of the spectrum I’d say would be Beyonce. She’s been out for decades but we still have no idea who she is. FrFr

I disagree on the Beyonce one, she’s done many interviews everyone knows her personality, even if she doesn’t show much more these days. Also all those tumblr posts LOL

@@mozzy1268yeah but Ari is way more accessible. She’ll do a live and it’ll just be her in a room talking to her fans and 1,000’s of people will be tuned in. Not saying Beyoncé can’t but Beyoncé just seems more out of reach and “above” her fans.
@nine27
@nine27 Жыл бұрын
@@LordHaveMurcielago I think the problem is you’re too accustomed to this social media microwave era where everything is instant gratification based and on display for everyone and everything all the time. These is no allure or mystic anymore unless you have an artist like Bey. So its not that she is above her fans its that she isn’t just going to give you anything just because. Which is one of the reasons why she has been around for so long. All the greats had/have mystic. Prince, MJ, Kendrick, Cole, etc etc etc.. Its about being classic and lasting the test of time. And not the Ari won’t be that but there are levels and she isn’t there yet. And not that being more accessible is bad either but bullshit has been normalized due to phones helping to create lack of attention spans.

Great content info. Analogies are great methods in simplifying points for every type of information. The great B Real from the 90's rap music group Cypress Hill is a great example of the "practice" part. It is public knowledge that he took Voice lessons prior to the group taking off which helped mold that unique nasal pitched voice. Many people believe they don't need classes or coaches for better breath control or better volume while preforming. Taking classes for any aspect in your journey will benefit you in building your dream home 🏡

This is a great analogy and I see myself in a lot of it I focused so hard on mastering the craft studying lyricism and I been able to make beats but my biggest problem was confidence like literally playing my songs for friends hoping they like it rather than trusting what I have to offer in the first place marketing is super clutch when you can make a few connections as well. BUT THERES SOOOO MUCH MOOOOORE TO IT‼️‼️😭
@induhgo_

Funny I’ve been working on the confidence part a lot. Cuz I’m like damn I been doing this shit for 10 years why WOULDNT I be confident and yesterday I showed a friend a song and was mad hype about it without even caring if they thought it was dope or not. They ended up liking it but I think partly because of my enthusiasm about it. Wish you well on your journey!

Showmanship, charisma, confidence and all that is image. Everything else could've been in the house. Kind of a confusing metaphor but I get the basis.
@BrandmanNetwork
@BrandmanNetwork Жыл бұрын
Your statements actually articulates his analogy is necessary though. Not only do many artists fail to focus on the outside image, those things that you named are not all that’s on the outside. That is a tunnel vision artist-to-fan approach. But actual success in the music business is so much bigger than the artist’s relationship with their fans.
@dgayle2348
@dgayle2348 Жыл бұрын
@@BrandmanNetwork : I agree. But in that case it makes the analogy even more convoluted because several of these elements can be both outside and inside. Confidence and charisma while performing or on promotional material (image) may be different than the confidence and charisma you need to interact with the label heads and potential collaborators (business). I don't think Meezy's information is inaccurate, I just think the metaphor doesn't allow room for the entire scope of the convo.
@thewavz7985
@thewavz7985 Жыл бұрын
I think the inside outside part of the analogy was speaking on how artist prioritize things. When you think of a dream home, typically the first thing unseasoned owners will think of is what the inside looks like. Those who have a better understanding of a home may think of what the house is made of - via the outside.
@genecist84
@genecist84 Жыл бұрын
I think this is important in regards to longevity but it doesn't explain how to "get the house". It's a pretty broad analogy aside from the fact that these should just be fundamental attributes to invest in.

Now let’s say hypothetically you leave and go elsewhere but the same thing keeps happening because that person has more of an authority and pull as well. So yeah people can keep you from your goals. What is “being weird” though? People gotta stop trynna make a cookie cutter template for human beings. You let this guy tell it, he wants you to be Jay-Z, Gary Vee and Oprah all at the same time. It’s like saying you can’t be successful at a high level unless you have all these boxes checked. Life in general doesn’t work that way. For any artists out there taking this as literal advice, take everything you see and hear with a grain of salt. Including what I’m saying. Be you. Believe in yourself. Make great art and be a good human being. Period.

its because modern "artists" arent very talented and are selected because they appeal to the lowest common demoninator (pop fans). You want a real career? Earn real fans, people who appreciate music and arent just trying to learn the newest summer club dance. You earn real fans by making real music. Theres a reason why artists like Redman are timeless and you cant even differentiate between modern rappers

a lot of artists push certain agendas in their music. Kendrick is openly heavily Christian and puts it all over the music and you know damn well 75% of that nigga fan base is not religious at all lmao but he still does it even at parts of shows. People like the music at the end of the day, that’s what matters. So as long as you’re making great music then people will gravitate towards the message even if they don’t agree with it and just like the sounds you using or your rap voice or flow etc.
