4:02 You're right, but they can't gatekeep anymore. Most artists aren't making music that's good enough to jump through hoops to get. Streaming offers too many options and too much convenience to be going to some website and signing up just to hear someone's mediocre music. You had no choice but to wait for one album to drop in the 90s, but no one has time for that anymore. It's not just the music industry, the internet killed a lot of gatekeepers.

Growing up in the 90s and early 2000s I used to love that band Radiohead. I had to wait like 4 or 5 yrs in between albums. All modern music is is a cool album cover that is just mimicking the 60s and 70s albums. Not new.. The music however is horrible.

The 400 years is up! The 400 years did not represent slavery it represented how long white immigrants had control over our land. They made a deal. From 1619 to 2019. What happened in 2020? The world went into a reset - coronavirus. Hollywood is no more. The music industry is no more. Disney is no more. All of the white companies are in debt look it up. This is time for us to take back our creative control. Look up how many black people win their land BACK since 2020. PUBLIC INFORMATION. Look up how many black businesses in Black companies have been started.

There's nothing left to do really it's been explored same with everything, i think star trek called it saying television discontinued as a source of entertainment by 2040 i think they're spot on. But at this point i don't see the point in carrying on with anything else either because it's just not the greatness we had in the past and never will be able, but with no ideas left they can't write anything. Games and books too all done now so it'll all be next is everything into technology the way it's already going and huge tech companies, but they'll just have to sell all the old stuff from the past like they're already doing to keep giving people distractions.

Right on man. You are speaking the truth. We are living in a time where dehumanization and easy access is damaging artists. The key to art is patience. I am mad about mpc stems now everyone will be doing what producers paid a fortune to do. Patience and soul is what makes good music. Any one can play a c chord..it's how you add the soul. ..free music platforms are the end to music. The AI industry wants pop music to become a totaly novelty that anyone can make so AI artist can replace humans. The release of mpc stems is actually the beginning of the total end for producers. I. 2 years a handheld device will be able to produce top quality recordings

Artists need to figure out that their new business model should be to remain independent. Get your own websites. And realize your website is like a TV station or TV channel. Sell advertising space. Give the music away for free via requiring downloaders/streamers to watch a certain number of Ads to gain access to streaming/downloading. Also artists should make their merch and concert tickets etc available on their websites. Artists should realize the new customer base for their music is advertisers. They are now selling music, videos etc to advertisers. This is what KZbin does. And the masses who used to buy Artists’ music are now buying their live shows and merch.

Ramping up the love hormones isn't going to keep people or make what you make timeless either i'm already seeing that with supernatural the tv show i was full on blinded by the actors beauty but then 2 years after it ended i'm already over it and have switched sides to liking grimm a whole lot more. I'm seeing how lame supernatural really is not near as great as i was lead to feel and perceive and i can already see it's not going to last the generations, maybe the first three seasons will but the rest nah. Why i've gone back to just unexpectedly finding things where i did in the 1990s i don't care to hear about the next funny thing they did at the beginning up until at least 2006 i loved their work and the quality of it not their behind. I can't stand management companies that ask if you have a budget. If artists had the budget, they wouldn't need you. Proper branding and understanding who your actual listeners are is crucial. There's a big difference between someone streaming your music and a real fan who's willing to pay $50 to see you live. Analytics provide valuable insights, but success ultimately comes down to 100% discipline and consistency. I've signed six artists, and five of them have charted multiple times without spending any money. You are your own gatekeeper.

I kinda had the thought that if people loved the music, they'll find a player and rip it to mp3 or something. Or even vinyl. Im not even thinking on a "gold or platinum" level, but even a few thousand at $15 a pop is decent. There has to be a better way than streaming, because not only does it not pay...but people dont even really appreciate the music anymore when its comes basically free like that. They dont listen to whole albums. They dont even give themselves a chance to hear a song more than once, unless its a immediate "hit". I remember hearing albums and hardly even thinking twice about plenty of songs until after the 5th or tenth time i listened to it...but then growing to appreciate it and that same song becoming one of my favorites. When you spent actual money on a album, the whole thing got a fair shake. He's right. There's no more industry in the true sense of the word. Not unless you're somewhere at the very top of it.

Yeah, just like anything else. digitized electric world. It is sad, and doesnt have to be this way. Its almost all "pre thought out" for everyone, makes creativity in people be turned off and be dependent upon others creations and thoughts. Not much originality. Yet the devices are still cool. Kinda a weird combo.

There never been money in the music industry for the artist, really think about it Jay-z and Dame didn't really make their money from Rocafella records; it was made in Rocawear, liquor deals, shoe deals etc. Music was use a marketing tool to sell their products, TV shows are the same that's why there is so many commercials. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon are pay content creator $100 of millions they recoup the money by trying to sell you product in commercials, the $5.99 menbership fee can barely cover them buying content. KZbin, TikTok, instagram accounts are the same, they were never really design for you to make money from your videos; it was design in a way for you to market your product. Welcome to Capitalism 101

I mentioned on another channel about why it's so difficult to get into the music world (I called that because you don't like me using the word industry ) in the world of sport if your good you make it , but you could be a great songwriter and never get a chance , so I would criticise the people running it not the artists ! I write songs people like them but you seem to walk down blind alleys . I'm thinking of going to the far east . God bless all . ❤❤❤❤❤❤

My guy, the "music industry" terminology is merely just a descriptor people use to define the business aspect of music-making. You're not meant to take it literally or try to conflate it with other industries that function very differently. If you simply type up "music industry definition" on Google it will tell you that "It's a market comprised of three main categories: live music, recording, and publishing" on one of the dropdown menus. By stating that the music industry is dying or thriving due to the performance in the market would be a fair thing to say. So if you're someone who makes music for a living, you wouldn't be wrong to say that you work in the music industry no matter if you're working independently or with major studios. You're just overcomplicating the matter by stating that it's wrong. It's like me saying that purchasing a subscription on Netflix is technically not purchasing, because that would imply that you are acquiring (as in keep permanently) whatever you gain access to when in reality, it's a glorified rental service. Most people know this but they will still use the word anyway because that's just how it is.

I think you missed the point. I am referring to the changing of Hardware Distribution to Digital Distribution over the last two decades. It's way more money in Hard Disc Sells and in return more people gets to Eat off the Pie from Hard Disc Vs Digital. That's a real Industry. Everybody can Eat! That's Industry! Get People Paid!

@@maximusxxi Well I have no idea how they compare in terms of profit-making but I imagine both have their positives and negatives. Perhaps selling physical units was a lot more lucrative than digital copies but the lack of convenience makes it impossible to go back to those old ways. I'm certain artists can still earn good money, especially since it's much more accessible to make music today than ever before. In my opinion, the increase in competition is the most significant challenge for artists to gain recognition and revenue. Politics has also played a key role in the production process which may explain why the quality and outcome on all spectrums of music and other forms of entertainment has dwindled. But that's just my observation as a hobbyist as opposed to a professional who works in these fields.

Well they are making money from youtube videos and how much they make per view add that up with millions of views and all the videos they upload and it's a lot they make lol. I've noticed they keep deleting and re uploading songs once it reaches so many views too because i have to keep re-adding a few every few months to my playlists lol. That's how they make their money now it's all monetized and from live shows. I need a solid answer though, if all ideas and genres have been done then what the heck are they going to do? lol because i don't see what else anyone can do with anything anymore. I think star trek got it right how it is in that world where they just throw themselves into their work, space exploration, and advancing new technology and science because what else is there?. I think the future is going to go into holographic concerts like they're already doing with Abba and a few other past musicians just to give new generations distractions. I do sense everyone is trying to come up with new ideas right now but honestly as someone who likes something from every type of music i can't think of anything totally different anyone could do now. It doesn't matter if they use AI like what could it come up with that would be like nothing we've heard before?.
