I tie the same thing but I use some of the squirrel tail in a dubbing loop for the collar

I always tie my squrreltails the other way around. If i keep them fairly short, i don't have any issues with wrapping aroung the hookbend. And i feel like the leech is drifting with the well marked squirrel fibers first/down rather than the leather part...So the fish might see the fibers first. Any thoughts, Charlie?
