Join Captain Mike Yerema, owner of i1baits, for an on-the-water demonstration of his “bad boy blade”. We’re on Oneida Lake, NY catching walleyes. But more importantly we’re giving you an in-depth look at the how-to portion and also the why and where and a glimpse at color selection. These blade baits are highly effective and versatile anywhere walleyes swim.

Great video guys. Its really informative on the ins and outs of using I1 Baits Bad Boy Blade Baits. I really liked the tip about working the bait 2-3 times when its vertical. I see so many people just reel it up and cast again. I was also happy to see the color Mike was using. When I visited him and asked him his recommendations for Oneida walleye he handed my that same Perch pattern with the bright belly. Love, love, love the Oneida specific walleye videos. Anyone other than Mike or Matt reading this smash a like and subscribe we need to grow help this channel.

Great to see you guys doing an demonstrational and informative piece on the use of i1baits Bad Boy. I know from talking to Mike in the past, the use of 12 - 14lb fluorocarbon leader, between 18 - 20 inches long, also helps prevent the dreaded hook and line fouling. Tight Lines & Screaming Reels fellas

My buddy Craig Sleeman educated me a bit on i1baits and Mike…I’m just excited to get my hands on them and give them a try! Maybe a dumb question…but would this be a successful technique say on Seneca River?
@TheAwakeningAngler
@TheAwakeningAngler 2 жыл бұрын
I spike with Craig yesterday as him and I talked about filming together very soon in a location still to be determined. to answer your question, Yes they will catch Walleyes anywhere they swim. the only times I would warn you would be around wood, thick weeds or large boulders as it will get hung up very easily.

Great video. I’m more of a troller and drifting guy. I started using the blades last year and was constantly getting hook and line tangles. I do use fluorocarbon and use the uni knot to tie my snaps on so any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

they do take a minute to get used to, but 1st I'd suggest bumping up line size of leader to 15 lb +/- 20 to 30 inches long. then stop your line before it hits the water to straighten it out. then after a second or two lift your rod tip to feel for the vibration, if you feel it then all systems are go and it should make it to the bottom unfouled.

@@TheAwakeningAngler Do you and Mike use a barrel swivel between your main line and leader? Also what do you use for your main line. Mine is 10 lb P-line fluorocarbon so I just go straight to the snap. I will up the leader to your recommendations and will change the main line if you think that’s a good idea.
@TheAwakeningAngler
@TheAwakeningAngler 2 жыл бұрын
im sure you can use straight flouro, I use braid because it casts better, cuts the water and has less stretch. I use 12 lb seagar yellow label flouro leader because it is a little stiffer. and I use a double uni knot between braid and flouro. no snap

Hey Matt whats that color you really like to throw in the morning? It's got a purple back and gold belly I think? Is it called Prince? I1 Baits is out of them. I picked up another of your favorites today, Sand Pike. It should be a great Goby imitator down on the east end in the rocks. I think Mike mentioned the Gobies on that end in this video.

You obviously know your stuff so I’d like to pick your brain a little. Your in 19 feet of water. How far of a cast are you making? Also do you have a rule-of-thumb for if you were in 30 feet or 40 feet? Do you ever use the cast-lift-retrieve-repeat method on slopes casting shallow and working it deeper? I fish a large bay that slopes greatly from 15 feet to 70 and I get the walleye at ~30ish feet when I’m anchored jigging the bottom. If I'm drifting I catch very large perch. I haven’t been able to figure out if the walleye are either a) holding in a position waiting for bait to come to them b) roaming at a specific depth and they come to me by chance/attracted by the lure vibration/colors 3) they are moving up and down the slope looking for bait. I appreciate your insight

Hi Andrew, let me try to tell you what I think. If you found the depth the walleyes are in then stay there. Or figure our a way to stay in that depth while Drifting. If you're catching Perch your fishing above the walleyes
