There's the theory that S1 and S2 are supposed to be one season, but even that will cut off right after they introduce [redacted], which would be the start of the [redacted] [redacted] arc. The clean cut would be right after the [redacted] [redacted] arc and the foreshadowing of [redacted] ** [redacted] and before the introduction of [redacted] and [redacted], which would probably be the equivalent of three seasons.

We got screwed by Netflix/streaming deals, yeah adaptation deals for ScienceSaru was 1 season 24 episodes without knowing that Jump(rights holder for Dandadan) made a deals with Netflix which specify for 1 season 12 episodes. Inner sources told me that after a screening they want to end season 1 in episode 11 but alas it can’t be because of the streaming contract. Yeah episode 11 was better cut off. For the record cour 2 production already otw hence we got the teaser.

So we left off in the middle of chapter 33 - the cursed house arc fully ends on last panel of chapter 48, next arc runs until chapter 61, and then we can show up through chapter 72 which would be another great cliffhanger for season 3. In that case, we would need 14-15 episodes

I read the manga, and for me, the way Okarun handling "Jiji" was what made me really fall for him. Okarun really endearing character, but what he offered to "Jiji" made his character more awesome. And I think its really funny, because for almost 10 years I used Kaneki Ken (volume 14 cover art) as my laptop's wallpaper, after Jiji arc resolved, I switched my wallpaper to Okarun. Both of them named Ken and both of them voiced by Natsuki Hanae. My top shounen MC favourite was voiced by same actor 😂

The promo poster also has some little references to future arcs which don’t really give a ton of context for anime onlys but without spoilers it seems like they’re gonna cover the same-ish number of chapters in season/cour 2. And yea I agree I think you’re gonna have a problem with Jiji 😂 science saru did an amazing job with adapting his yokai design. this arc coming up is one of the best. Cannot wait for July!!

10/10 anime adaptation in my opinion. I am happy where they ended the season in terms of how chapters they adapted. Otherwise they would of had to have breakneck pacing for this intro to this arc. Dandadan isnt really a series you have the liberty of skipping chapters.

The DanDaDan anime got me to read the manga and it took me just a few days to get caught up to the most recent chapter (I promise no spoilers). The manga is a super quick read because there are a lot of huge panels with tons of action and very little dialogue. Also, the story is written in a way that they go straight into the next arc/issue immediately after one ends with little time given for foreclosure so I think we're just going to have to get used to anime seasons ending at weird points unless they deviate from the manga.

The ending of episode 12 has been called the worst cliffhanger ever, but one possible guess is that if Science SARU had negotiated with the production committee and TV stations, and the initial budget was kept low because it was unknown how big a hit it would be, then it's possible that the production budget could be improved somewhat from season 2 onwards. Of course, the main issue is probably the schedule, but considering the profit margins of anime production studios and the return of guarantees to animators, I think this kind of season division is effective.

Given that they clearly knew that season 2 (or part 2 of season 1, depending on how you look at it) was already in production and coming soon, I think it's fine that they ended on a huge cliffhanger. That sort of thing would be annoying if season 2 hadn't even been confirmed yet, but under the circumstances, I think it's okay.
