Yes, absolutely sickening! The parents and TLC used, sold, abused, committed crimes against their children and then covered them up all through media but it's wrong of Jill to tell the truth and try to help others? My biggest fear is that there are still minors with Jim Bob and Michelle and with Anna and they are being brainwashed even more now that the truth has come out. This isn't just a family with two different views. These children are in a cult and they need to be rescued!

I was just about to say the same thing. Finally she and her husband can make some money from telling the public her side of the story. Also educating is on what really happened. This family was watched because having a huge family and how they did things were nostalgic for some of us. I come from grandparents that all four had eight or more siblings and divorce was never an option because it was never a concept. So we're curious and supportive. In the end we were all schooled that not everything was an old school fairytale. Much love and success for Jill, Jinger and her siblings. ❤

A lot of people are acting like this book is simply about Jill getting back at her parents for not getting paid during the show or disagreeing about how this or that was handled. This book is about a child and now a woman who was abused (in just about everyway one can be), controlled, silenced, used, blackmailed by her parents and by her brother and by adults who should have protected her. She and her siblings and her husband grew up in this cult IBLP. And when she said "No more!" They said "You can't say no." Everyone needs to see the Documentary "Shiny Happy People" to understand what this is about. It's about truth. It's about saving other victims or those who could become victims from the cost.

@@kris78787 Control over your children (or anyone) exhibited by protecting the abuser, hiding money, expecting one to sacrifice their control for your's and privacy for financial gain and putting them in harms way of other abusive power is not of God, not of the law and it is the abuse that Jim and Michelle Duggar inflicted on their children. *Something Jill Missed* *I got Jill's book yesterday and was able to finish it same day. It was a great book. I would warn Jill, however, that the issues she had with her father did not **_only_** belong to her father. Her mother contributed as well and her mother could have done a lot of things to offset some of the things her father did and she didn't. Her mother has just as many "issues" as her father does but Jill doesn't see it. She speaks of her mother as if she were the most wonderful person on earth, hands down. No, Jill. The issue you have is with your **_parents,_** not just your father.*

She’s not “dragging her family through the mud.” She’s telling her own story, which she has every right to do since her dad decided to profit off his family for years. He also fraudulently had Jill and Derick sign a contract locking them into filming obligations. Considering that the Duggars proclaim to be “Christians” of upstanding character, and Jimbob was literally treating his children like workhorses and refusing to pay them, not to mention that they protected their pedophile son more than any of their other children, then yes - Jill ABSOLUTELY has license to tell her side of the story. And shame on anyone who thinks Jill’s decision to speak up is somehow worse than the Duggar parents exploiting their own children.

I just finished the book at 4:30 AM! It was incredibly beautifully written with loads of Balance. It doesn’t make me think less of anyone involved. We’re all human with human failure. The show sometimes made the family look too perfect. I can see how Jim Bob let the money control him too much. it could happen to any of us. I can see how he justified it in the way he spent his money on the children. It frustrated that he couldn’t see that reporting their income, and then keeping it was causing them all types of problems with financing, schooling, etc. I hated the control he had, but had to remember that he too is still a victim of a cult. These things sneak in when you’re young and vulnerable. All we can do is pray that he becomes as wise as the children he raised.

Good for Jill. The parents are certainly hypocrites if they feel that using the media is not the way to facilitate a discussion about family issues. They put their children on television and the media throughout their whole childhood. The children didn't get a say. They used their kids to make a fortune by presenting to the world the image they wanted people to believe. Now a couple of those grown children are speaking up and finding their own voice. If Jim Bob and Michelle had true Christian values they would acknowledge the pain and struggles some of their daughters went through and apologize to them publicly.

I would do anything to make that happen and I pray for them. But they are so deep into this cult. Michelle was brainwashed into it, Anna was born into it... but they are grown women who have been told the truth and though nothing is impossible with God, they may never see the truth. My biggest fear is for the innocent minor children who still live with them.

Ironic they are not interested in resolving conflict in a public forum and yet they forced their children to grow up in a public forum and used trickery and bogus contracts to continue achieving that when their children reached adulthood.

They wrote this book to make money. The worst was her descriptions of how she wanted to do a vbac only 2 yrs after here previous c-section, at home, was in labor for hours, nobody's concerned. Then she has a uterus rupture, the kid has a brain bleed because he is 10 lbs and can't get out, but she is still in labor. It's like middle ages. No wonder they had huge hospital bills. And absolutely understandable that they felt bad that the TV show did not pay that bill, and her father did not pay that bill. But now Jill is just like her father - counting the money.

Jim Bob and his wife's idea of "forgiveness" was to immediately make his daughters "forgive" their sexual abuser, even though they'd had no healing. This family and the teachings behind them, and millions of other Americans like them are dangerous. They want to see a theocracy and that's wrong. I'm proud of Jill for speaking out.

Yes. From what I've heard is that JB keeps rejecting suitors for his daughter to marry because they are not "perfect" enough and she also prefers to stay at the Big House rather than move out so she can protect her 4 little sisters until they come of age.

How very hypocritical of them how very one-sided of them to be the family who introduced their children to the spotlight and television and to be the family that made them think it was okay to go to television with things now you don't like it you are the one who introduced your children to the television world you're the one who profited off of it but now that it's not a positive Spotlight on you you don't want them to take it to social media and to the world of course you don't

The shunning and treatment of this couple for telling the truth is indicative of the manipulative nature of their parent's chosen religion and their active adherence to harmful practices against their own children. I hope there is more healing ahead, and a peaceful life for all of the children.

I watched every episode of both series. I think what Jill and Derrick should be addressing is an industry that has No guidelines, because reality TV and KZbin aren’t under the screen actors guild. This is really the issue, look at Jon and Kate Plus eight and their kids are basically saying the same about Kate. The kids didn’t get paid. I would argue that at 18 years old Jill was old enough to go to her Dad and TLC and get her own individual contract with TLC. So I’d say, after your 18 that’s on you not your Dad/parents. Also if you think his parenting is worse, because of his beliefs you are still to sheltered. Yes, I’m saying that and am a Christian. Finally, the issues with Josh is a can of worms. Josh’s sinful ped______ behavior is unthinkable. By all accounts, he was taken to the sheriff and although there was a report taken, they the sheriff’s office decided not to do anything. I would also think because of the bubble JB and Michelle were in with the IBL they we’re probably doing what they thought was best. Even today, I’m not sure he would have gone to jail for his crimes. At the very least, he should have been on probation and in some sort of treatment, but like any addict Josh would have wanted to get well, which is clear he didn’t. I would also argue that the girls should have sued not only the sheriffs department, but every person who was involved in leaking this crime against them. It should have never been released as they were minors. I do understand Jill wanting her view presented by herself, because so many others are claiming they know it. Yes, the goal as Christianity is reconciliation with Christ and others. When it’s this messy it can be so very hard and whoever is saying, writing a book isn’t the way to reconcile is kind of right as well. On camera and interviews Derrick seems like a carbon copy of JB. If your a lawyer should how the laws haven’t been enforced or why they should be changed, just saying your a lawyer seems useless in my opinion.

Jill is just one of 19 kids that her parents had to take care of, but she behaves like she is an only child. Does she understand that when her 2nd kid was born, her parents were busy with her sister Joy's engagement and wedding, her brother's Joe engagement and wedding, their other grandchildren being born. And it's only just one year. Her parents had to provide for all 19, all the time. One can say - they did not have to have so many kids. But it's their choice. And Jill in fact is having huge challenges in having kids on her own, huge. We don't even know what kind of mother she is. The only think she posts is how obsessively she cuts her boys hair all the time, so they look almost bald.

Jimbob the world now knows what kind of man you are. Extortion used to make money off grown adults , and children without their knowledge and understanding exemplifies the verse from the Bible that stated : you cannot love God and money for you will love one and hate the other. Matt 6:24. No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. We can see who you clearly despise. Your own daughter Jill.
