I've been watching skating for over 40 years and I've never seen any other skater do a one foot axel into a triple salchow. It was such a beautiful and signature move of her. She had such wonderful flow and beauty.

Nicole Bobek tried a one foot axel triple salcow in her 95 Worlds LP but fell.....Its such a great jump sequence and Jill's signature move .....

@@janemariecox6547 Bobek landed it a couple of times, though, only once cleanly, to my recognition.

@jja8750 You're right. It was only once, and I believe it was in a warm-up?! Still, when Nicole completed the combo, it looked so easy for her. Such a shame she was never able to hold it together at an international competition, in both programs. Nicole is my favorite skater of all time. 💙 I typically root for the underdog, and Nicole had it all, but couldn't keep things together. Except for the 95 season. Even then, she still made mistakes. I love her anyway!! 🎉🤗

My favorite program of Jill's especially with the Out of Africa music. Now, I can't hear this music without seeing Jill in my mind skating this wonderfully elegant program.
Here's a list of some of Jill Trenary's great ice skating performances! 1. Skating to Tchaikovsky in her trademark blue dress 2. Skating to Nancy Sinatra's "These Boots" in her sparkling green dress and skate-boots! 3. Skating to Gloria Estefan's "Don't Wanna Lose You" in that beautiful white dress! 4. Skating to "One Rock & Roll Too Many" from "Starlight Express", while showing her naughty self in that super-sexy skintight black sleeveless catsuit! Such panther-like seductiveness like Catwoman, Emma Peel and Sandy from "Grease"!

I miss grouchy Mr. Button. He's cranking about meh skating. If he could see have seen the upcoming crapfest routines courtesy of the COPs, he would have grabbed a skate and cut his jugular vein. Lol..

the sad thing about triple jumps is the quite understandable look of terror on most female skaters faces. jill had good flow and her triples were quite good, yet artistry flies out the window when triples are too numerous. midori ito was an exception but her artistry was suspect. i prefer the double axel for most ladies with one or two triples and very high double jumps . jumping higher is infinitely more preferable to low triples. having a triple jump makes a skater more competitive but not always a better skater

It seems like no matter what kind of music she skated to, Jill always relied on the same arm movements…

She was not as Powerful and Exciting on the ice as Debi Thomas...And not as elegant as Caryn Kadavy. She lucked into this win because of Debi's TENDONITIS.

Only 4 triples in her LP? Nowadays she'd be laughed off the ice with only 4 triples.

of course this was in the 80s that was very standard for that time

This is 1987 and women were just starting to do triples!

Please don't forget. In 87, singles skaters had figures in addition to short and long programs.

@@chriscoyne9717 Women were attempting triples way before 87; Janet Lynn attempted a 3sal at the 68 Olympic! But it was in 77 that at least one triple became necessary for female skaters to be competitive at the top. Linda Fratianne, 77 and 79 World champion, is usually credited with starting the triple revolution among the women, and she did two in her long programs. Elaine Zayak won 82 Worlds with 5 triples.

What figure skating should be! The crap and leaping lizards today? Who follows them? In the 80s it was a wonderful thing to watch! Their names were known throughout the country and world.
