ANNA IS WRONG about republicans getting everything they want from the bill. It includes still giving BILLIONS to Ukraine and Israel AND stipulations towards the border. Please look it up for yourselves! In the bill it states that IF there are 5,000 or more border crossings/day then they have to close the border. So they will just fly them in like they are now which lowers border to under 5k, leaving the border open.

I’m nearing 40 and not voting liberal for the first time ever. I don’t particularly like Trump and some of his antics but I’m basing my decision purely on policies. I’m born and raised in Chicago and have seen what the ultra left policies have done to the city, including parts of the city being over run with migrants in the streets last year. I’m glad to see this conversation and others like it on KZbin because it makes me feel less alone. I have been called “MAGA” by family members who don’t even know I have changed my voting stance but have heard me merely question things like allowing children to endure medical gender transitions. The left has become too intolerant and hateful towards anyone who doesn’t reside in their echo chamber and I just can’t be part of it anymore. I think most conservatives woke up to issues in their own party around “WMD” in Iraq and 911 and how our elected officials promised one thing and turned into something else in state Capitols and in DC. We’ve watched in horror ad Democrats have been increasingly brainwashed out of recognition. You might consider me far right, but my stance against racism and unjustified war (pretty much all of them, at some level), is a HUGE part of my conservatism…and it is rooted more in the policies that are imo more useful to those ends, vs Dem policies that I consider “poor risk:reward” when evaluated. I’m happy to apply the same critique to Repub-sponsored policies. Walk-a-way Dems encouraged me tremendously, but finding regular Dems capable of logical convo had been fruitless. I hope that shows like this become more widely embraced, so that normal, reasonable people of various political persuasions can come up with and pass better policies, unafraid to correct what had been done badly in the past, and strategically implementing new idea in small, slow increments so we can work out the inevitable kinks in local and regional applications. Better yet, we need to back out of some things entirely, and see how we fare.

But recently I publicly stated that we should not allow LGBTQIA propaganda in our elementary schools. ANY propoganda is not ok in public schools. Kids are confused enough just sorting out basic things. The backlash was vicious beyond anything I could’ve thought of. The longer I stayed silent, the more personal and ugly they got. And now they consider my PRESENCE to be violence based on an opinion. It’s absolutely ridiculous and very scary for society. I too am a recovering hardcore lib. In early 2016, I had an intense exchange regarding the Trump with a fellow nurse and was determined to prove her wrong. I spent weeks researching for proof that Trump was an awful (all the -icts). Not only did I fail proving my coworker wrong. I humbly realized I agreed with her and all of the info I had believed full heartedly was in fact not true. I had been duped. For so many years. I flipped my seat from blue to red (along with my husband). It felt like I had the fog cleared from my head. Hearing this exchange between these two women is so spot on to how I felt and still feel. I left too Ana, I now consider myself a more "traditional liberal" As soon as I came out on my Facebook about finding common ground, I have been relentlessly attacked. I stood my ground for maybe about 2 weeks. I mean, four on one sometimes 5 on my posts. I responded to every single one. These last few days, as I continued to be calm and levelheaded, expressing my views clearly and questioning theirs, the condescending attitudes and dismissal, the laughing at all of my comments, turned to personal attacks. I have had 10 people privately message me, thanking me and saying they wished they could be more honest about their views.

We had a similar experience.. Our friends were a mixed couple and the wife who was NOT BLACK took cop thing to an extreme. The "Bi-Partisan border bill" debate. 1) It wasn't drafted until 2024 which means the issue was still ignored for almost 3.5yrs and doesn't solve the problem of the millions who were already let in. 2) It made security worse allowing for a higher quota of daily crossing and easier access to amnesty. This is reason #1 why it was shot down. 3) It featured a provision to send 60 billion dollars more in relief aid to Ukraine which has nothing to do with immigration. This is reason #2 why it was shot down. 4) Biden finally took executive action to tighten border security a bit in June when he thought he was still running. But all this does is prove that YOU DON'T NEED A BILL IN THE FIRST PLACE. 😂

I'm 61 years old and moved from San Francisco, CA, 10 years ago. I "woke up" to all the current craziness about three years ago. I am a gay man, former liberal left wing Democrat now turned Independent moderate/conservative who lived in Portland, Oregon for 14 years before moving to Tampa, Florida in January because I couldn’t take the hate and hypocrisy in that city and the complete lack of practical policies. Virtue signaling replaced thinking. Roving drug addicts replaced friendly strangers. I went through the exact same thing these two women did. Exiled from my own community for thinking for myself instead of blindly following tribal think. It is so refreshing to hear them basically trauma bond and share an experience I know very personally. Damn I needed this! It’s been a long time coming and to hear two women who I admire understand me because they are me, that meant everything to me. Thank you both❤

You could have come to Eastern Oregon, or even southeast Oregon. Only the upper left/Portland/Metro/Willamette Valley is so radical and badly managed. The other 3/4 of the state is way more centrist. There is a movement in Eastern Oregon to join up with Idaho! Anyway, I hope you are enjoying Florida.

Welcome to the club. I been a Democrat since 1986 but I move here from outside the US so I had no loyalty to any party So I been able to see and grasp how the Democrats lie for votes. The Dreamers are a great example. Promises and more promises and when the Dems had the house and senate they did nothing to help them. I consider myself now as an independent. This year I want change not the same crap we had the last 4 years🤷‍♂️

Healthy at any size is ridicuous. I can definitely tell a difference in how I feel now compared to how I used to, both mentally and physically since my weight loss. My cholesterol came back good in my last blood work as well. Weight affects everything. There's no denying it. It's a hard truth to accept for some but a truth nonetheless. I decided I wanted to get healthy for my kids. I want to see my kids graduate and get married some day. I stopped smoking and I've dropped 40 pounds. I'd like to lose another 20. I can't tell you how good it feels to actually be able to shop for clothes again, to walk and not have my back and feet hurt so badly that I have to constantly sit down and to not get winded just going up some stairs. I feel for those who are obese because I've been there, (I lost 80 pounds after the birth of my twins before my current 40) but you can't change your situation until you accept the reality of your situation.

I am a conservative. I watch Ana to try and understand liberals better. I chose Ana because I felt she was the most morally honest and less of a puppet. Seeing this makes me so happy! I don`t even WANT Ana to be conservative, I want her to have her OWN SHOW and be a reasonable voice. HER OWN INDEPENDANT voice.
