Hey Everyone, I have had a lot of people comment about my thoughts about not being involved in the docuseries despite being interviewed by Amazon. I thought I would just say that I'm glad that the voices of the victims were heard in this series. My personal experience with Amazon was not positive, but that doesn't change the product of the series that they put out. I am glad the people that were hurt by the IBLP had a chance to share their side of the story and their pain. That is power. My biggest complaint is Jim & Bobye Holt's involvement in this series. I warned Amazon about JIm and his history and they refused to listen. Jim went on a months long rampage turning sources against me, including Amy & Deanna Duggar. The ensuing chaos of Jim's lies against me, I can only assume led to me being too much of a headache for Amazon to deal with. Jim didn't want me involved because I know the truth about him. Jim Holt is, in my opinion, one of the scariest men I've ever encountered, a pathological liar, abuser, and more strict than Jim Bob Duggar. Do not be fooled. The Holt children lived in just much fear, isolation and silence as the Duggars. My heart aches that the people telling Josh's side of the story are such utterly terrible people. I wish they could have found more honest people to speak to. I'll soldier on. It's not about me. I just hope that Karma catches up with Jim Holt in time. it's massively brave of the survivors for speaking out. So I'm grateful they finally got a platform. Ultimately that matters more to me than my own involvement. Katie

I really wish you were in this documentary. 😔 Amazon dropped the ball on this one. It would have complemented this documentary well. It would have been good for people who don't watch you on KZbin to get your perspective. With all the sources you have and the extensive reporting and research you do, it would have made the documentary much better.

Katy, I'm outraged that the Holts were made a part of this empactful documentary. They may have removed themselves from the IBLP but it wasn't because they didn't believe in the cult....they totally adhere to those standards. It was because they couldn't afford the exorbitant fees that inclusion required. They are just as evil as the Duggars. Their breakup with the Duggars was because Jim Bob won the pissing contest between these two narcissistic, controlling, deviant "Men of God".

I'd like to see something be done about the fraudulent misuse of SNAP and any other government programs that were used. Problem is, it won't happen. As a young adult, my parents would guide me through legal documents (my first job contract, my first home purchase, etc) but they would have NEVER tried to make me sign something without telling me what it was. As a parent, I make decisions for my young children, but as soon as they are old enough to have a say in things impacting their lives, we will discuss it. What horrible parents.

Derrick Dillard is his own man, with his own education, and is a LEGITIMATE part of society working as a lawyer, not trying to control anyone, least of all his wife (at least that I can see). I think he realizes the potential that Jill has and that Jim Bob and Michelle also recognized and were unable to take control of, and Jim Bob is PISSED about it all. With the right barracuda of a law firm I think they can go after Michelle for fraudulently signing Jill's (and the other adult children's) name to contracts. I also think that contract Jill didn't remember signing was actually added on to after Jill signed her name, hence her not remembering some things that were outlined. Con artists do this all the time. They have you just sign your name and date it, not noticing the amount of blank space left on the pages you are signing above your signature. Derrick should not just let this sit, and perhaps he hasn't, but just has a law firm in the background quietly digging up evidence. Jim Bob is a crook through and through, and is more crooked than smart, so I know there are a lot of criminal goings on in his minicult just waiting for someone to prosecute.

I don’t know about Tom Cruise and his level of commitment to Scientology, but I know Leah Remini has spoken about how she was forced to sign it when she was a child. Now she knows better but back then she did whatever Scientology and her parents told her to do. Like working full time when she was 12. Once she became an established actress (Saved By The Bell, King of Queens), she willingly signed over millions of dollars to Scientology, that’s how indoctrinated she was before she woke up to the fraud that is called Scientology. Her leaving and becoming a SP (Supressive Person) has split her family apart. Her mother who is high up in Scientology has broken all contact with her as well as other relatives still in the cult. Leah and Jill have much in common with each other, their lives are parallel, and I’m very glad that they were able to get out alive and speak the truth. Just a few days ago, Danny Masterson (That 70’s Show), a lifelong member was found guilty of r*pe and will be in prison for a long time just like Josh. His victims were bullied and harassed by the “church” even though they were Scientology members (most have been able to leave Scientology). Sadly, not all of his victims were vindicated in the trial, and there are plenty of his victims who were outside the statute of limitations. At least now people know about Danny and his crimes, I just wished the media had paid more attention to his trial.

I waited (im)patiently all week to binge watch this. I also went into this knowing it was about more than just the Duggars. I knew that they were just the catalyst for launching IBLP into the main stream media, and thus, exposing the darker facets of the cult as a whole. With that said, I really liked this docuseries, and the perspectives of others' stories that we may not have ever heard had it not been for the Duggars. I think it brought about a broader picture of the cult, of Gothard's ungodly ways, and the manipulations that run rampant in the beliefs of the cult. I have so much respect for the victims/survivors that can speak out against the only life they once knew. I wish them all the love and support going forward in their journey of healing and living their best lives.

That whole series was disturbing. A lot we already knew from you and others on youtube, but there were new details. That video of little Josie saying "instant obedience" was scary. The fact that in the IBLP, kids are punished by spanking into adult hood and that wives are punished the same way was horrible. The older girls wrote their book Growing Up Duggar before any of them were married. Did they get to sign their own contracts for the book or was it though JB's company? I am guessing that they did not get money through that, but I am not sure.

I was so proud of Jill & Derek in the docuseries and I’m sure it was hard for her to reveal the truth but she did a great job…I just feel so bad for her having to be FORCED into be estranged from her family when she’s done nothing wrong. The show really revealed a lot more dirt than I had expected but I wasn’t the least bit surprised about what was exposed. I can only imagine the lies and coverups that JB & Michelle have to tell the younger kids about all of this, however the younger kids will eventually want to know the truth which will turn into a 3 ring circus. Both Duggar parents make me sick and the thought of Michelle applying that type of physical abuse is horrifying but it seems like there was some misinformation about the blanket training because I remember Michelle saying in some other KZbin video that she starts blanket training around 3 months old and I also saw another documentary awhile ago (can’t remember the name of it) but it is true that the wife’s and adult kid’s are also punished and beaten with wooden paddles and spoons…I’m just totally mortified and sickened about how mentally insane those people in that whole cult truly are…they are very scary people!

I watched all the episodes already, and honestly I was expecting a little more. I think most people that have followed this family and looked into the iblp and gothard already knew all of this. It was interesting to hear the survivors though and I’m glad they had a platform to share their stories. I think Jill’s book will go into more detail.

I agree. This series wasn't really intended for those of us who follow Fundy groups in the media. There wasn't a lot of revelations that we hadn't been already aware of or at least suspected. Another of it was simple confirmation. For those viewers who may have only known the Duggars in name only or perhaps only watched a few episodes, it will be eye opening and shocking. The purpose of the series should be to validate the victims voices in a wider public platform.

When my grandson was involved in acting the studios put all earnings in savings acct trusts in the children’s names to be released when the child was 18. Yes grandma had to sign he could work but grandson got $ set up by studios. I think TLC carries some of the blame for fraudulent contracts.

I finished the series. What interested me me more was that others had their opportunity to tell their stories. It gave them back their voice as Jane Doe 3 said it best. I want to make sure they have a platform to be heard, whether publicly or privately. I hope it gives them a strength of courage to do so. I am not only boycotting TLC but Discovery Network which includes Warner Brothers. I cannot support media that protects men like Bill, Jim Bob, Josh, and the like.

At age 18 all children are legally emancipated from their parents unless another contract is signed giving them rights to make decisions for their kids😊

Other than the testimonies of the victims Bill Gothard both the forced labor and sexual harassment/ abuse, they didn't tell us a single thing you haven't reported. The Scientology parallels and Mormon parallels in terms of youth labor was illuminating.

I thought the docuseries was very choppy. They didn’t delve deep into anyone’s story and all you got was overall snippets. The only thing new I really learned is that typically the people who joined IBLP were poor or/and came from abusive homes. And they continued to get manipulated and abused by Gothard’s teachings and continued that cycle of abuse with their own children.

I hope the series will continue b/c Jill and her hubby didn't say enough about what happened with Josh. It was a good series and really opened my eyes to the abuse of their religion, but you could tell that Jill is hurting and whatever he did to her and the sisters had to be really bad. Jill's hubby is supportive and you can tell that he stands up for Jill but I want to hear the entire story. JB and his wife are selfish, abusive, toxic, horrible parents, greedy, and much more. The other former members of their cult did a great job of educating the public about the abuse within the church.

Years before Josh showed his self I refused to have Netflix, my dish receiver, online or anywhere else count me as a watcher. I knew these ppl were evil and wouldn't let them get ANY advertising money from me. The only good thing is knowing he wouldn't share a dime with any hate group anyway. Contracts can’t be legally “Life long “ . They aren’t enforceable. Contract must have a time parameter. It’s a basic legal principle of contract law.

Im pretty sure those lifetime contracts whould be easy to break if the kids looked into it. That amounts to slavery which is illegal. If the kids eanted to, i think they could sue their dad to recover their stolen wages. But given how they were raised, i doubt they have the courage it would take. And thats all on Jim Boob & Moochelle. Im reminded of the story in the Bible about the use of talents and stewardship (Matt. 25:15) if you see children as being "Blessings from God" those children are some of the talents you are entrusted with. JB & M blew it. They wasted their "talents" their stewardship of the children has proven what terrible stewards they really are. Can you imagine any worse stewardship then what JB & M did to their kids?

I watch a lot of true crime videos which fascinate me - but this documentary! I honestly couldn't watch this series without having time-out breaks in between each episode. I'm amazed how amazing and strong the survivors are. My eyes were certainly opened and gave me more compassion for Anna. To have all your will beaten out of you. 'Blanket training' broke my heart. To imagine attempting that practice on my son (or any child) at six months old; just as he's growing awareness and wonder at the world around him. Heartbreaking. My (now ten year old) son is Autistic, strong willed and speaks up if he doesn't like something - and I thank God my son has that freedom, free will and is a little rebel. In return I have a loving, enthusiastic and brilliant little boy who follows his own heart. I hope more victims find the strength to escape to freedom - and parents wise up to the dangers of raising submissive children and women. Absolutely heartbreaking. 😢💔

Honey, Michelle may be the most underestimated person there. She has several different faces for whatever she is communicating, each with its own, distinct personality. She has completely hidden behind JB visually and in discussions, but part of me knows she’s part puppeteer, coaching the man to greatness and getting rid of all in her path. If she had any good in her, her behavior toward Josh and their unwavering support for the fat pervert would have looked VERY different. She would have taken the girls somewhere away from Josh or sent him to inpatient psychiatric hospital for life. Jail is actually better than those places, so Josh living in a psyche ward just tickles me. Michelle doesn’t protect her children. She only mothers them as long as they’re nursing, then they get handed off to an older kid to be buddies. JB truly cannot do this without his family. They represent the possibility that he has a heart. We all know better. There is just never an enormous vat of boiling oil when you want one: am I right? chicken fried chicken sh1t.

I think its un-parenting and scary that Jim feels the need to put his CHILDREN under legal contracts for the rest of their lives 🤔. What has he done that he fears his grown kids will tell? Love includes trust. If you've "loved [your] children tremendously", why don't you trust them? Here's another thought: Under his religion, doesn't that mean Jim doesn't respect the umbrella of authority? Once a woman is married, she's under her husband's authority. So, if Jim thinks he can (and found a legal loophole to) continue to keep his grown kids under him, doesn't that mean he actually DISRESPECTS the very umbrella he praises? (For his grown sons and their own umbrellas, his daughter's husbands, and EVEN HIS OWN! Once they have their own families, aren't you supposed to release them from yours?) ☂🤥 I don't get it 😵‍💫 and I don't want to!
