When Derick returned from Nepal, and the Duggar clan met him @ the airport with Jill; she ran to Derick, and they "front hugged".(horror of horrors!!🙄) I knew then that Jill was no longer a prisoner. Michelle said, about the front hug, "I'm sure it won't happen again." To the TV, I said, "Oh, but I bet it DOES!!" Not so much that I really thought Jill and Derick would be doing a lot of front-hugging, but I could see that there was a rescue happening, whether they knew it or not!

I 100% agree. Not only this, but I've always felt that on some level, JB & Meech believe that the girls actually did something (broke some stupid rule or whatever) that made Josh do what he did. Exactly…I’ve always wondered there’s more than one in the family.. It doesn’t excuse his deplorable behavior. He should have sought the help he knew needed as an adult.. But I’ve always wondered if something happened to him as a young child. Was he SA’d himself, witnessed someone else doing things to the girls and copied their behavior, or possibly exposed to explicit adult material which caused him to have unnatural desires..It just seems highly unlikely for anyone to do that without being exposed to it already. I grew up in iblp. The fathers were generally weakwilled and henpecked and the moms were the really devout ones dragging along the rest of the family. Not actually "submissive" behind closed doors. What you described is exactly what Wade Robson, Michael Jackson victim went through. He testified at the first trial that Michael NEVER touched him. It wasn't until he was a father of a seven year old boy (the age he was when MJ started molesting him) that he realized how horrible it was. He'd always been told what happened between him and Michael was love and he had to lie to protect him. I'm so glad Jill has gone to therapy, and as much as we all dislike a lot of Derick's behaviour... you can't take away the good in him that supported his wife in getting the hell away from that cult, seeking therapy and taking her away from the crazy.

My mother in law went through this same thing, staying with a man who did horrific things as well and went to prison. She took care of him till the day he died after he eventually got out and was never a loving, loyal husband to her. She believed she was bound by God to be "loyal" to him no matter what horrific things he did to hurt her and others. He was never a husband to her, but of course, in her religion, that didn't matter.

It allowed him to do whatever he wanted to her and others with almost no remorse, all while claiming to be a good Christian. Sorry, but I was a Christian for over 20 yrs and it's not uncommon for this to be the case. The system of church sets women and children up for this type of abuse. How many churches have covered up the "sins" of others, for the sake of the church reputation. Not all Christians are bad people but the churches allow this behavior to go on. For awhile, my father in law was a youth pastor and attended a Christian university.

I feel for Jill. It’s clear she was struggling through the whole PR ringer of Megyn Kelly etc, I have a feeling she did it largely to support Jessa. Because I don’t think she wanted to or would have volunteered to do it otherwise, but Jessa going out alone to represent them would be so terrifying for her, and Jinger has repeatedly shown that even the mention of it makes her noticeably distressed. I imagine that Jinger bawling through an interview would not have been good PR and they wouldn’t have wanted to put her through it. But as one of the oldest daughters I think Jill felt the need to be there to support and protect her sisters, their reputations, their emotional safety, and the family as a unit. She probably didn’t really process it as a coercive tactic to protect Josh and Jim Bob’s negligence regarding him until much later.

Where in the hell was Michelle? I understand the brainwashing but as a mom, there is always a breaking point. Why did she not stand up to Jim Bob and turn Josh in herself? Again, I understand all the BS that Jim Bob put in her head, but the right thing to do is the right thing to do. Especially as a mom and as a woman. With that being said, I do know a lot of family who have been in this situation and it has been the moms who turn the son in. In most of the cases I've seen like this, the dad wants to bury it and sweep it under the rug, but it's the mom's, no matter what tit causes who stand up and do the right thing and protect their daughters. Also, what in was going on with Josh to have even gotten into what he was in to? I also know that in most of these type of cases, where the brother does these things to their sister(s) they were either SA themselves by a parent, relative or someone they know or they have watch someone very close to them like their father (relax I'm not accusing Jim Bob of anything) behaving in such manners or are taught that they can watch porn and it's OK. Bottomline is, there are still holes that do not add up and I would hope that they would also investigate Jim Bob and Michelle as to why she did not protect or stand up for her daughters.

When I first started watching this show, I was so inspired by this family and how they raised their kids. As I got older, the sickness if it all started to become more obvious. The cult like mentality is a gross. Jim Bob is a narcissistic sociopath. Michelle is not innocent and I blame her even more! I am glad that these girls are breaking away from this abusive narrative. 🙏🏾

I come from a cult that is a bit left of the IBLP, as in not as extremist but still really bad. I have retrograde amnesia for 2 years of my adolescence, and what I DO remember my dad tells me didn't happen, even with proof. And my parents left the cult years ago, shortly after I did. I can't even imagine what all of that would have been like on national TV omg.... What I can say based on similar experience is that she's being strong because she has to, because she hit a breaking point where whether or not to be quiet felt like life or death in her mind. She made the right choice, and that saves you, but it also breaks you. I used to tell my therapist that I didn't even feel like broken glass, but rather broken glass ground down into granular sand, and that recovering didn't just mean putting pieces back together but figuring out what on earth those pieces could have looked like to begin with. Jill has a long road ahead of her, but as someone ten years down that road, it's worth it. Every little victory means something, there are bad days but for the first time there are also good ones. You learn which people really love you, and watch in awe as they stand by your side because you've been conditioned that there's no way in hell you deserve them to. Jill is strong, I really believe she'll come through this, but it can only help to send her notes and affection to let her know she's on the right path, because I can almost guarantee you there's at least 10 times a day she doubts that. Bonus points if it includes a Bible verse because even if you don't believe it probably still acts as an anchor for her. C-PTSD is something I wouldn't wish on the worst of humanity, nevermind someone good like most of these kids seem to be. I wish them all the best and all the love they deserve.

@@LisaKoffler Thanks for the update on who's where, I can't keep totally up to date because watching quiverfull content can be triggering. I hope I can watch the docu-series though. I can't speak for everyone but the reason my parents joined a cult was that said cult got to my mother. She grew up in an abusive household and her mother died when she was young, because of that she was afraid she couldn't/wouldn't know how to be a good mom to her own kids. Our cult promised her that if she did what they said we were guaranteed to be okay as adults. That's the kind of tactics these groups use. What got my parents out was I stumbled a bit (or a lot) after leaving the cult. The world outside literally felt like wonderland, everything felt backwards or upside-down and I got lost pretty quickly. After a few months I got overwhelmed and I ended up in the hospital. My mom dropped out of the cult soon after that because she realized that her whole reason for joining had been bullshit. In a way she was a victim too, they took advantage of her previous trauma to get to her kids. That's the story if you're interested. It was 10 years ago and I'm a lot better now and try to speak up about the experience when I can, to try to keep others out of these groups

Everytime an image flashes up and Josh is holding a baby girl and his hand is hidden I cringe. I think Jessa was on the Megan show to keep Jill in line. They needed Jill because she was the reporter. Jessa I think is a pragmatist at the time she was beholden to her father for housing and income.

Every time I watch that MK interview with Jessa and Jill, I can't help but notice how cold Jessa is. She's so withdrawn from her feelings and protecting the family ego, she doesn't exhibit any feelings. Stoicism is weird for a SA survivor that has done the work. It signals to me she hasn't actually processed what happened. She's just robotically reciting the family cover story.

Wow, the pain she is still going through is deep. Any normal parent' heart would break into a thousand pieces hearing their daughters side of what happened....bit JiimBob and Michelle. Horrific. If they only realize the lifestyle THEY chose was wrong, dangerous and life changing for their family i think the children could begin to heal.
