Michelle and Jim Bob failed Josh and the girls in so many ways. Josh was a minor who had sexual problems, undoubtedly because of the parent's unrealistic and unreasonable position on sexuality. Josh didn't need more bible studies, physical labor, shaved head or Christian boot camp. He needed therapy and a realistic view of human sexuality. If Josh had appropriate intervention at 15 he might not have gone on to do the awful stuff he did later. And the daughters were treated abysmally - ignored, forced to go on TV to say everything was ok, all was forgiven, and told to lie about the extent of the SA.

I swear I heard that Judge Brooks was going to write a court order for the children to be forensically interviewed and then forensically examined if needed after Josh was convicted. If that did happen and the children were interviewed, we’d never know because their records would be sealed. After MaryElla left the Duggar compound and was found more than 2 miles away at a busy intersection, DHS was involved for quite some time. I don’t know if they’ve closed that case or not. Jana was charged for not watching the kids appropriately. But, our son was an escape artist and we had to go to great lengths so he couldn’t leave via any doors. As many kids (6 of Anna’s at the time) that were there, plus Jim Blob and Michelle’s youngest girls, it’s no wonder someone slipped away.

Corporal Hutchins absolutely violated the rules for reporting SA. I am a mandated reporter, and if I don't report a suspicion/admission of any harm to a child, I can end up in jail and lose my teaching license. I even reported a second-hand piece of information about a relative in another state; even if I didn't witness it, I still knew and reported. It's not our job as authority figures to determine if it's real or not. We report and let the professionals sort it all out.

When Josh kept asking the federal agents over and over if there was CSAM downloading or uploading at the car lot, I just knew that he’d uploaded content. Many of the dark websites he frequented are highly suspicious of newcomers wanting to download content. They make the newcomer upload content that the newcomer made themselves to their website to prove that they aren’t the police. It’s a tit for tat thing. Josh has absolutely no boundaries and I will NOT be surprised to hear that he filmed, photographed, or SA’d his own children, especially the girls.

Two things: One of the girls who left found out Jim Bob had no plans to pay them from the money they helped earn from the show. They planned to marry off their sex offender son without saying why. There was no attention to the girls needs and sneakiness, and trickery with Kaylee, then Anna. It is dreadful they tricked Anna. I hope she knows she can never trust Josh alone with their kids as they grow up. Or grandkids if he can stay out of jail. What is her source of income. What they did to Anna is evil. Disgusting.

The silver lining is that ultimately it’s probably good for the victims that they were on TV. One of the hardest steps in the aftermath of SA is to tell the secret. These girls’ secrets were outed without their consent. That’s cruel. Nevertheless now they have many people out in the wider world telling them - in contrast with what their parents and church elders say - the victims did nothing wrong. In fact, their parents and church are sick and wrong. There is hope that wide exposure to this narrative will help them heal and will help protect other would-have-been victims going forward.

I started watching the documentaries from the very beginning and watched when the original series came out in 2008 as 17 kids and counting I literally watched every episode because I found it interesting I think anyone who is interested in the Duggar drama should watch all episodes if you can because you’ll notice a lot since Josh got busted now that we know so much and you’ll see it because you know more than you did before the scandals and all their crap. IMHO

It seems like that Jim Holt did the docu series for the simple reason of keeping the media and authorities off his back or at least try to. What I am waiting for is the reactions that will come from the inmates and staff at Seagoville where Josh is serving his federal time and how it will impact Josh's time there. It will also be very interesting to see what kind of bs narrative Jim Bob spins when the docu series finally airs. Thank you Katie Joy for all of your hard work in bringing the truth of the Duggars to all of us.

The Holts are almost as bad not reporting this to someone (anyone!) and maintaining any sort of friendship with these people after learning what Josh did. I have a hard time believing that no one from tlc that spent days with the duggars did not know about any of this. At the time it was occurring. I'm almost positive the film crew is not there the whole time. I may be wrong but years ago I thought Michelle or 1 of the girls spoke about cameras being in the home that filmed them also. Another thing I have questioned is what made Josh start doing these things. This is a family that supposedly watches no TV. They only watch Christian movies ,shows,etc. I am not defending Josh in no waycat all. I am justvtrying to say that normally when someone does things to others like he did at a younger age it is because they've experienced it themselves. He had to learn how ro do those from some where. Children just are not born with these thoughts, anger, or hatred in them. So why hasn't anyone ever thought of signing deeper into Jim Bob or whom ever he was around as a child. If Jim Bob is sick enough go pretty much force Michelle into bed to have a child every year. Then he is sick enough to SA or CM a child. I've worked in the juvenile court system. I've been in the court room and behind the judges chambers when minors tell of these tragic stories. Like I said I am not defending him. He continued to do these things as an adult knowing it was not right. I think all of the Duggar children need therapy.
