I think we got this all wrong. Jb is god and Jesus all rolled into one so you need to obey at all times. Terrible. I had a family where if you questioned ANYTHING you were punished by corporal punishments or verbal abuse. If I had. Penny for everytime I was told “I was going to hell and will burn and in intense pain forever” I was so scared as kid. I was never allowed to learn from experiences nope never, so at 50 years old I wanted a divorce ( again I was told off for this I made my bed and now I have to live with that hmmmm) I escaped and it was so hard. But it’s ok now I got to raise my kids the way I wanted to . They r great wonderful citizens of Canada and r production people. And I am so proud of them. Thankfully the ones that shunned me have died and with the internet I have contact with my one brother and my one nephew and for that I am so grateful and happy. So Jill if she is dead to her parents it’s ok. She will find new people who will respect her and her family. She has Derrick to lean on like I had my second hubby to lean on and help me. So Jill will be ok. But it will make you cry at times because you do miss the good times.

In leaving a cult, my daughter was kidnapped by her father for 3 years and put into horrific conditions, out of school away from those she loved. Told she'd burn in hell because I left the church. I found her and kidnapped her back in utter fear w nothing to our names. She 20 now and just graduated high school. Her father and grandfather came and to this day see nothing wrong w the evils done to us.. broken bones, locked in rooms, drugged... they will NEVER ADMIT WRONG. My heart goes out to you Ashli. We had a friend whose husband got involved in a cult. He came home and started abusing his wife saying he was shaking the devil out of her, etc. He stole their 2 kids (ages 2 and 3). She spent years looking for kids with basically no help from state. They posted picture of Mom with kids and said this cult 1.5 hours away may be involved. That was about it. Whoopie! Kids were eventually found thanks to their pictures posted on a milk carton almost 2000 miles away and 5 years later. Kids were then 7 and 8. They were lied to for those 5 years…lie after lie about their mother which were all boldface lies. Their Mom is a sweetheart, loved and missed them so much. Her heart never stopped aching. Her husband was acting so strange when we dropped into eat (he owned business in town) that I made my husband go in and speak to him and view his odd behavior. This was prior to us knowing anything that was going on between them. Was just week later he stole the kids. That was in a state I left 30+ years ago. Not sure of kids outcome. I know it was a real struggle when she got them back because they had been brainwashed with so many lies. I unfortunately lost track of updates. I did notice one child changed name to her Mom’s maiden name. I took that as progress and accepting Mom once again. What a nightmare to live. I am just so glad Mama got her babies back. I believe Dad only got slap on wrist and state allowed unsupervised visitation. This world and our justice system is pathetic! I would like to think better past 30 years however does not appear to be the case. Sending ((hugs)) and warm healing thoughts Ashli to you and your daughter. Thrilled it was a positive outcome and your daughter is not only surviving…she is thriving. Well done Mama!!! Discovery Networks, who own TLC, is JUST as responsible for this mess. Even though there’s no law governing this - there should be - they should have insisted that trusts should have been set up for each of the minor children with a disinterested third party as trustee, and each child’s “pay” deposited by Discovery Networks into these trust accounts. It’s this way for minors in movies. Jim Bob and Michelle have done a disservice to these children (putting it mildly and that’s being civil about it).

I grew up Fundie and because of the Duggars my parents have seen how damaging it is and had been on us kids now that we are adults. So Boob Jobs mission to turn their Circus into a ministry actually backfired! They caused lots of followers to leave and turn their backs on their beliefs. Congrats Boob you soured so many people who once believed. I’m still a Christian and I have my faith in tact but I will never live like they do ever again and neither will my elderly parents and many siblings who all grew up like this.

Oh I have so much to say…. as a survivor of SA as a child. I have thought about writing a book to help other, many times. Each time I start it is to hard to continue. So I have to say “awesome job” to Jill. Having her Husband stand by her and be supportive is wonderful. I also want to say, Jim Bob made this our busy when he put his family on TV. He invited us in for the good, the bad and the ugly.

Most of them can’t because there under Jim Bob’s thumb and either still live at home in the big house or on Jim Bob’s property. So it makes it nearly impossible it take there sister side. Most of them also work for Jim Bob so there’s another reason. It’s such a mess, there father has crippled his children so there’s no way out! So sad, most of them don’t even have a HS education. Jill is messed up mentally and will be forever hurt b/c the man that was once her hero, her father, didn't protect her and when girls are growing up they idolize their father. He was suppose to do what was morally right and now that she's an adult with a family of her own she is able to be the parent and experience the ups and downs of being a parent. She has a good, level head on her shoulders and she's able to separate the right from the wrong. This is hard for her b/c her dad chose to protect Josh over her. It's sad. I hope she let's it all out with her interviews and her book.

I just watched the Docuseries and it has so much information to it that I think I may have to watch the entire series again in order to digest everything. The courage Jill had to be involved with this and to hear everything that this family portrayed just shocks me. Anna needs to find a voice. But unfortunately I have a feeling it's gone and for good. Bill Gothard and JimBob both need to be in prison for life without the possibility of parole. And be sentenced to hard labor at that.

I know the Holt family. Jim Holt is strategic and devious. I go to the same church in Springfield Mo that his two estranged daughters go to. And right now I literally live 5 minutes from them. We’re not really good friends but I know their sisters husbands family, the Tulls. They have told me personally that their mom would divorce Jim but he’s too smart that it wouldn’t go anywhere. So she’s basically trapped. I watched the doc because I wanted to see how the Holts would be portrayed and it’s insane to me. He’s just as abusive as the other Jim.
