I’m old enough to remember the entire 47 years of Coach Boeheim’s coaching career, including his first win over Harvard in 1976. Life won’t be the same without him. Thanks for the memories Coach. In the past 47 years, many of us have changed from young to old. Remembrance: A mighty word.

Yes, we were fortunate to have him as long as we did. But it’s always best to quit when you leave your audience wanting more. For the last 10 years, many were grumbling that it was time for Coach Boeheim to say goodbye. Still, it was incredibly emotional for many of us when he retired.

Grew up through it all in the greatest era, and league, the Big East from the early 80s to mid 90s. Don’t care when anybody says. Will never be anything like it. Came so close to having several more championships, but as is said, you can’t always have it all. One is still better than none. Thanks for it all coach, and for sticking around.

Because if you're from Syracuse, it's a moral imperative to be a fan of Coach Boeheim and the teams. Experiencing a game livevin the Dome especially against the Hoyas is a memory I'll never forget. It was Carmelo Anthony Day! Let's not forget the last Big East Tournament at MSG where it was our house 🍊🏀🍊🏀🍊 every year. Thank you Coach! Love from San Diego as I'll always support my Cuse boys!

@@victorkreitner754SU and UConn have both been to six Final Fours. The difference has been that UConn has had an insane rate of conversion into national titles. They’re 10-1 all time in Final Four games, whereas SU is 4-6, counting the 3rd place game in ‘75. And we beat them in the 6 OT game. We’ll have that over them FOREVER!

Syracuse Basketball's identity WAS Jim Boeheim. I spent the first 34 years of my life in Central NY. My memories of SU started in 1990 as a 6 yr old. My Grandmother was a diehard SU fan. I'm now 39, my grandma is gone now, and Jim is retired. Long Live the 2-3 Zone. You'll never see it used to it's full potential the way Boeheim used it again in your lifetime. Damn, time moves too fast sometimes...

Got hooked on Cuse basketball when I watched my first Cuse /Georgetown game in 1983 at the age of 12. I am proud to bleed Orange, and celebrate the MANY awesome Cuse moments that happened under Coach Boeheim's leadership. There will never be another career like his! Thank you Coach for all your love, hard work and dedication to Syracuse basketball.

I have been a Boeheim critic and a fan, alternately, for his entire career. He was an assistant coach when I attended Syracuse from '69 to '73. He was an instructor in a physical education class I took for a single academic credit in 1972, when Syracuse Basketball was played on the court above the dirt floor in Manley Field House. That said, please remember, it is not easy to attract the best recruits to go to school in Syracuse, where 151" of snow fell in the Winter of my freshman year. And , remember, how self effacing Coach Boeheim was during his meeting on the sidelines with the legendary Coach Roy Williams of Kansas and North Carolina after the Orangemen defeated Kansas for the 2003 NCAA National Basketball Championship. At that moment, Coach Boeheim cared more about consoling Coach Williams than he cared about his own victory. That is the very definition of an Orangeman. And Boeheim was, and is., an Orangeman, in every way.
