I was in this bar in Thailand that had a ring in the middle of the place. They sent two local muay Thai dudes in for a spar. They went easy. Then asked if anyone from the crowd thought they could win. Was sitting right at the corner ringside. This American bloke reckoned he could win. His friends encouraged him. As soon as the bell went the soft sparring local hit him with three elbows and a kick the american dude fell into the corner missed the top ropes and bounced his face of the second rope when he eventually hit the deck the look of terror in his face was priceless. Same carnival shit here.

I’ve seen it backfire too. In the navy we’d see it with the marines, usually drunk and easily got whooped. Once they got some big fucker in there, Pattaya I think, very drunk but also had legit kickboxing skills of some sort and just mauled the much smaller Thai guy and nearly caused a riot.

Doing a legitimate audience challenge on a military base is a very bad idea. You really have no idea where a lot of those guys came from. I was in with a couple of guys who were NCAA wrestlers, but didn't look like anything special. There are also some crazy SOB's that go into the military, as evidenced by the finger biting story.

This is random but I watched John Morrisons Chronicle doc on the WWE Network the other day and to no surprise they completely flopped on his debut. He debuted on The Bump? That's exactly why people trash on how terrible the WWE is. Idk about any of you but John Morrison is a legit talent, could've been a modern day Shawn Michaels and is good enough all around to be a main event player. He can act so his mic skills are better than most if they'd just let him be himself out there rather than over script him like they do everyone else then he would be a reason why people won't turn the channel. His in ring ability and his athleticism is superior to most guys, he is a solid wrestler, he has the look, the body and the personality to be taken seriously on the main event level but instead they job him out week after week as Miz sidekick. They started him out beating Big E and Kofi back to back weeks and then at the rumble he was eliminated in under 30 seconds? How do you f*ck that up? They killed any chance he had at being a main event guy after a weak ass 2 week push like they do everyone else. Its not rocket science to come up with good creative and book/push guys effectively to a point where the audience believes in the guy. They ruin everything and yea this is a random comment but they once again wasted the kind of talent John Morrison brings to the table. It's embarrassing. Are they intentionally burying guys? No one could be that stupid to ignore & bury talents like Morrison, Ricochet, Ali, Cesaro (until recently), Nakamura. It comes off as blatant and they wonder why they have record low ratings. Its not like there's a better alternative to watch either because we all know how much of a joke AEW is so Cornette is not wrong when he says wrestling is dead and it'll never be on the level of the attitude era or even the ruthless aggression era ever again so we're pretty much screwed with terrible wrestling products as our only options on TV.

This is why I'm glad I never followed John back to WWE. The guy had been the World champ in both AAA and Impact, had a great cocky, chickenshit heel gimmick thinking he's a Hollywood star and then he goes off to wrestling's version of Purgatory.
@ryanb7013
@ryanb7013 3 жыл бұрын
@@sgtraytango its not like it is a surprise to him of how they're booking him and the joke of a character they're having him portray. He had two runs with WWE and that should've been enough of a warning to go elsewhere. He's had success everywhere else but he chooses to go back to WWE and he's right back where he was in 2011, irrelevant. He signed with WWE because of the money/security, there's no other reason why he would've signed back with them other than money. He did this to himself and idk if he even cares about how they're burying him or not but it's such a waste of talent.

@@Lee-fq5xs Why did he have it coming to him? The Tough Enough participants were given an opportunity to shoot wrestle Angle and he took the opportunity before being screwed (I agree with the point Lance Storm made at the time that it was a silly idea even if the TE guys had been put through work-out drills all day). Besides, having 3 faces attacking one heel is ridiculous when the only thing he's actually done is be arrogant because of his Tough Enough victory (it's not as if he was a Vader-sized wrestler who would need ganging up on to realistically eliminate).

At least then, even though Tenta was conveniently sitting in an aisle seat, the easier to be spotted and get out of his seat for the segment, now they just put the "fan" in the front row, ringside, just across from the hard camera, so it's even easier to be spotted and so no time is wasted by having a guy have to come down from the higher seats.

I was attacked in a phone booth by Scott Steiner in late 89' in Chattanooga Tennessee. I was on the phone with my brother and someone started pounding on the doorb and pointing his finger. I slide open the door and he tells me to hang up. I go to slide the door shut and he's holding on to it. I try one more time to close it and he basically yanks on it so hard I'm yanked out of the booth along with this tiny door. I just thought it was some gym bully. It was messed up because he would teach them how to do a worked chop with the palm of the hand rather than with the edge of the hand...My father said in the 70s there was a wrestler who carried a fishbowl full of silver dollars and he would except challengers from the crowd to try and win the cash if they could beat him. You cant pick somebody (unwilling) up like that just like you cant pickup a full waterbed matress. No puchase point allows you to prevent the weight in one controlled area like a lift. I was recruited at D1-FBS level as an offensive tackle back in the early 90s whena 6'5", 305 -310lb 17yo with a 36" waist/56" chest was still a rare find. I could move some weight. I have been a paramedic/in ems for 3Oyrs. A 160lb dead guy (without rigor)can exhaust you trying to move them under bad circumstances. A morbidly obese asshole that purposefully makes themselves flaccid as a dish rag from head to toe on purpose will kill you. Ive been out injured for this very reason. I always try to explain to ppl how a limp chunky munky thats only 200lbs is like teying to move a waterbed mattress. No good spot to get a solid hold and adipose flesh just pours off like squeezing the middle of a half filled water balloon. Mr Coronette,i grew up on southern wretling, GCW/CONTINENTAL/MID-ATLANTIC-NWA, and i lived for the tbs shiws all weekend and worldwide on an asheville affilite i could antenna in on sunday afternoons. I just want to thank you for the wit and entertainment for all those years, and since. Im from Morristown and used to see you in town during the smw days.i never wanted to bug you when you were off duty(who wants to be aggravated at ingles buying TP and Sprite,right😂?). We arent all Tim horner here,btw😂. I watch old nwa -wcw on tbs on youtube frequently and i wanted to say,i wish i had appreciated how damned funny Bobby Eaton was in the ring when i was a kid. His cheeky shennanigand have me rolling. Its on par with his working skills and he was wo a peer as a worker/wrestler/performer. Sorry for the novel.

The body slam challenge happened because tracy smothers talks about being apart of it as a fan in some of his shoot interviews.

Scott Levy wrote a comic about fan challenges once for Marvel basically writing it as a desperate attempt for a local fed to boost business. The joke was at the end, the wrestler was challenged by Peter Parker right after he got his superpowers. It’s actually a fun read if you get the time.

I wish somebody would shoot on the legitimacy of the angle challenge, and the master lock challenge. That is to say, when it came to fans, not other wrestlers.
