6:54 when Brian mentioned that, it reminded me of that George Carlin bit of society being so soft to their kids. “In today's America, no child ever loses. There are no losers anymore. Everyone's a winner. No matter what the game or sport or competition, everybody wins. Everybody wins, everybody gets a trophy, no one is a loser. No child these days ever gets to hear those all-important, character building words: "You lost, Bobby! You lost, you're a loser, Bobby!" They miss out on that. You know what they tell a kid who lost these days? "You were the last winner." A lot of these kids never get to hear the truth about themselves until they're in their twenties. When their boss calls them in and says "Bobby, clean the shit out of your desk and get the fuck out of here, you're a loser." - George Carlin

His gimmick is similar to Hunter Hearst Helmsley and his work in early DX but it doesn’t mean he is the same icon level as him. None of them are icons now maybe are they the rock and Austin and HHH of AEW? Maybe if it means they are the top guys in the middle of a program war but as far as in wrestling in general? My thought is, this is the first time in the history of wrestling that Meltzer has been able to be treated by the boys as a peer, if not a respected figure. The kids who used his magazine as their first "insider" peak are now wrestlers. Vince McMahon has to be miffed at Dave spoiling his shit, so WWE talent wont be as acessable. They won't be publicly endorsing him much less naming finishers after him. In AEW, he can continue to "cover" wrestling from a much more comfortable position. That's a lot of temptation for what equates to an inside mark.
@randyruger34564 жыл бұрын
Jim's frustration with him feels really relatable right now. The Quarentine has made social media the most viable option for staying connected to one another. I don't blame him for taking that personally. However an argument can also be made as to which of the THREE prominent MX versions is the best. To me personally I see Dennis Condrey and Randy Rose under the management of Norvell Austin as a very good Gulf Coast original. Then Dennis Condrey and Bobby Eaton under the management of Jim Cornette bettered the team's work in New Orleans and Atlanta. Then Stan Lane and Bobby Eaton pushed the team under the management of Jim Cornette to its true height of excellence. Don't forget that Cornette later managed The Fabulous Ones of Stan Lane and Steve Keirn in Memphis in the USWA era (Their original manager was some guy named Jackie Fargo.😏🎩). So actually of those four Dynamic Duos who qualifies as Best?🤔B.W.

The difference between Dave 25 years ago and now is that he gets to be involved now!! Use to wrestlers wouldn’t Shit on him if he was on fire. Now, they are his friends & he’s closer & more involved with the business than he’s ever been!! After all this time, he’s finally getting what he’s always wanted & that’s to be accepted & embraced by the wrestling community!! If he were to be honest & truly critical of AEW then they would shun him & he’d be back where he started!!

Perform all the flips,injure yourself and do everything possible in attempt to get over or develop a character like sting who didn't wrestle a single match, didn't cut a single promo and was the most over Babyface in 1997.

I love u Jim but I have to disagree with u in this one. Dave has reported a lot of shit that came out to be a lie. Like that story when he said Seth Rollins gave a speech in the WWE locker room came out to be false.

OK Jim is overlooking something and I love Jim and I get a lot of these guys have only wrestled in sports entertainment arenas or Indy companies but that’s not really their fault that’s all the option they had. Whether they have worked in a real pro wrestling company isn’t even the issue. I’m not gonna sit here and say Dave lies every day all the time. I believe 90 to 95% of the time Dave gives an honest report. But just like Jim and Brian ,Dave has a pre-existing biased With certain wrestlers and there’s that 5 to 10% of the time that Dave does try to turn his opinion into fact and even though WCW was the shits the last year and a half it was around I have heard Jim himself make comments like Turner Broadcasting as a company never want to WCW that was just Ted Turner , but Dave is pretty on board with the WWE documentary version of what happened to WCW rather than what really happened to WCW. Dave might even be one of the more honest people in the wrestling business but the fact of the matter is he has gone out of his way before to make people look bad so his subscribers will hate the same people he hates. I don’t think the world would be a better place without him or anything crazy like that that’s a bit extreme. But those guys were working for the WWE the last few years while Dave was not To say that those guys don’t have any credibility when it comes to Dave being honest about something because they’ve never worked for a real progress and company isn’t a hill I would die on. No they may have not ever worked for a real professional Wrestling company but that doesn’t mean that they can tell the difference between the truth and a lie.
