I remember when he left WCW and started smoking mountain wrestling. I never missed an episode of Smokey mountain wrestling.

@Tiger It essentially felt like a late 70s/early 80s promotion except in the early 90s. Cornette is a traditionalist and he set up SMW for other traditionalists who were no longer satisfied with the increasingly “sports entertainment” (for lack of a better term) presentation of the WWF and WCW. If you like that previously mentioned era of wrestling, you’ll LOVE SMW. If you don’t like that era, then SMW isn’t for you.

I miss when people called in to music radio stations, talked to the dj on the air, and had their requested song played. My local rock station seems like it has about 7 or 8 playlists it switches between and I hear the same songs around the same time way too often.

Damn, even back then in 1990 when I could barely even walk, Jim was still in the business contributing to this great sport we all love. Man is a legend 🙌🙌🙏🙏

@@osaji922 as a fan who watched wcw and wwf in the 90s, wcw got good in the attitude era, it was like watching a great musician crash and burn, it was fucking crazy and even the bad shit was watchable like a car crash in slow motion

@@osaji922 Both the WWF and WCW were in decline by 1990. But I miss those days just the same. 😕. That being said. WCW had Ric Flair, Sting, Lex Luger and the Steiner Brothers wrestling for them in 1990.

Bobby Eaton was released by WCW in 1993 and had short run in SMW.

@NW 45 Yes, he was. He remained under contract until March 2000, right before the Eric Bischoff-Vince Russo regime kicked in.

I thought Sting was the longest wrestler signed uninterrupted under the Turner regime from 1988 when they bought JCP until 2001 when WCW was bought by Vince.

So wait going by the interview clip, that guy insinuated that Cornette didn't like where wrestling was going in 1990?, understandable. Hasn't he also said before that he regrets certain stuff he helped the creative team with in WWF?

Yes, he said he participated in certain things to entertain Vince McMahon that never should have made it to television by sometimes did. He also said, when pressed by McMahon, that he came up with the finish to the Montreal screw job based on a double cross that happened in the same building fifty years prior. He said he didn't think McMahon would go through with it and that they should have just done a disqualification, but ended up leaving the building when he saw they were indeed going to do a double cross. Granted, the "screw job" wasn't his fault per se. Triple H also said there should have been a double cross.

Eaton's contract was up in May of 1991 and WOULDN'T YOU KNOW WHO WON THE PONY!!!!! They put the TV Title on him beating Arn, lol. And the heel who took it off him?????? Some good looking blond muscular kid with hand me down indy trunks who "Stunningly" like Bobby, WCW didn't really do anything with.
