Mae Young pushed the Dudley’s from ECW legends, to holy shit they will power bomb your grandma! The ECW wrestlers always seemed to have that obstacle of getting past the “anything goes” to “What the Network allows.” Yes, WWF(E) had a “hardcore” division and some extreme matches, but those were mild in comparison. What Mae Young did for the Dudleyz in taking that bump, put them over with heat in such a way we likely never saw before. Bubba sat there, with that blank stare, probably worried that he he killed her. He didn’t want to move, so he didn’t paralyze her. It comes off with this “BAH GAWD! LOOK AT THAT EUPHORIC LOOK ON HIS FACE!”. JR Sold it, Mae took the bump, and the Dudleyz went from a team that wasn’t understood, to one of the top 3 teams in the the early 2000s.

@@Caine_House They were initially, but they soon found out that being a world-class strongman doesn't necessarily mean you're going to be a hit. He had the very first guaranteed contract in the WWE (then WWF) at 10/years for a 1 million for year...That was absolutely unheard of, both in terms of the length and amount of pay of the contract especially for someone who at the point never wrestled before, super young and was completely unproven at that point. They did it because they thought he was going to be as big as Hogan with the whole "Strongest man in the World" gimmick, but it didn't pan out like they wanted, and they couldn't fire him because of the contract, so they tried to basically make him leave on his own accord by putting him through horrible gimmicks and angles but he took it with stride and made it work. It's actually a well-known situation, you can look it up there's a ton of articles and various wrestlers who can verify it. I believe even Mark attested and admitted to this as well at one point. It's one of those things that WWE would never admit to, but you once you hear about it and look back at what happened, it's quite obvious what they were trying to do.

I always wondered how she'd take those bumps and not be crippled afterwards lol.

In terms of the stage bump, she landed in Bubba's lap with nothing touching anything hard.

I was always a Mae Young fan I always thought she was entertaining and sexy in her own way.I always thought her and Moolah were like in a relationship Because every time you saw them they were always together,I’m really surprised you never heard any rumors about Mae Young the way you heard about Moolah because they were so close together it was almost like they were married.

Can't help but think her appearance when the attitude era was in its death throes, wasn't that great. Would've liked to have seen her work back in the day though. Surprised no one ever wondered what she was like back then
